D.C. Edwards Originally, "Bright City" was about a girl who's in love with a genetically engineered vampire. While I liked that idea, I didn't think the idea was s…moreOriginally, "Bright City" was about a girl who's in love with a genetically engineered vampire. While I liked that idea, I didn't think the idea was sustainable. But my protagonist in the original story was a girl, Abigail, who is an heiress to a kingdom of underground colonies situated in the post-apocalyptic United States, and I knew that was the direction I wanted to go in. So I ditched the genetically engineered vampire premise and kept most of the other pieces: dystopia, the New Adult genre, mystery, and world exploring. (less)

Summer 2018 Updates

I’ve been busy with major life transitions and doing some nonfiction freelance writing. But I’ve also been busy with my fiction writing as well.

I always seem to be “touring” and doing book promotions in the summer, so I kicked that off again this year with a reading at DreamHaven Books. While I was there, I read from Bright City, and I also read – for the first time – an excerpt from Mixed Blood,
