Daily Drivel – Pointless
I miss the waves.
The sounds of the ocean roaring,
The churning up of sand along the beach.
I miss walking, the crunch of leaves underfoot,
And the exertion of breathing and exhilaration of climbing a hill.
It would be nice to be breathless for something other than fear again.
I miss nature,
And liking people,
And random conversations,
And even new songs.
I miss knowing glances,
And those fleeting shared experiences with strangers,
Those seconds when you feel connected in the world;
Even knowing you wont...

From Coffee Shop Corners
People watching might be Georges favourite way to spend his time. Why wouldnt he lose himself in dreaming up the loves and lives of other people to escape the mess that is his own? From this new favourite cafe corner, in the new town hes made his home, George makes up backstories for each of the baristas. And as they serve coffee, George imagines happily ever afters for their waiting customers. But when a surprise email forces him to relive the heartache hes running from, George can think of...

Angelic
The seraphs called out from on high,
And the guardians shed their wings.
The archangels bristled with righteous indignance
At the massacre of all things.
To take arms up against one another,
Spill the blood of foes in the name of kin,
Seek glory in death, relish in power,
Is surely the deadliest sin.

Newsletter…
Hello!
A few weeks back I started writing a newsletter for this blog in the hope of seeing if people were interested enough in my nonsense before making an email list. From the looks of things very few people are interested, and to be honest, Im having trouble being interested myself.
Since this whole pandemic thing is, I think, zapping creativity from a lot of us right now, Id prefer to focus the little energy I do have on writing things I enjoy, instead of trying to fill a couple of pages...
Daily Drivel – Sanctuary
Hello! Todays random word was sanctuary.
The dusty bookshelf in the furthest corner of her grandparents library was a sanctuary, both for her curious mind and for discarded books so unloved. As heavy storms raged beyond her window, Caitlin would pluck four books by their spines, scatter them across the thick green rug, and flatten each out. A character from the first book would take a quest in the second, while a house in the third loomed in the distance with the villain creeping in to trap...

By Candlelight
Jesse knows, without a single doubt, that he is the luckiest man alive, and that luck has everything to do with the man hes currently draped over, with no hurry for either of them to be anywhere but here.
There have been many incredible memories that he and Vince have made together since first getting married. There was that first proud moment of referring to one another as each others husbands, smiles so full of joy at being able to say those very words out loud that it was almost...

A Restless Heart
Oh, Tyler
The softness in Xaviers voice when Tyler showed up unannounced at his apartment after wandering aimlessly for a couple of hours was so gentle that it forced a sob from his throat. He didnt mean to, and had no wish for anyone to see how much this ghost was troubling him. But Xaviers look of concern as he stepped back to invite him in opened a floodgate. Tyler tumbled forward, far too upset with himself to be embarrassed that he landed all but headfirst in...
Daily Drivel – Snow
Hello! Todays word is snow and became a drabble.
It was odd to see the sky darkened by snow in the middle of summer, when earlier that day there hadnt even been a single cloud. Chris left the office early since hed not had a customer in since lunchtime, making through empty streets on his way home.
Snowflakes began to tickle at his hair and cheek. He brushed them away, only pausing to inspect one landing near the corner of his eye. Black, and crumbly, like no snow he had ever seen before....

Tainted By Our Choices
Tainted by our choices is a contemporary romance that has flashbacks, sex, environmental awareness, and a slight fixation on dessert. Potentially all at the same time.
Meet Jack. A successful environmental officer working within an industry that is so very far from his childhood dream of saving the planet, that he no longer recognizes himself. How hes found himself in Houston, Texas, where he has no one, and nothing but his work for company, he tells himself repeatedly he doesnt know. But...
Daily Drivel – A Bad Day
Todays word is tolerate!
There are a lot of things Giles can tolerate in this world. The neighbours next door who have no consideration for just how loud their music is when they play it at all hours, which hed barely be able to hear through the thick walls if they would only close the window. The zebra crossing on his walk to work where Giles becomes invisible to every person driving, who glares at him like he is the entire reason for whatever is going wrong with his day. His colleagues,...
