Behind The Scenes: An Uncounted Statistic

An uncounted statistic came about for two reasons. One, after discussions with someone who had experienced being homeless themselves, and two, I am a fairly big fan of Five Finger Death Punch, and if you haven’t seen the video to The Wrong Side Of Heaven, which is dedicated to veterans who happen to make up a large portion of our homeless society, then please give it a watch.

In any case, and despite how many news stories, articles, and homeless charity websites I trawl though, I know nothing...

Sunday Thinking

Once upon a time, there was a place. A world, perhaps we should say, that was both remarkable and unremarkable, depending on how it was viewed, but a place nonetheless.

This place was… magical. Not for the shamans who practiced, or the leaders who prophesied, or even the folk who shaped and moulded that place in the name of making profits. No, this place was magical, for one simple, certain word.

Equal.

People, who happened to be of different colour, had different abilities, had genders they...

Behind The Scenes: Slumber

Slumber is an actual horror story for me, and you can choose to think of me however you wish to once you’ve read it. I have never had the desire, urge or need to be a parent, the thought intimidates and terrifies me in equal measure, and whilst that doesn’t mean I’m necessarily scared of children, it does mean I do go out of my way to avoid them – at least, the ones I don’t already know. So, this is me, and this is my nightmare

Tainted By Our Choices

If home is where the heart is, then Jack will forever live in a state of having nowhere to belong. So far from the life he intended for himself, gone are his hopes for making a difference, replaced instead with sharp suits and damage limitation, working for an industry so controversial it is rarely out of the news.

A chance meeting at a protest brings Jack face to face with his past; is there more that can be saved here than just the environment that he grew up loving so much?

Tainted By Our...

Behind The Scenes: Diesel

Diesel. What can I tell you about Diesel?

Well, first, the pantry cupboard and the electric meter that used to reside there are very much real, as is my childhood love of Thomas The Tank Engine. But the rest of it came out of letting my fingers go free to type whatever words they felt like typing.

I love the idea of a recurring dream that you can add to the more you visit it, although perhaps the recurring dream of this story wouldn’t be somewhere anyone would want to go more than once. I als...

Driving Distractions

Driving home from a team building conference with the guy from the office who he’s been secretly lusting after since he joined the team, Alex thinks the worst thing he’s going to have to deal with is his own wandering mind. But then the storm they’re driving in becomes impossible and forces them to stop; here’s what happens when Alex gets really, really lucky…

This is NOT safe for work, just to warn you. For those of you who follow/have followed me elsewhere, you might recognise this story in...

As Nature Intended

When you first learn that you are an Omega, you learn all sorts of things you never imagined you would need to know when you were growing up. The essentials: Heat suppressants, scent masking, how to handle an Alpha that is scenting you, and of course, the laws that are in place to protect you, in a society that is accepting and progressive, yet still has elements of its attitudes stuck firmly in the past. You also learn that through no fault of your own, or conscious effort, it is possible f...

Sunday Thinking

Once upon a time, there was a dinosaur named Dippy, who for almost forty years called a place named the Hintze Hall home. In that hall and over all of those long, wonderful years, Dippy greeted millions of guests into the entrance of the Natural History Museum , smiling down at them through unseeing eyes and actually not minding if the small people stepped closer to touch him, though the adults around him forbid it.

Dippy lived a happy life, probably the happiest life of any Diplodocus, hearin...

On Being Guided

Jason’s recently acknowledged his attraction for men. His friend- now boyfriend, Michael, is helping him come to terms with that.

This is NOT safe for work, just to warn you. For those of you who follow/have followed me elsewhere, you might recognise this story in another guise
