Book Spotlight: An Echo of the Fae by Jenelle Schmidt

Today on the blog, I'm featuring Jenelle Schmidt's newest book, An Echo of the Fae.

Echo enjoys the peace and solitude of the Faeorn forest, regardless of how strange spending time in the “haunted” wood seems to others.

But on the cusp of her thirteenth birthday, the discovery of a family secret reveals why Echo has never been drawn to the sea like her mother. This discovery shakes the foundations of her world and sends Echo on a quest, not merely into the forest, but into the heart of the fae-l...

Book Spotlight: Beast of the Night by E.E. Rawls

Today on the blog, I'm featuring E.E. Rawls' latest release, Beast of the Night.

A one-armed, practical girl. A rude lord hiding a curse. A dark secret with the town’s fate hanging in the balance.

A Beauty and the Beast retelling with an Austrian twist and a new breed of curse.

When Rosen moves to Freudendorf—a secluded town in the Alps—with her dad, he vanishes on her and the debt collectors come to call: taking her into slave labor. As if that wasn't bad enough, just when all her hopes and dr...

Thank You, Ravi

[image error]Given his recent cancer diagnosis, its a difficult time for all those whose lives have been touched by the renowned Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias. A great many of us, myself included, are heartbroken, as we are coping with the prospect of losing someone who has had a profound, personal impact on our walk with Jesus Christ. I do firmly believe in miracles, and I pray that Ravi will be with us for years to come, but regardless of the outcome, I am deeply saddened by the struggle that he...

Dragons & Ravens, a new novella in the Draev Guardians series by E.E. Rawls, has been released today! I read the first novel in this series last year and really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to diving into this story. You can check out my review of Book 1, Strayborn, here.

Is Missy the Final Master?

In 2017, one of the most prominent villains in all of Doctor Who canon was killed off.

Again.

The difference was, this time, there didn't seem to be much chance of the Master coming back. After all, in this particular case, the Master was killed by…the Master. Murdered by her earlier self (whom, granted, had just been murdered by her), Missy lay dead in an exploding Cyber-ship, with no hope of regeneration.

Except that in 2020, a new version of the Master appeared to menace the Thirteenth...

Doctor Who on Audio: Where to Start

[image error]Here we are again. Another Doctor Who series has concluded, fans are furiously debating each other about deep questions of canon…business as usual. But I think we're all agreed that we already miss the Doctor, whether we're satisfied with her most recent adventures or not.

The question is, what on Earth, or multiversal variations thereupon, or other planets entirely, do we do now? How will we manage without Doctor Who in our lives?

We don'thave to, silly. We are Whovians. Time is not the boss...

Doctor Who Series 12 Review: Why It Didn’t Work

[image error]Now that I've had some time to ruminate on “The Timeless Children” and its implications for Doctor Who as a whole, I'm ready to share my overall thoughts on Series 12.

Before we start, SPOILER WARNING: I'm going to be diving into huge spoilers for Series 12 right from the get-go, so don't read on if you're not caught up on the show.

Also, I want to make it clear that I am not a confirmed Chibnall-hater attempting to drum up outrage clicks. My previous Series 12 posts and reviews will bear out...

Doctor Who Series 12 Finale: The Timeless Children Review

[image error]Yes, I'm typing this up and posting it in the middle of the night because…well, that should be obvious to anyone who's seen the episode.

Let's just slap a big old SPOILER WARNING right at the beginning of this post, shall we? I don't really think I can do a “Quick and Spoiler-Free Review” section this time around. “The Timeless Children” is a little too complex for that.

I have to confess, I was dreading this episode. Series 12 has been a pretty fun ride, overall, but I knew that Chris...
