Frozen 2 Inspired “Frozen Heart” cards

I am excited to be collaborating with Frozen 2 on behalf of Walt Disney Studios to bring you this blog post and thank them for their generous support!

Frozen Heart Cards DIY

Since seeing Frozen 2, Jack has declared it to be his favorite movie. I have been so inspired to create using paper in various ways and thought it would be perfect to do an origami inspired card, which could be used for any occasion. If you’re looking for a fun spin on a Valentine’s Day card or a thank you card for a gift you got recently, I think this might be the perfect project.

Frozen 2 supplies

Supplies: - bowl (smaller than square origami paper) - origami paper - 2 pieces of 8.5”x11” cardstock - glue - scissors - pencil - foam pop dots - printer

Podcast: Slowing Down and Doing Less with Kate Northrup

In today’s modern world, everyone is in a rush to get all of the boxes checked off on their task list. What if we took the time to slow down, do less and really appreciate every single moment? That’s what I talked about today with Kate Northrup. Kate is an entrepreneur, author, speaker and podcast host who teaches the world to do more with less. We chat about taking care of yourself by leaning on others for support and letting go of micromanaging. She shares why you need to make self-care a part of your daily life rather than using it as a reward for achievement and the fulfillment that comes with getting in touch with your body, appreciating the fullness of your life and finding ways to slow down.

What’s in this episode:

Kate’s advice for overachievers and the art of doing less

Teaching children by modeling and knowing that you’re enough even when you do less

Doing things for yourself and creating a sense of wholeness within yourself

Giving yourself more space and leaning on others for support

Letting go of micromanagement and trusting in others

How to clear out time to do what you love and prioritize yourself

Setting boundaries for others to put yourself first

Making self-care a part of your daily life instead of a reward

Rituals that Kate incorporates into her day

Judging your day on how you felt vs. what you did

Getting in touch with your body and building rest into your schedule

Appreciating the fullness of your life and finding ways to systematically slow down

Kate’s struggles with postpartum anxiety

Trusting in your feelings and intuition

Podcast: 19 Things I’ve Learned This Year

As we get ready to close out the year, I like to look back at the memories, lessons and events that stand out to me, especially as I look to the future. There is so much I am looking forward to in the next year, but before we dive into a new decade, I wanted to take some time to acknowledge the goodness that took place in the last 12 months. The journey wasn’t what I originally pictured, but the process of Crafting a Life We Love can look so different than we initially think. Today, I’m going to dive deep into 19 of my top takeaways from 2019 and the past decade. My hope is that this list is illuminating for you and helps you on your own journey.

What’s in this episode:

Why valuing connections is important.

Make time for what matters most.

Create space, pause and breath to be present in your life.

Embrace community and allow it to help you Craft a Life You Love.

Who you are doesn’t depend on results or to do lists.

Recognize and celebrate the wins in your life.

Dark times can teach us too so embrace them with gratitude.

Have a love of learning and never stop.

When faced with challenges, lean into resilience and perseverance.

Why you are always a work in progress.

Trust the process and continue to put yourself out there.

Instead of worrying about the future, remain present.

Take your MEDS: Meditation, Exercise, Diet and Sleep.

Craft a healthy mindset and work on creating healthy habits

Embrace change and transformation.

Gratitude is the best attitude.

Take time to reflect on your life and memories.

Learn how to surrender and let go of control.

Show up for yourself and others.

Get out of your own way.

Podcast: Make What You Love with Katie Sabin

032-Katie-Sabin.jpg

I was so happy to speak with today’s guest, Katie Sabin. Katie is a maker who got started on her creative journey after having her twins and realizing she wanted to create something for herself. Today she shares how she got started with her Etsy shop and how her husband helped her come up with her business name, Just Add Sunshine. We discuss imposter syndrome and how she struggled with identifying as a “creative” and “artist”. Like me, Katie feels most alive when making things with her hands. In fact, she’s made it a practice to spend time creating every single day because it helps her feel more like herself.

What’s in this episode:

How Katie got her start on her creative journey after having her twins

How she got started selling at craft shows

Getting started with her Etsy shop

How Katie and her husband came up with her business name

Why she struggled to identify with being called a “creative” and an “artist”

How Katie’s home is set up for her work

Where she finds her inspiration for her work

How Katie and Amy met each other

How she got into creating stickers

What balance means to Katie and how she manages her role as a mom, wife and creator

How exercise has helped Katie in all areas of her life

Where Katie wants to go next with her business

How she crafts a life that she loves by surrounding herself with things and people that she loves and finding inspiration from things around her

Katie’s advice for someone wanting to make their hobby a side business

Her advice for staying positive during hard times

About Katie:

Katie Sabin is a maker, a creator and owner of Just Add Sunshine Inc, a successful at-home Etsy shop that is filled with colorful signs and happy stickers. She is married to her high school sweetheart, a mom to four great kids, and an avid crafter. Katie loves bright colors, creating of any kind and filling her home with positive, uplifting messages.

Your-Brightest-Year-Yet.jpg

Your plans, hopes and dreams matter. They are meaningful reminders of how you can craft a life you love. By creating space for your intentions, you begin the beautiful process of taking an idea and allowing for it to come to fruition. Embrace what’s ahead and allow yourself to let go of any negativity and self doubt. Live in greater alignment with your passions and purpose. How can you shine your brightest?

One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is to embrace our creativity. As you probably know, I love traveling around the world to spread ideas, positivity, and a love for all things paper-related. Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out a way to be everywhere at once (still working on that one) and many of you have been asking for a way to connect and create together on a deeper level. I’m here to let you know that the next best thing is right around the corner.

Your Brightest Year Yet is a brand new workshop that has been a year in the making! It’s filled to the brim with crafty know-how for the ultimate 2020 glow-up. Let me be your creative coach for the first 6 weeks of the new year to lay the foundation for you to shine your brightest. In the online workshop, you'll create a vibrant traveler’s notebook using tried-and-true tips, tricks, and techniques from the comfort of your own crafting space, coffee shop or anywhere with good light and WiFi.

Through December 10th, we are offering Early Bird Pricing. Come grab your spot!

Also - If you're one of the first 20 to sign up - you'll also receive a special personalized notebook in the mail! We will open up the classroom with a warm welcome on December 20th and then the first lesson launches Jan 1, 2020.

Hope you'll join in on the fun as we embark on a fruitful new decade!
