Take Action and Be Brave With Your Life
Usually my work is all about positivity and joy and hope and love and light. But these past couple weeks, there have been some long-standing issues of injustice that have been brought front and center. As a POC, I stand with the Black community in supporting the fight against racial injustice. I’m stepping up and being brave to use my voice for the things I believe in. I recognize that it’s not enough to say we are allies, but we must also take action to do our part. I have been listening and learning.

I want to continue to do my part. I have added brand new prints to the Digital Shop including the one above. 100% of the proceeds from all the prints in the shop from now through June 18 will be donated to the Black Lives Matter Global Network, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Black Art Futures Fund. My company will also be matching donations up to $5000.
If you’re feeling inspired, I invite you to take a look through the new prints in the Digital Shop.
What are some ways you’re doing your part? Please share in the comments below!

Rainbow Computer Accessories
There’s nothing that makes me happier than rainbows! I always get asked why I love them so much. There’s just something magical about the colors in the world in one place. When I see a rainbow, I feel hope and happiness. They make me smile.

And of course I gotta love my rainbow accessories! My rainbow keyboard cover is from Amazon and my rainbow mouse pad is from The Crafted Life.

Are there any other fun rainbow accessories I should add to my collection? Let me know in a comment below!

Embracing the Collective Pause with Audrey Woollen

Even in these unprecedented times that we’re all collectively experiencing, there’s still an opportunity to find beauty in every moment. Today I brought on Audrey Woollen. Audrey is the founder and creative behind Urbanic Paper Boutique. In this episode, we talk about how she got started in the stationery industry and decided to start her business. She shares her biggest hiring mistake (and what she learned from it). Audrey and I discuss her journey of navigating her business through the pandemic and what she’s learned from having to pause. You’ll hear how she’s handing business projections and how her relationship with her customers has evolved through this crisis.
What’s in this episode:
How Audrey got into stationery and started her business
Making the decision to shift her career into this passion
Figuring out your path as it unfolds
A huge mistake Audrey made in hiring the wrong person
The flood of encouragement she received after posting a GoFundMe to get her business through the pandemic
The new relationship she’s developed with her customers through this crisis
Why now is the time for people to support small businesses
Rethinking how you want to live
How Audrey’s handling her business projections now
The silver lining that she’s found with the collective pause

About Audrey:
With an eye for design and a heart for paper, Audrey Woollen is the creative behind the Urbanic brand, building a community for paper and design enthusiasts. Sourcing the best-of-the-best from makers all over the world, she has successfully blended modern style and vintage charm.
She serves as a consultant for emerging and established lines, and has given dozens of talks and seminars throughout both the US and Europe. Audrey has been a board advisor at the National Stationery Show, a judge for the Louie Awards for PaperFest London and is on the editorial board for Stationery Trends Magazine. She is a working momma with a creative vision and considered an industry leader in the stationery community.

Coloring Outside the Lines *Altenew Blog Hop*

Sometimes we need to change things up a little bit. As much as I love the idea of coloring with watercolors, I decided to add a little twist for my project for Altenew’s Watercolor Therapy Blog Hop. While on a recent Zoom meeting, I found myself doodling after making a fun watercolor background. It was so therapeutic to watch the colors blend together and once they were dry, I added some floral details in pencil. The meeting lasted 2 hours, so it was a great opportunity to explore all kinds of leaves and flowers using the new Artists’ Watercolors and Watercolor Papers.

The look of the pencil was appealing and I may even try and make it into a download so you can print it out and trace it if you’d like. It might feel like reverse coloring in a way. For a video on how it came together, feel free to take a look on Instagram.

Enjoy checking out all the lovely projects on the hop:

Rainbow Sticker Planner Fun
Remember the joy of collecting stickers when you were a kid? Oh wait, you still love it like I do?! Well as fun as collecting is - it’s actually way more fun (IMHO) to use them. It’s a great activity to not only get those creative juices flowing, but also to find joy in the littlest things. Not only am I cheered up when I look at this rainbow spread in my planner, but I have a feeling others might feel the same way.

It was even more fun seeing so many of you creating your own rainbow sticker spreads!

From left to right, top to bottom: @nia.not.far, @all_things_beautiful_13, @mintpapergf, @farmhouseandhearts, @thomaslavonnreedy, @pr_plans, @austinplannergirl, @love_sparkles_shop and @boreboletamax
This would be a great way to use up all the wonderful stickers you’ve been saving. Check out my process in this video.

Altenew 6th Anniversary Blog Hop!

Hi friends - hope you’re staying healthy and safe! Although I have been a bit absent from this blog, I have been keeping up with sharing ideas and creativity on Instagram, YouTube, and newsletter. In light of current events, Altenew considered canceling the celebrations. However, through this blog hop, they wanted to spread joy and encourage others to be there for one another and give back during these uncertain and challenging times. Since we are staying safer at home in Los Angeles and have been since March 14, I wanted to create a project to hang in my studio or home as a reminder. It can easily be adapted to be a card as well.

Here’s a video showing in detail the project that I made using the new Artists’ Watercolors, Parlor Palm Die set and Watercolor Papers.
Some photos of the steps to get to the final project:
