Cranking Up The Victrola

Ok, by now I figure everyone and their brother has heard of the book, read the book, rolled their eyes at the book... so it's no big deal to post a semi-spoilery excerpt from the forthcoming FULL CAST AUDIO version of ELS:

Also up the Théâtre Illuminata website, with Kari Armstrong's artwork (like this)

The following snippet is plot spoilery.

Did I mention plot spoilery???

"On the show" should mean ON the show

For those of you who missed it, Katie Holmes taped a tribute to Judy Garland that was aired during the SYTYCD 100th episode last night.  I thought it was meh, dancing and singing, but mostly ridiculous that it was filmed/recorded and she was nowhere near the studio or the audience.

The husband's "It's nice to see they unhooked her from the Collective long enough to tape this thing" was made of win, though.

*snerk*

Zombie Dance, Thriller-style

Oh, Kayla, you are perfection when you move. And your solo was beautimous.

Though I did fear for your eyes with the smearing of make-up... GREAT dramatic touch. And that end pose. *phew*

Also made of love: Jeanine's solo, and Tyce's number about cancer. I cried through most of that.  *has yet to find a clip*

Also: Dear FoxTV, you totally suck for not allowing people to blog ABOUT YOUR SHOW with video clips.

#TweetSulk, 2009

So, I am not going to Comic-Con, and I've tripped over my lower lip at least three times this morning.

To celebrate the sulkage, I'm going to host a #TweetSulk party on Twitter... I'll be there in my tiara on Friday night, 4-7 pm PST (the same as I did for the ELS launch party) and then the Virtual Basement Rec Room will be open throughout the weekend.

If you are also missing the festivities in San Diego, you're invited for virtual cupcakes, caramel popcorn balls, glitter, silliness and prizes.  I

Three Things Before Coffee

1) Publishers Weekly reviewed Eyes Like Stars:

Mantchev's first novel feels dreamlike (plot points are often revealed during impromptu performances), yet underneath is a solid story about the search for happiness and identity. Inside jokes will delight drama club devotees (“Gertrude pointed at Macbeth, who was holding up a cruller and muttering, 'Is this a doughnut I see before me?' ”), but this passionate debut should attract a broader readership as well.

I think "passionate debut" is better tha

Fairies And Demons Contest!!

There is a war coming... and the Dark will collide with the Light.

The authors of Prophecy of the Sisters and Eyes Like Stars are gathering their magical armies for a battle to end all battles.

Which side will prevail: the glittering, vicious rambunctiousness of the fairies, or the insidious malevolent evil of the demons?

  How To Fight:
Show us your best fairy/demon warrior costume and weapons. Hint: the fairies would have armor-of-random-bits and probably fling pies, while demons... well... they w

So [info:] lasirenadolce  and [info:] csinman  both have fabulous photos up here and here of the University Bookstore event for Eyes Like Stars last night...

First off, I'd like to thank everyone, EVERYONE.  Bookstore peeps and cupcake bakers and all the awesome local authors and readers and bookbloggers that showed up.  I hope everyone had a cupcake (they were SO good) and enjoyed themselves!  I think I was operating in the same giddy haze that I haven't experienced since my wedding day (or the arrival of the S

Hooray! Wait... what?

There are things we celebrate, knowing they are Good, and not necessarily understanding all the complexities of the Good does not make them any less Good, but it does explain the "bwah? Really?!" look on my face when I say:

Eyes Like Stars is already "back to press."

So this is what glee/bwah looks like.  ;)
