Connect Present Action to Immediate and Long-term Rewards
How does a person connect present action to long-term rewards? The key is immediate. Lets say I go to the gym to work out. That's my present action. As I'm lifting weights or swimming, I'm thinking about the long-term rewards. My muscles will not deteriorate at a normal rate of one pound a year. I'll gain in strength lifting weight. My mind will be ready for the day as I swim. I'll reduce the possiblty of disease. Act in the now, live in the future.
