Norwegian Cruise Liner & Navy Memories
Norwegian sets course for Asia, Australia. The ship is a 2,348-passenger vessel and is set to leave port in October. The ship will operate out of Singapore and Hong Kong as part of a seasonal deployment. It reminds me of a West-Pac I took when I was in the Navy. While on board, USS Kitty Hawk we traveled west, stopping at Hawaii, Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore and then Australia.
I enjoyed going to sleep on board ship, to waken at the sights of a new port. Traveling west we lost hours, so our night time was shortened. (When we came back the extra hours were added to our work time. Thank you, Navy.)
It took us nearly a day to travel through the Phillippine Islands. Upon waking I went above deck. Island after island came into few. Beautiful. Palm Trees. Deep Blue Waters. Tropical Air. Thousands of Islands. Sandy Beaches.
So yes, I'd love to be on one of these cruises. Letting the ship rock you to sleep at night. Watching the water stream behind the ship. See the setting sun. Dolphins crossing the breaking waves. Salt- water splashing.
