Great Weekend
Great Weekend
Had a great weekend that involved fighter jets, dachshund races, pizza, and kuo-toa.
On Saturday, Sue and I rode our bikes down to the lakefront to see the air show. It was great, but the Internet weather forecast had us prepare for rain, so we were far less prepared for lots of sun. I had to buy a hat while we were there, and luckily we brought sunscreen (Sue still got a bit burned though). Fighter jets, stunt planes, and WW II era planes, often flying together. Very cool. And skyd

ENnies Voting Now Open

You can now vote for the ENnies. All kinds of cool products to choose from, and most of all I think it's cool to just support the awards. It's a great way to participate in--and show your support for--the hobby. It's a great way to express your desire to continue to see quality products.
And don't forget Dungeonaday.com! It's up against a lot of great sites and they're, well, all free. But it's really cool that the ENnies even recognized Dungeonaday.com at all, to be frank.

Warehouse 13
Warehouse 13
So we tried Warehouse 13, and I just don't know what to make of the show. It has flashes of real inspiration and casual extravagance of creativity (which I really like), but... everyone talks and acts like they're characters in a Sci Fi TV show. None of the main characters are particularly likable. And, what seems to bother me most, only about 2% of the show actually has anything to do with the eponymous warehouse.
If Fringe wasn't between seasons, I'd probably forget about this show

Technojoy
Technojoy
My favorite comedian, Eddie Izzard, talks about how while some people have technofear, he has technojoy. He loves new technology, and I'm right there with him. Now that I'm past 99.99% of the hassles of transferring everything to the new computer (and getting used to some of the new aspects of it), I'm loving it. (I'm still desperately looking for a recommendation for a video card--preferably with two inputs, one of which would be DVI--that will work with a Dell Inspiron 545 without pro

Twitter Power!
Twitter Power!
As I've mentioned here before, I recently joined Twitter with the goal of using it to recommend things I like or feel are worth recommending. A few days ago, the guys who make Gaming Paper sent me a couple of rolls just to have a look-see. It's pretty cool stuff, so I recommended it on Twitter. Apparently, immediately afterword they sold like 100 rolls of the stuff. I'm not sure if the moral of the story is that Twitter is a powerful tool or that everyone should send me free stuf

What Did You Do Today?
What Did You Do Today?
When Sue comes home from work each day, we talk about each other's days. Frequently, when she asks me what I did in a given day, I simply say, "I got a bunch of miscellaneous things done, and then found two hours to write." When she asks what the various things were, I can never remember. Plus, it sounds kind of strange and even sad that in an eight (or so) hour day, I only wrote for two hours. (Although the truth is, I get most of my writing done at night.)
So the other day

Gaaah.
Gaaah.
I can remember when getting a new computer was a time of great joy. I remember my first computer, my second computer, and my third, and the days that I got them. The excitement at the great new features, the increased speed, and all the rest. It was like Christmas.
What happened? I got a new computer last week and I feel like I've been doing little but hammering it into something I can use. It's not been fun at all. It's been a pain. Transferring files, downloading programs and drivers, go

Two Dungeonaday.com Announcements
Two Dungeonaday.com Announcements
Two cool things! One update!
1. We have a new sponsor at Dungeonaday.com. Miniatures Building Authority creates amazing (AMAZING!) buildings for miniatures. I used to use this stuff extensively in my Ptolus campaign and everyone marveled over them. Now I'll be building Brindenford using these cool buildings, and maybe finding creative and surprising ways to use some it elsewhere in Dragon's Delve! (Let me also just put in that the guys at MBA are really nice fello

Nice
Nice
It's nice to encounter smart people who assume you are also smart. At the Fountains of Wayne concert on Saturday night, one band member referred to creating a rebus without directly explaining what that means.

Life and Stuff
Life and Stuff
My mom reads my blog, but she only likes the entries where I talk about how things are going in my life. Usually, I don't use this blog to write about things unless I think they're of interest to most of you, but you know, moms are important.
We just got a window air conditioner unit for our upstairs because our central air conditioner just can't handle the top floor. We have a tall house with three floors, so our top floor is like an attic in terms of temperature. In other words, h
