Lisa Birnbach’s FIVE THINGS Podcast Interview with Chip Kidd

Chip Kidd was a recent guest on Lisa Birnbach’s Five Things With Lisa Birnbach Podcast. These two have a history together considering that they both collaborated on a book back in 2010 titled, TRUE PREP (Published by Random House).

This was a sort of a sequel of Birnbach’s ultra-classic book, “The Official Preppy Handbook” that was published in the 1980’s. So, I guess you can say their book was really a more updated modern version of the classic book.

Here are some examples of TRUE PREP. The first photo is the Hardcover Edition & the second one is the Paperback Version.

OK, now back to the Podcast Interview information, ha! Lisa & Chip got together at her Studio to record a “5 THINGS” episode that had a special theme, “FIVE THINGS THAT MAKE LIFE BETTER”.

Down below is the original post of that interview. Please be sure to share it with all your Friends & Family! Oh yeah, also ENJOY!

#MARVELOCITY “The Marvel Comics Art Of Alex Ross” Exhibit Opens March 9th, DUNN Museum in Illinois

The work of a renowned comic book artist is coming to the Dunn Museum in Libertyville, Illinois. Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross will be on exhibit from March 9 through September 8, 2019.

Considered one of the greatest artists in the field of comic books, Alex Ross has created some of the most iconic images known to fans today. For nearly 30 years, he has revitalized classic superheroes into works of fine art by illustrating characters including Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm from the X-Men, the Avengers, Black Panther and many more.

“The Dunn Museum is honored to be working with Alex Ross on his first museum exhibition in the Chicago metropolitan area,” said Andrew Osborne, superintendent of educational facilities at the Lake County Forest Preserves, which operates the Dunn Museum. “We have talked about doing a comic book exhibit for years. Given the current popularity of Marvel and the release of the “Marvelocity” book, we think the timing is perfect for an exhibition of this type. We are grateful for the opportunity to present Alex Ross’ remarkable body of work.”

Alex Ross, often referred to as the “Norman Rockwell of comics,” started his craft at a young age. When he was 3, he was drawing TV commercials from memory, and by 13 he was scripting and drawing his own original comics. Ten years later at the age of 23, Ross was hired by Marvel Comics to illustrate Marvel’s central characters in the groundbreaking comic book event, Marvels (1994). Ross jokes that drawing superheroes was his only realistic option if he couldn’t actually become one.

“Dunn Museum visitors will experience a mini-documentary focusing on Ross’ work at all stages of his life,” said Steve Furnett, exhibitions and collections manager at the Dunn Museum. “The gallery will include both 2D and 3D work featuring some of Marvels greatest heroes and villains. Visitors will follow the artist’s journey from a young comic book fan, through art school, to becoming the creator of some of the comic world’s most iconic images,” he said.

“Marvelocity” is his latest release, a curated collection of his best Marvel works over his career. The book, which includes painted pages, covers, childhood artwork, and never-before-seen art, reunites Ross with author Chip Kidd and photographer Geoff Spear, who worked with Ross on a 2003 book, “Mythology,” a collection of his best works for DC Comics.
