If you book a discovery call with me now through the end of August 2024, the promotional pricing will be in place for you.

I only discuss pricing on discovery calls because I always customize a path for my book launch clients.

Revamping Book Launches for 2024 and 2025

Each month, I review what works well and what could work better based on past launches. I’m learning what is most important for authors to do, and what help launch team members need to make the launch most successful.

Based on what I’ve learned this summer, I’m making these changes starting now:

Adding more training for launch team participantsCreating a briefer launch team timeline to accommodate busy schedules and shorter attention spansEncouraging authors to add my Book Marketing Mastery resource for additional support before, during, and after the launch

I aim to help authors reach the all-important threshold of 25 Amazon reviews within one month after publication. On a discovery call with me, you’ll learn how we can partner together to reach this goal.

My Qualifications

I’ve been the book launch manager of 40+ launches since January 2022. I’ve also led the launch teams for six of my seven books. Since 2015, I’ve participated in hundreds of book launches in my annual quest to read 100 books per year. Thus, I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t work, not only from experience as a book launch manager but as a client and launch team participant. I’d love to learn about the book you’re publishing and see if it’s a good fit for my limited schedule. You can book a call with me HERE to learn more.

How Do We Pray for America Now?

How do we pray for America now, after Donald Trump faced an assassination attempt? That’s the question I’m answering today based on a prayer session I had with God today.

How Do We Pray for America Now?

At 3:00 a.m. this morning, right after I prayed for the former president’s health and safety, and comfort for the deceased attendee’s family.

I vividly remember the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan though I was only 4 years old at the time. I remember feeling scared, like our world wasn’t really a safe place. Maybe you’re feeling like that today.

As I was searching God’s heart on how to pray for America now, he surprised me with his answer.

A single word clearly flashed on my inner vision screen: Opportunity.

That one word naturally contains a flame of hope.

What America Looks Like Now

Then God redirected me back to a portion from East of Eden, a novel by John Steinbeck, that I was reading three nights ago.

Steinbeck is a great American novelist. He was a secular writer who often wrote on biblical themes.

In the early 1950’s, Steinbeck wrote about the attitudes of Americans during westward expansion before the turn of the 20th century.

As I read this passage on Thursday night, I thought how true it still rings today – Americans don’t trust themselves anymore because God is no longer primary in their lives.

But as I read this passage, I also saw an opportunity. Everyone is made to worship someone or something. In a nation brimming with suspicion and anger before this year’s election, distrust abounds. Whether they realize it or not, people are desperately seeking someone stronger than themselves to worship.

It should be obvious our human leaders are incapable of this responsibility, especially after what happened yesterday. They are just human beings like we all are. However, we must pray for them as the Bible instructs us to do, and I’m committed to doing that on a daily basis.

The Opportunity to Pray for America Now

Back to the word “opportunity.” The most recent Barna research on Gen Z, people ages 25 to roughly 13, proves that only 31 percent of them believe in the God of the Bible. Yet Barna found something new – Gen Z is the most open generation in American history to hearing the Gospel. They have a great distrust in authority and institutions, yet they are ravenous for Truth.

After thinking about this, God reminded me of this Scripture passage:

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Mt. 9:36-38 NLT

Do you see Jesus’ focus on opportunity here?He saw great opportunity in the giant harvest field of confused and helpless people who acted as if they had no leader. He had compassion on them.Note he also said the Lord is in charge.

Then he issued a call to pray in these circumstances. He wanted the disciples, and us, to pray for more harvest field workers (and be those workers too).

Pray for America Now

So this is how I’m praying for America now.

Between now and the end of the year, when I feel:

– fearful

– angry

– anxious

– confused

– frustrated

– suspicious

– despairing

– hopeless

– helpless

– disgusted

– sad

– apathetic

about our nation, I am considering those feelings a call to prayer for hope and opportunity.

I will pray with compassion for all other image bearers on both sides of the aisle.

I will be praying that God’s will be done, and that he would draw people closer to him in this time – ones who have never responded to him before, and those who are complacent in their faith.

I will pray for the current harvest field workers – the church leaders and the missionaries in America. I will also pray for more harvest workers, including myself.

Before I walk out the door, I will pray that God will reveal opportunities to me wherever I go. I want opportunities to shine light in the darkness of our culture. I desire opportunities to show consideration, encouragement, and kindness to strangers in our angry, distressed culture. This might be the only picture of Jesus they see, and I want to pique their curiosity with love, joy, and peace.

Join Me to Pray for America Now

If you would like to join me in prayers for America, you can follow me on YouTube and TikTok. I will also be sharing them daily to my Instagram stories.

A final note: I firmly believe in the power of prayer to turn our nation around. In my own past two years of personal hell, thousands of people prayed me through it. My counselor of 15 years repeatedly told me there is no other explanation for how well I’m weathering the storms than the power of many people praying for me. If God can carry me through my intense trials by the prayers of others, surely he can work revival and hope in our country through the prayers of many committed Christians.

Will you join me in praying with hope for America?

The Secret to Book Launch Success

Here is the secret to book launch success, plus news about my resource for Christian authors: Book Marketing Mastery.

The Secret to Book Launch Success

I say this to all my clients – the secret to book launch success is the strength of the author’s network.

As a book launch manager, I’m 100 percent committed to giving you the best service possible and motivate your team to share on social media, plus leave those all-important Amazon reviews.

I also share every book launch to my social media platforms to invite as many people as possible to join the launch.

However, the true success of the launch depends on you, the author.

By inviting at least 50 people you personally know, and ideally 100 or more, you will have the most motivated people on your team.

This takes a significant investment of time before the launch ever begins. The earlier you get started on this, the better.

The process will be more effective if you personally and intentionally invite people with messages, voice texts, and videos individualized for each person.

You need to let them know how much they mean to you first, then how much it would mean to you for them to help you with your book launch.

If you take the time to do this very important step, my work with you will be far more effective. Then during the launch, you’ll be able to enjoy the process more.

Marketing Plan for Your Book

I’m booking new clients looking for marketing strategies for books to be published as well as books that you’ve already published. You can book a free discovery call with me HERE to talk about social media strategies and book launches.

How Your Book Benefits from a Marketing Plan

Here is how your book benefits from a marketing plan, plus news about my resource for Christian authors: Book Marketing Mastery.

How Your Book Benefits from a Marketing Plan

So many authors just want to write. They don’t just dislike marketing – they HATE it.

I have heard more than one Christian author say, “If only one person reads my book and gets saved/grows closer to God, that’s good enough for me.”

While I respect that viewpoint, I also go back to the parable of the talents when I think about marketing Christian books.

If you simply self-publish, or even hybrid/traditionally publish, and don’t have a marketing plan, you may get a handful of reviews and perhaps a few dozen book sales. This hard fact usually dampens an author’s momentum and is discouraging due to the tears, sweat, blood, and spiritual warfare that went into the writing of the book (I know this well as an author of seven books).

Speaking the truth in love – that’s somewhat like the person with one talent who was motivated by fear and perhaps ignorance about investing.

To be the person with ten talents (who will be given even more), you need to ask, seek, and knock daily in marketing your book. This is an investment of time and resources that will reap more rewards in the future.

Benefits from a Marketing Plan

Here’s an example of these rewards. When the launch was happening for my book, Transforming Your Thought Life, one of the launch team members shared a post. Then a missionary in Guatemala said she bought the book and would use it in her Sunday school there.

That amazing reach was not possible with my own tribe. It required the use of the marketing strategies in the launch to reach this sister in Christ and many others in another country.

In a phone call with my publisher, I learned another truth. He said that a book needs to be sold twice – once from the store, and again from a person’s bookshelf. The person who buys it has many things competing for his or her attention, and your marketing plan will remind them to pick your book back up and read it (and give you that all-important Amazon review too).

Three Reasons Book Launches Now Require Preorders

Here are three reasons book launches now require preorders, plus book launches you can join now, and news about my book launch services.

Three Reasons Book Launches Now Require Preorders

You may remember pre-pandemic days when you could join a book launch and not be required to purchase the book. You got a PDF to read and were expected to leave an Amazon review.

For the most part, those days are over. But I believe this is good.

Here are 3 reasons book launches that publishers big and small now require preorders:

1) Amazon has cracked down on false reviews. This is actually good for all of us, because we want legitimate reviews, right?
We used to have to say “I received a preview copy” in our reviews, and now Amazon cracks down even on phrases like that.
However, when you purchase a book on Amazon and then leave a review, it shows up as a verified purchase, which shows legitimacy. It is also approved faster by Amazon.
As a book launch manager, I believe Amazon reviews are the most important part of a book launch so the book will continue to sell itself. So this new point is very important.

2) Preorders rev the algorithm and also stock Amazon with a good amount of books. You’ll be less likely to run out of books the first week on Amazon if you have a decent amount of preorders, which you can get through social media shares of your launch team.

3) Here’s a very practical reason: when people get something for free, they don’t value it. This is why publishers no longer allow 300 people to sign up for a team for free, because less than 100 people would leave a review.
Even if you only pay $2.99 for the Kindle version, you have some skin in the game. You will value it more and be more inclined to leave a review. It’s simple psychology that applies to many areas of life, including book launches.

Yes, it’s still standard practice to offer the PDF as a backup, but only to people who have preordered the book.

Indie authors have a great opportunity – you can release your low-priced Kindle version first so you have verified purchases from your team and more sales, and release the paperback later in the launch.

Want more expert advice on book launches? Book a call with me HERE. I’d love to work with you on your book launch!

Right now I’m running two launch teams – one for a fiction book, and one for a non-fiction book. I have several more launches coming up in June/July, and they would be great ways for you to serve!

A Creative Method of Christian Service You Can Do at Home

Here’s a creative method of Christian service you can do at home you might not have considered before, plus opportunities for you to serve now!

A Creative Method of Christian Service You Can Do at Home

I remember when the book Purpose-Driven Life was the “it” book in church.

I learned so many great things from it, especially about Christian service.

It taught me that serving in church wasn’t really an option – it was a requirement. Yet the book affirmed my giftings and areas where service made sense for them.

At the time, I had never joined a book launch. That didn’t begin until around 2015. Since then, I’ve participated on hundreds of launch teams, and now I’m a book launch manager for over 30 books.

As an author of seven books, please hear me out as I explain why serving on a launch team is a creative method of Christian service you can do from home:

1) Amazon reviews make or break a book. An author needs to get to certain thresholds of reviews on Amazon so that Amazon will organically put the book in front of more potential customers’ eyes and start selling itself. Your two or three minutes of leaving a review helps more people see Christian books that edify spiritual growth. It also helps the author sell more copies of all subsequent books he or she writes. I posit that your Amazon review is worth even more to the author’s career and influence than the actual book purchase.

2) As a launch team member, you are asked to share graphics about the book on social media. By sharing, you reach people that the author cannot reach in his or her own circles. You spread the message further and wider so more people can learn about the book and benefit from it. One example – a missionary in Guatemala saw a post one of my launch team members shared about my book, and ordered it for her Sunday school class. That wouldn’t have been possible through my own social media following – what a gift!

Here’s the great news – if you are not currently involved in serving a local church (which I highly recommend, by the way), you can participate on a launch team and still be serving. It’s also good news if you are homebound for a season.

Right now I’m running two launch teams – one for a fiction book, and one for a non-fiction book. I have several more launches coming up in June/July, and they would be great ways for you to serve!

Why Join a Book Launch?

Book launches are fun! They give you early access to the books before they are published. You get insider information in the Facebook groups where the book launches are held. You also get chances to win prizes simply for sharing posts about the books on social media. It’s a great way to help spread the word about books you love to read.

How to Get Booked Twice as a Podcast Guest

I’ve been blessed to get booked twice as a podcast guest (more than once). It’s wonderful to be interviewed not only once, but twice (or more) by podcast hosts. To be a guest who is so valuable that podcast hosts want to have you back, here are my best tips for you.

How to Get Booked Twice as a Podcast GuestBe ultra-prepared.

Podcast interviewers LOVE when you arrive well-prepared. By covering little details like responding to emails in a timely fashion, arriving a bit early for the interview, and sharing exclusive stories on the interview, you’ll be a star interviewee who really stands out.

I also can’t underestimate the importance of listening to several of the podcast host’s previous episodes before your interview. The host will feel appreciated if you thoughtfully mention past topics and how they have helped you. Yes, this is a time investment, but you will have guaranteed returns. Be intentional about your research, and you’ll be rewarded.

Be relentlessly helpful.

This is the best platform-building advice I have ever received. I got it from Tim Grahl, a book launch expert. I’ve applied this advice in all aspects of my writing and speaking ministry. When podcast hosts see you as a hugely generous person, they sense you have lots to offer to their audience, and they’ll keep coming back for more.

Be relentlessly helpful not only in your podcast interview, but to the interviewer. If you are a published author, ask them if they’d like a free copy of your book, and get it to them ASAP. Suggest that you could be interviewed for bonuses on their Patreon account. Use this tip I learned from Bryan Harris: If you look at what they have to offer, then creatively offer a solution for a gap in their offerings, they will be impressed and willing to work with you again and again.

Be prepared to share.

The day the podcast interview goes live, be prepared to share it everywhere. Send the link to your email list and share it on all your social media outlets. Share it to your stories as well as your posts on Facebook and Instagram. Tag the podcast host in each of these places so they see your efforts to share the episode.

When a podcast host has social proof that you shared their podcast, they will know you’re devoted to spreading the word far and wide. And if they see a spike in their stats, they will unquestionably know it’s because you took the time to share the episode with a wider audience.

Be assertive.

Did you have a great experience with a podcast host? Chances are, in a year or two, they may be willing to host you again. What can you offer them now that you didn’t offer last time? Maybe you have a new book or product to promote. Perhaps they have shifted their focus and you can bless them with a new vein of content. Go back and do your research again, then reach out to them, describing how your new idea can benefit their audience.

These tips have gotten me several return interviews, and I hope they help you book double or triple appearances on more podcasts.
