Wake the Dream Teaser

I am so stinking excited for my newest paranormal romance to release. This one is a little different from my last series, a little more lighthearted but with all of the magic and kick butt moments that make this kind of genre special. There is also a healthy dose of romance between two very unlikely individuals.

Illaria’s only hope of escape is a man who may
inadvertently lead her to death.

Illaria and her sister are Fae trapped in this world, hiding out in plain sight.
But when her sister goes missing, Illaria vows to do anything to bring her
home. Even if that means teaming up with a human detective who would rather
needle her than do his job.

Gifted with the Sight, Kieran Shanahan knows things others do not, which makes
him the least popular man in the Marsh precinct. He’s given a case no one else
wants, and in an attempt to prove his worth, he vows to solve it, even if it
means dealing with a Fae who would rather decapitate him than sit on the
sidelines.

Soon, the unlikely duo will have to work together to find Illaria’s sister. If
they fail, someone…or something…will use them to destroy each other.

Fans of Charlaine Harris and Karen Marie Moning will sink their teeth into
this new, paranormal town. Welcome to Hedgehill Marsh.

And HERE is a little teaser for you!

He watched her sink back down, tracking her every movement.
“Why don’t you tell me why you’re really here today,” he said.

“You don’t think I’m here to find out more about my sister?”

“I think there can be multiple reasons. Layers upon layers.
Your sister is the surface layer, but I can see that there’s more.” He leaned
back, legs crossed and the toe of his sneaker scuffing against the side of the
desk.

“I’m all about the surface pleasures. What you see is what
you get,” Illaria insisted.

Kieran tapped out a melody with his toes before shifting
again, organizing the files on his desk for something to do. “You know, my
older brother had a way of doing things. A way of being and acting to let
everyone know he was the one in charge. And when he left for college, right
before…anyway, he left and I didn’t know what to do with myself. I’d gotten so
used to standing in his shadow that without it, I had a difficult time
adjusting.”

“Are you trying to say my sister was the one in charge? Get
real, Shanahan. You have no idea about me.”

“I’m merely telling you a story. If it rings true with the
relationship you had with your sister, then so be it.”

“Have,” Illaria spit out. “Present tense. And instead of
reminding me again, you can focus on the case and finding her. Believe me. I
can beat myself up well enough on my own. So just do your job because you know
what? I’m tired. And you didn’t even bother to call me back to say you’d found
something. You just left me.” The breath left her at the words and a sharp rise
of panic seized her when her throat closed. “You left me alone,” she said
again. The blind abyss inside of her was back, opening up to swallow her whole.
“I have no one here.”

The sympathy written on his face should have brought
answering anger but instead, Illaria sat quickly. She hadn’t realized how alone
she truly was, and how much she needed someone to understand. To understand how
she felt.

Kieran’s features shifted into impassive. “I can’t make you
feel whole, Illaria. I don’t owe you an explanation for what I do on this case,
either, and the sooner you understand and stop feeling self-pity, the sooner I
can help you find Yelena.”

The ringing in her ears became a roar. “I don’t pity
myself.”

Excerpt from SHADOWS COME-Available now for only 99c

The vial was the size
of a salt shaker with a slender neck and filled to the brim with glowing blue
liquid, a cork stopper at the top. The nugget of anticipation in her gut warmed
at the sight. Finally! She set the table to rights with a smile prying her lips
high. After all the dead ends and wasted trips. The prize was hers. She placed
the vial on the tabletop and stared at it for a moment.

Georgia definitely
wasn’t expecting a hand to fall on her shoulder. Whirling around, she realized
the clouds outside had passed, leaving the interior of the cabin lit like it
was day. Which meant she no longer had the luxury of invisibility.

Behind her was a
hulking man the size of a sasquatch. He filled the interior of the cabin with
his frame, moonlight shining down and illuminating beachy blond hair.

His voice was deep
and soft and accusatory. “What are you doing here?”

“What? Me?” She
pointed to her chest. “Are you kidding? What kind of a question is that?”

It was a showdown
where neither party was willing to take a step away. Oh god, the potion…

They both turned to
stare at the vial glowing cerulean in the darkness. Without hesitation, Georgia
lunged forward with her arms outstretched. Her frustration exploded in an
outward display. This man was after her potion. There were plenty of shadows in
the hull, just out of the reach of the moonlight, enough to take her out of
sight. She twisted at the last minute, catching the hulking man’s movement in
the periphery of her vision, then fell into the darkness and lost her form.

“It doesn’t matter
where you try to run. You won’t hide from me, and you won’t leave with the
vial,” he growled, whirling around in a circle trying to see where she’d gone.

“Where do you get
off—” she demanded, lunging out with her leg and snapping him in the chest.

It was instinct. It
was a gut reaction. It was not enough to take him down. He needed to suffer.

A growl tore from her
throat when the stranger reached out and grabbed her ankle, hauling her
forward, screeching, into the moonlight.

The last thing she
saw was the potion tucked into his belt buckle. Then it was lights out.
