Shadows Come
As many of you know, I have written an urban fantasy/dark paranormal story called Shadows Come which is included in a box set called Shadows and Sorcery. Along with 23 other amazing authors, we are all combining our forces to make a run at the USA Today Bestseller list.
I know, crazy! At least, it’s crazy to me.
I wanted to do something a little different with this story, go darker than I have before. It was a bit of a stretch for me, but the characters came to life in such a beautiful way. I wanted paranormal, of course, but in a strange twist, my main hero is…human. I don’t hold that against him at all.
Oriel Justice and his sister Jasmine run The Dark Caf coffee shop that caters to paranormal creatures. He has a strong will, a good heart, and intentions in all the right places, even if he is too stubborn for his own good.
Enter Georgia, a once big Hollywood star before an accident took her fame. Along with her life.
Oh, yes, I’m not holding back on this one.
I wanted to include a love story, because I believe everyone, even characters in a book, deserve a happy ending. There also had to be danger. Intrigue. Magic. Who doesn’t love a little magic.
This book is close to my heart. Going through a breakup at the time, I wrote Oriel to be the kind of man I would want. Someone who takes care of his family, does the right thing, and has a big heart. Georgia tests him every step of the way. In the end, they both have a choice to make. To step up to the plate and do the right thing or cut and run.
I’ve also been toying with the idea of a follow through novel following Jasmine Justice. She deserves to find true love as well, don’t you think? Well, I’ll let you decide for yourself. You might just fall in love with her the way I did!
