It’s Release Day!

So, this year was my first attempt at writing for the holiday market. I’ve never done a Christmas piece before, and honestly, I haven’t been the best with the holidays. Between deaths in the family and living with the real-life inspiration for the Grinch, I’ve been down for many, many years.

I decided it was time for a change.

On the list: hot chocolate. Got it. Cheesy Christmas movies on Netflix. Check! Christmas lights? Man, I must be going overboard, but my media console is decked out. Lastly…write my own holiday romance.

I think Shifter By Christmas accomplishes the goal nicely!

Lakota is a lynx shifter living his life in the frozen north and dreaming of…becoming a surfer, of all things. Farris is a journalist and photographer doing her darndest to save a failing magazine she helped create. Fate brings them together on a photo shoot. Then traps them together when the skies open up and the snow piles high. Will they make it out in time for Christmas?

These two had a hard time getting their happily ever after. Farris was more stubborn than I gave her credit for being, and with a few other physical issues coming between them, it warmed my heart to see how their story progressed!

Here’s the blurb:

He’s hot and ripped in all the right ways. Yet underneath his buff exterior, he harbors one very large secret. She is determined to discover it, even though her life is complicated enough without adding a man into the mix.

Despite the massive snowstorm keeping her stranded and unable to leave, nature photographer Farris Waters does not intend to spend Christmas in the arms of handsome Lakota Linden. She doesn’t need any more distractions. Still, there’s something about Lakota she can’t get out of her mind.

Unaware of his hidden ability, Farris had spent a week snapping photos of him—in animal form—for the holiday edition of her nature magazine. So when lynx shifter Lakota changes right before her eyes, she’s thrown for a loop and her trip takes a sharp turn into unexplored territory.

The temperature is dropping, snow is piling up, and soon, despite her stubborn resolution, she won’t be able to resist him.

Shifter by Christmas is a paranormal romance novella with heat, laughs, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

It’s HERE! LAST CHRISTMAS ANGEL

Oh, man, it’s release day! This is my first attempt at a Christmas novella, and I couldn’t be happier with how Easton and Quinn came together to fall in love. This is set in my small town of Heartwood, Virginia, a tiny mountain town with a single stoplight in the entire county.

Easton comes from the big city and is looking for a little rest and respite from his busy life. Quinn is an artist who has been burned before and doesn’t need a man to come along and save her. How can Easton convince Quinn he wants more than just her creations. He wants her. To say she’s skeptical is an understatement.

Check out Last Christmas Angel to see these two get their happily ever after!

Last Christmas Angel is now on Pre-Order!

I’m super excited to announce that Last Christmas Angel, my newest edition to the Heartwood universe and my first attempt at a Christmas novella, is now available! And for only 99c, which is pretty gosh darn great! Grab your copy HERE.

For your viewing pleasure, here is a little snippet from the piece.

CHAPTER ONE

“Penny, I need that report before I leave this afternoon.” There was a pause. Silence greeted him. “Penny!”

Easton O’Callaghan stood, shifted into his jacket, and stared at the mess on his desk. Damn if he was going to take the time to straighten it before leaving. Clearing and organizing would put him hours behind schedule.

He took a moment to loosen the tie currently cutting off his circulation.

The work would wait until after Christmas when he got back. He deserved a break, had been busting his ass to grow his business and his brand for the past two years. It felt like two years straight through—no breaks, no time off. When was the last time he’d taken a moment to breathe? A moment for himself?

He couldn’t remember.

His part-time assistant—she refused to work more than thirty hours a week and he refused to lose her—rushed through the door with a file folder in her hand, her heels sinking into the carpet. She’d decorated herself in an array of Christmas regalia, from a headpiece made of fake holly to the little jingle bells on the backs of her shoes.

At least he knew where she was in the office. At all times.

“Here you go!” she told Easton cheerfully, dropping the folder into the chaos on his desk. It disappeared immediately, blending in with its bedfellows, and he scrambled to grab it before he lost sight. “Do you need me for anything else, sir?”

He hated when she called him sir. Penny was his grandmother’s age and it felt wrong.

“No, of course not. You get out of here and go home to your family. Are you still driving up to Massachusetts?” he asked, and sent her an easy smile.

Penny returned the gesture and the wrinkles around her eyes put him in mind of Mrs. Claus. Cheerful. Plump. Good-natured. “My daughter just had her second baby and I haven’t seen the little tyke yet. I’m so excited! How about you? Did you make Christmas plans, sir?”

For the last several years since starting his business, Easton had spent the holidays alone in his apartment. The experience had evolved over the years, at least. The first time involved a microwaved meal and the radio tuned in to a Christmas station. Alone. Staring out his window at the bleak sliver of sky he saw beyond the brick wall of the neighboring building.

This last time was a hair better. His apartment had doubled in size with a move into Chelsea, and instead of the microwaved meal, he’d splurged for a bottle of champagne. The good stuff, not the kind he snuck behind the bleachers to guzzle with his best high school friends.

He finished gathering up his belongings and shoved the papers, with the added folder from Penny, into his briefcase. Material for later if he felt the itch to work. Or needed help falling asleep.

“This year I’m doing things a little differently,” he told Penny. “I thought I’d take a trip to somewhere I’ve never been before. Have you ever heard of Heartwood, Virginia?”

Penny stared at him for a moment, her lips pursed and her nostrils flaring while she accessed her mental Rolodex. “I can’t say I have. Why? Why are you headed there?”

A city boy born and bred, Easton hadn’t experienced grass outside of Central Park. Starting his own business—and having it be successful—was the biggest adventure of his life. He didn’t want to be the guy who spent his holidays alone at home. And he definitely didn’t want to be the guy who confined his world to a single box. Namely, the 305 square miles comprising New York City.

He wanted to do something adventurous. He wanted to do something out of the box. Or blow the box wide open—whatever came first.

“One of my friends said he went there with his wife. Stayed at some kind of awesome bed and breakfast backed right up to the mountains. It cleared his head.” The friend, in fact, was a magazine feature writer who traveled to different small towns around the country, staying at and writing about quaint little inns. Easton had stumbled upon the article by accident and was taken with the photos and charming description of Heartwood. So maybe friend was a stretch, but he didn’t want Penny to know just how lonely his world had become.

“You’re saying your head needs clearing? I thought people like you had shrinks for those kinds of things,” she said, crossing her arms. Her shoes jingled when she shifted.

He swallowed a chuckle. “Maybe I want to see snow that’s actually white, for once.”

Help us reach the Top 100 for these spooky true stories!

I am so pleased to announce I’m part of a spooky free anthology of real life paranormal stories.

The old saying is true: real life is stranger (and scarier!) than fiction.

If you haven’t checked out Coffee Talk on the Boardwalk, ...

If you haven’t checked out Coffee Talk on the Boardwalk, then what are you waiting for? It’s an amazing group put together by myself and five other small-town romance authors started, where you, the reader, are in charge of designing our newest shared world. The stories will come out next year, a mix of sweet and spicy romance all set in the fictional town of Cinnamon Bay, North Carolina.

And I’ve started writing mine ahead of time!

Jewel of the Bay will be my contribution to the Cinnamon Bay universe.

Fate pushes them together. Will bad luck keep them apart?

Certified Camp Director Mecca Raleigh was on her way to a job interview in Jacksonville when she got detoured in Cinnamon Bay, North Carolina. Fate throws the perfect position in her lap and she decides to make the sleepy coastal town her home. It’s an offer she can’t refuse.

Since then, everything that can go wrong, does.

From the start, she butts heads with the park manager, the handsome and stubborn Carter Lewis. She deals with injuries, overly concerned parents, equipment failure, and food poisoning.

Carter is there to lend his reluctant support, although nothing involving Mecca is easy. Still, in getting to know her, he sees a woman worth helping. A woman worth loving. Until the ex-wife he thought he’d never see again returns to the picture. The ex-wife who is confined to a wheelchair due to his mistake.

Now Carter and Mecca have a choice to make. Stick together through the rough waters, or call it quits.

Please head over to our Facebook Group and add your voice! It’s readers like you who help authors like me and my group mates create our characters and worlds.

Support Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In 2013 and 2014, the first Shades of Pink events raised over $10,000 for research!

For our third event, 33 authors have allied for 1 cause: fundraising for research. Their gift to everyone who makes a donation? A romance anthology (ebook) titled Shades of Pink (volume 3), totaling over 270,000 words.

The suggested donation is $5. Funds are raised via Stayclassy.org and all proceeds go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Readers can also donate to the charity organization of their choice (with a focus on breast cancer) and email their receipt to receive their copy of the anthology in either PDF, ePub or mobi (kindle).

The 31 brand new, never published before short stories vary from sweet (no sex) to explicit or kinky, with shifters, vampires, mermaids, or plain ‘vanilla’ humans, set in the past, the present or the future.

A Whole New Group!

Hello world! I have helped start a new reader group with five other authors. This group is going to be different than any you’ve ever been in. (I promise).

A big giveaway will be starting next week in the group!

There will be games, ways to earn prizes instead of being randomly picked, we will be asking for more help in deciding titles, story lines, character and business names, and much more.

Also, we will be starting a shared series, where each author will write a book but all of our characters will appear in each other’s stories. (More info to come on this)

Come join the fun in our new group-Coffee Talk & Romance.
