Childhood’s Blessings

What if we looked through the lens of life and only saw opportunity? I had this thought this morning as I took time to record my thoughts and feelings. As a child, my life was full of my mother’s love, my father’s protection, and God’s divine province.

Speaking to God

My mind rarely turned off. So I wrote poems and songs into my heart to share with God each day. On the way from school, I ran, jumped, skipped, hopped, sang and smiled at my own way of living with God and absorbing His word.

Childhood  Innocence

I remember various adults saying, be quiet, stop turning, talking or flipping. Cartwheels, back ends and flips were always in my life. On the sidewalk, in the hallways, or in isles. Being still and quite is not a child’s function.

But as I think on it, most of those admonishments were not from my parents, but well-meaning adults. More than likely, I repeated some of those words to the various children in my life. Now I understand the damage and affect they can have on young hearts and precious minds.

God Always Delivers Love

My mind, body, and heart bounced with joy because that was what God placed in my heart. I drew close to God, I craved knowledge, read fervently and wrote daily because doing so allowed me freedom. I didn’t realize it then, but I know that my love of God, joy and learning is was good, normal, and should be honored, encouraged, and rewarded.

Children Are Made of Joy

That pure memory of my childhood is a reminder of the joy that children bring back into our lives. It’s okay that my mind does not turn off. In fact, that is a good thing. I may at times talk a lot, and now my heart understands that I love life, people, giving, sharing, and above all else, I love God.

Releasing the Hurt

I still feel hurt for the little girl the adults hollered at, but I can also release her pain and sadness. I can forgive the adults who shamelessly hollered at me, I was not their child, and it was not their place. By seeing the truth, I can return that piece of my broken spirit into a beautiful part of my life. Thank you.

Stillness and Growth

Download

The Magnificent Grace of God

Each day through the grace of God, I learn something new. Whether the day has been smooth and easy or challenging and complicated. Sometimes my eyes are wide open and ready for the lesson, and other times my mind is occupied, and I don’t see the lesson sent my way.

Spiritual Maturity

As I have spiritually matured, my mind and life have slowed down. My breath is quiet and easier to recognize when it gets out of synch. The blessing of slowing down is new to me, and I am only learning of the gift that a slower pace could be.

Appreciating God’s Beauty

It seems to me that by pacing actions and life, we miss less of God’s splendid beauty. That’s just one of the beautiful differences now clearer to me. I have the same 24 hours in a day, though now each hour, minute, and second, mean more.

Taking Time to Breathe

I have more patience with myself and others. I enjoy the little things, more too. It took me fighting for breath to see the beauty of hidden moments. My hope is by sharing my observations; you will benefit from my lesson and slow down too.

Trusting God’s Plan

For the past few weeks, I have been feeling off-balance and like I was walking in a haze. Thankfully I was never lost, just more contemplative and still. Truthfully mentally and physically still. You probably heard people speak of “going through the motions” yes, that was me.

Moving Through Life

I was caught between being myself, going in and out of moments of system shock and disbelief, and trying to balance the unsteadiness in my feet. Even though I felt those feelings, I also felt that I was going to be okay.

Living in Faith

Because of God’s love, I did not feel fear. I did not feel like I was loosing my mind or going through a mental crisis. Looking back over those few weeks, I felt like my soul was wounded and in need of healing. Now I know what that looks like. Next time I pray, I will discern the stillness for what it is, growth.

Living Drama Free

Keep Your Mind Clear of Negativity

There are many obstacles in life and many ways that you can become distracted, uncomfortable, or poorly treated. Cleaning your mind is just as important as cleaning your home. In fact, maintaining a healthier brain is what allows you clarity and the ability to sustain a healthy life. Therefore a healthy mindset must be your priority.

Do Not Unknowingly Become a Co-Conspirator

Now more than ever before, we are in a battle for peace.  One of the most challenging things about war is you don’t always see or recognize your real enemy. Sometimes you are unknowingly drawn into a battle and become a silent party to a “cold-war” fight.

Claim Your Peace

Therefore it is not enough to want to live a nonviolent life. You must claim your right to peace. Peace stealers are cunning, divisive, and often unexpected. They may unknowingly look for ways to make you uncomfortable. They may purposefully start a negative interaction hoping to draw you into the conflicts in their mind.

Defuse the Situation

Do not fall for the trap. Be aware, and keep your eyes and ears open. Pay attention to your intuition. If someone tries to engage you negatively, smile and say. “I never thought about that.” Or “you have an interesting view. “ Then work quickly to defuse the situation.

Move Away from Drama

Sometimes silence is the best response. I get silent, contemplate what my time and energy could be doing. Then I choose positivity and make my way out of the maze of negativity, drama, or other people’s difficulty that I am not interested in pursuing.

Withdraw from Crazy Situations

I change the subject or explain I have something that I must attend to. Sometimes I just need to pray, withdraw my mind from bad, crazy or unnecessary interactions, and refocus my energy to not become a part of their problem and negativity.

Offer helpful Solutions

Previously I felt responsible and attempted to fix everything and everyone. I now understand that my happiness and purpose are not tied to grieving for others. Being present in other people’s drama is tiring, unhealthy, and mind-boggling. I know that I cannot help everyone, and I have observed that some people enjoy drama, chaos, and confusion. I offer them the best impartial advice I know and allow them to become the hero or villain in their own life.

Promote A Good Life

Because truthfully, some people don’t want help or a solution. They want a reason to complain and keep the problem going as if the conflict could bring goodness or oxygen into the body. Because of the negative effect on our bodies, we must be mindful and understand that peace of mind, body, and soul is what nourishes life.

God’s Love Never Fails

Greetings and Joy!

Each day I rise with the thought and the expectation of a beautiful day. I don’t look for any trouble from yesterday or any problems or issues that I’ve previously faced.

Life is Okay

Some days are challenging. The sky is a little grayer, our health or energy isn’t where we need it to be, or something seems not to be going our way. We must smile anyway because of our faith. As long as we stand with God, life is okay. And God never leaves His throne.

God Never Fails

God never fails.  That fact helps me smile even on the most trying days. I find myself looking at obstacles, circumstances and releasing them to God. In your hour of need you can reach out. In your moments of stress, you can lean on him. If you are tired any day, you can count on God for power and assurance assurance . If you trust God, he will always show you the way.

God Sends Goodness Each Day

No matter what you find yourself going through, always trust that God retains ongoing goodness for you. Know that each day overruns with God’s overflowing joy for you. Even if so much is going on that you don’t think you can hear God’s Spirit, continue to pray and trust that God is sending you encouragement, support, and the love that you need.

Enjoy Your Journey

Personally, I no longer allow my heart to be triggered by things that can be expected in life. Occasionally, I stop and contemplate my choices. As long as I keep my mind focused on the Almighty God, I smile and trust that I am safe. If you stumble or fall, it is not surprising to God. Keep getting back up and trusting in your journey. With God, we all have a divine purpose and inspiring journey. Enjoy your life in the protective love of God.

Think of the goodness of God, and smile because we are always covered and protected by God’s life-sustaining grace. I believe that goodness is present every day, miracles still happen, and that God always makes away.

Learning to Dream Again

Never Stop Learning

A few days ago, I had an epiphany while listening to Siri read a kindle ebook, The Secret Collaborative Economy. This amazing book outlined paths and possibilities for growth and legacy building. For the first time since my vision-impairment, I understand how much I had been limiting my life. I indeed have challenges, health issues, and other factors that make me feel boxed in and stuck. But this book opened my mind to the possibility of achieving more with what I have.

Make Notes and Dream Big

I made notes, paused Siri, highlighted, and bookmarked sections that need my action and more development in my mind. I listened to the book twice. Some areas, like chapter four, were so comprehensive, fascinating, and extraordinary, that I stopped reading. Let the information sync in and envisioned new options for myself and my family.

Prepare for the Life You Want

I picked The Secret Collaborative Economy book up the following evening when I knew my mind was free to absorb the business, marketing, and management education that I almost missed by not reading this book sooner. I don’t believe my virtually crossing paths with Mrs. Marsha Wright was a coincidence. I had been dreaming of twitter for three years. When my son set the account up, I was beyond excited.

It was a struggle getting started, but soon I met many people like myself, impaired, but still trying. Twitter is everything I dreamed of and more. I have met all types of people from all over the world. The hashtags are fascinating, and they allow you to choose your news and information. There are movements of incredible people who help you reach the world with your messages and your dreams.

Find Your Place and Your People

It truly is a big world, and thanks to the hashtag #ThinkBigSundayWithMarsha, I have learned where my people are. They are learning, sharing, growing, loving, and lifting each other. If you get the chance to venture on Twitter, check out Marsha Wright, follow her page and her movement. You will enjoy the positivity, and I am sure you could use a bigger dream too.

Guard Your Spiritual Health

Beautiful blooming Dahlia in a color cross between fuchsia and rich pink tones with a bumblebee sitting in the middle

Do Not Help the Enemy

I heard part of a video a few days ago, and it hurt my heart. I sat down with it on my spirit, and tears flowed from my soul. Then to help myself deal with the emotional drain, I wrote the poem, “I’m sending you my love.” A few days later, someone else forwarded the identical negative video to me.

Choose Content Wisely

The disgusting video started playing before I could stop it. The man was expounding how much he hated a group of people and all the bad he wished upon them simply because they were not like him. I felt firsthand why we must be careful with the images, video, and audio we forward and share.

Sharing Hate Does Not Make Anyone Safe

Tears welled up in my eyes, My mouth twisted, and the hurt consumed me. The people who sent the negative video were trying to educate me and, in their way, keep me safe. I chose not to forward the video as I have no desire to perpetuate hate or aid in divisiveness. My issue with the video was how it amplified the hurt, pain, and hatred in the world.

Guard Your Spiritual Wellbeing

For a few days, a negative fog hung around me, weighed my heart down, and I felt it blocked some of the goodness in my heart, mind, and spirit. I had to triple my daily effort to live positively. God slowed me down and allowed me to see the bigger picture of how I internalized a stranger’s hate and anger.  I unknowingly generated hurt and allowed the harmful spirit access to my mind. In essence, I let my spirit pick up some of that person’s negative energy.

Even Moments of Sadness Teach Important Lessons

Wow, what a wake-up moment. I knew I was feeling sadness but didn’t realize I had started caring so much of his hatred, anger, and pain as my burden. Someone else’s choices, behavior, and thoughts are not our responsibility. I think it is sometimes a way for the enemy of our spirit to distract us and weaken our faith and courage.

Guard your heart and know that God never sends negativity to us. You can be assured that if we need to be educated or alerted, God will provide a better way to keep His children safe. I will write about occurrences, but I will not forward hate. Please stay safe and walk in peace.

Do Not Be Too Quick to Judge

Do Not Be So Quick to Judge

In my youth, I heard those familiar words, and they stuck with me. Being the cautious and curious person that I am, seeking knowledge is second only to breathing. Therefore I enjoy sifting through layers and details to ascertain facts.

Thankful for Technology

Often, I select interesting Newspaper headlines and Siri reads them to me. I am aware of Then I select additional sources for more details. Today I listened to a beatned police officer who made the conscious choice to protect and serve. He is more than the blue uniform. He is also a husband, father, son, uncle, and, I believe, a caring man.

Ever day People Trying to Be a Hero

As I listened, I was reminded how people view, judge, and treat strangers based on perceived notions or false beliefs. I reflect on the kind people, policemen, and policewomen I met under challenging moments of my life: such as after a car accident, or passing them in neighborhoods, looking for a lost kid, or trying to recover stolen items. And once after an attempted break-in.

Anyone Can Have a Tough Day

My thought is that anyone can have a good or bad day including civilians. Whether in uniform or not, and anyone can be put in challenging positions. We cannot afford to think everyone is the same as we are all unique individuals.

Give People A Chance

One day you may not like their decision, and on a different day, they can save your life. Please do not be quick to judge anyone as all good or all bad. Many times people are responding to situations the best way they can. Shock can come into play, and some people truly are not nice people. But, we must give people the chance to show us who they are and be careful not to discount anyone’s life on a “feeling.”

I Am Tired

“I have cried, called into the wind, and prayed fervently as I mourn and grieve for the mothers of taken, missing, or murdered children. Whether the children are babies, teens, grown men, or women, each one is somebody’s child, and they deserved to be healthy, happy, free, and alive.

You Can’t Hide from God

Even now, with everything that has come to light, I believe that we still have half a nation that won’t understand my heart or willingly empathize with my emotions simply because of the skin I live in. I will not apologize for the beautiful life God gave me. As a black African-American woman, mother, sister, auntie and friend, I embrace you with love no matter the skin you are in.

Tired of Hurt, Hate, and Pain

I am tired, so tired for every child used, abused, killed, or vilified because of the color of their skin. I am tired for every nation’s mothers, black, white, red, brown, yellow, and even those that have not yet been regulated by skin color. I am tired of seeing the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, sons, and daughters crying because of a loved ones untimely death.

We Must Value Life

I am shaken and transformed by haunting memories of innumerable sets of faces and their empty sadden eyes. in their eyes because they mourn for those penalized and lost due to brown, black,  Asian, Native American, indigenous people, aboriginal people, and everyone else whose society has given collective identities and who are mistreated, deceived and betrayed by prejudices.

Nations are Suffering

People, cities, and countries are crying because people are not seeing the worth of other people’s children’s lives. I am tired of those refusing to see the love in children’s eyes. I am tired of people professing to be Christian, Catholic, Jew, and every other religion while they are using their crooked minds, shattered mentalities, and other abnormal, unhealthy, and deviant intentions. Let me just tell you; this mother is tired of losing taken and stolen lives.” ~CMW
