PROJECT RUNWAY.....My TOP 5 OMG MOMENTS of "Project Runway" Season 15 Episode 2: The JustFab Challenge RECAP!

Nick Verreos YouTube "Project Runway Season 15 Top 5 OMG Moments"--Episode 2

Hope you have been enjoying my YouTube videos quickly recap'ing this season's "Project Runway" and my "TOP 5 OMG MOMENTS", as well as my MyLifetime.com "Project Runway" Blog Recaps.

It's the 2nd episode of the season and time to discuss what I thought were the standout moments of the "JustFab" Everyday Woman Challenge: Designing a look for the Everyday Woman of every size, age, shape...

#1 OMG MOMENT: An Everyday Woman Isn't 6' tall and a Size 2--That's just my "No. 1 OMG" moment...

Click below to watch ALL my TOP 5 OMG MOMENTS of "Project Runway" Season 15 Episode 2 on YouTube:

Here's my RECAP of MyLifetime.com "Project Runway" Blog:

Episode 2 Recap: Everyday Fab

Last week on “Project Runway” the season began with an unconventional runway, with the contestants creating looks out of party materials, challenging the designers to be super creative on day one. This week it was all about designing for the “everyday woman.” How some of the designers approached this challenge traversed the gamut from uninspired to super-drop crotch un-realness. Time to discuss this week’s visions for a supposed “everyday fab” girl.

As the episode begins, Heidi saunters onto the runway to congratulate the designers on surviving the first challenge and adds that they all look like they could use “fresh air.” She tells them that Tim Gunn—and a special guest—will be waiting for them at a park, concluding by telling them that today will be “FAB-U-LOUS!” Hmm, let me guess, this is the JustFab Challenge…

Moments later, Tim is in the park introducing Chief Marketing Officer of JusfFab, Traci Inglis (yep, I was right!). He tells the contestants that there are over four million women in Manhattan who are getting dressed every morning, with Inglis adding that JustFab’s goal is “to make women of every age, every height, every size, look and feel fabulous.” On cue, 100 women—of all ages and sizes—walk into the park highlighting the tableaux for the next challenge: to create a look for the everyday woman, making them the most fabulous version of herself. Tim warns the designers to remember that versatility and diversity among their clientele does not mean “hum-drum.” They are creating FASHION. The winning look, Inglis says, will be reproduced and sold on JustFab.com (no word of the designer making any profit from this). I must say that the strangest thing about this presentation and challenge, is the fact that these hundreds of women presented to the designers are just for show. I first assumed that the designers would pick from the women and design an outfit based on their body silhouette. But instead, the designers will just be presenting their looks on the “everyday” 6 foot tall, size 2 runway models...

WHAT: Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2017 runway show. "Tropico Italiano" was the theme. A mix of all the references Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are famous--or infamous--for: Virgins, Italian motifs, pasta, flowers and lots of embellished sequin detail.

I begin the video with examples--from my own NIKOLAKI design line--of advanced draping looks, and then I go through the process of draping a specific design detail that I would consider "Advanced Draping"...

PROJECT RUNWAY.....Project Runway Season 15 New York Fashion Week Finale Fashion Show: Recap Pics!

Pageant Queens, Project Runway Queens and a Selfie Stick Queens: Nick Verreos attending "Project Runway" Season 15 NY Fashion Week Finale Show--Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

Last Friday, September 9th was the Finale Show for Season 15 "Project Runway" during the Spring/Summer 2017 NY Fashion Week shows. I happened to be in NYC for the Official Book Signing Event of my new book "A Passion For Fashion: Achieving Your Fashion Dreams One Thread at a Time" which also happened to be on that same day--but luckily later that evening! Upon arriving, I made my way into the show, which was going to start in like ten minutes. I had just enough time to find my seat... However, on my way I spotted two gorgeous beauties that made me stop immediately:

Pageant Sandwich: Nick Verreos with Deshauna Barber "Miss USA 2016" (R) and Pia Wurtzbach "Miss Universe 2015"--Season 15 "Project Runway" Finale Show at NY Fashion Week, Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

As a big pageant fan (you know how much I love commentating on the National Costumes and Evening Gowns here on my blog!), I became that person and rushed up to "Miss USA 2016" Deshauna Barber and "Miss Universe 2015" Pia Wurtzbach --who happened to be in the front row of course--and told them that I adored them and asked if I could get a photo.

I finally made it to my seat and was happily surprised to find myself seated in between "Project Runway" Season 14 Winner Ashley Nell Tipton and the Runner-up Kelly Dempsey...

On the same row we were seated was the wonderful...

Patricia Michaels, Season 11 designer--Season 15 "Project Runway" Finale Show at NY Fashion Week, Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

After the show, I had the chance to say "hello" and hang out with other "Project Runway" Alumni...

(L to R): Season 8 "Project Runway" designer Carlos Casanova, hair stylist ( and partner to "Project Runway" Season One winner Jay McCarroll) Matt Mellott, "Project Runway" Season 3 Finalist Uli Herzner, Nick Verreos, "Project Runway" Season 8 designer Nicholas D'Aurizio, and "Project Runway" Season One Winner Jay McCarroll--Season 15 "Project Runway" Finale Show at NY Fashion Week, Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

Matt, Nick & Jay: Nick Verreos with "Project Runway" Season One Winner Jay McCarroll and his partner, hair stylist Matt Mellott--Season 15 "Project Runway" Finale Show at NY Fashion Week, Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

Loved seeing Pamela Evans Cho (L) and Karen Reichter (R) of Facebook's "Topic: Project Runway" fan site--Karen brought her copy of my new book "A Passion For Fashion" so she "had me at hello!"--Season 15 "Project Runway" Finale Show at NY Fashion Week, Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

YahooTV took this pic of Pamela Cho of Facebook "Topic: Project Runway" and I sharing a "selfie stick" photo--Season 15 "Project Runway" Finale Show at NY Fashion Week, Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

Finally, I got to take a group photo with some of this new season's designers...

Nick Verreos with "Project Runway" Season 15 contestants/designers (L to R) Linda Marcus, Alex Snyder, Ian Hargrove, Kimber Richardson, Brik Allen and Tasha Henderson--Season 15 "Project Runway" Finale Show at NY Fashion Week, Skylight at Moynihan Station NYC

WHO WORE WHAT.....My Top 10 Best Dressed at the 2016 Emmy Awards Red Carpet

Kerry Washington in Brandon Maxwell Spring 2017--When the very pregnant Kerry Washington stepped onto the Emmys red carpet, she SHUT IT DOWN! Washington wore this black crepe custom-made gown by designer Brandon Maxwell (one of Lady Gaga's faves). The design featured tuxedo lapel-like detail at the top, side cut-out's and a Watteau-like back. daring, elegant, sexy, and yes, did I mention she's VERY pregnant!? PS: Ladies you can still rock a sexy evening gown look...with a baby bump!

Sarah Paulson in Custom Prada--"People Vs. O.J. Simpson" Actress Sarah Paulson definitely is at the top of my 2016 Emmys Best Dressed List in this sequined emerald green colored gown. the gown is a Custom Prada and like I have said before, Prada doesn't really do gowns...unless you are an A-list celebrity. This design had a plunging neckline, 3/4 length sleeves and fit her to perfection. The hand-sewn sequined fabrication is INCREDIBLE! Did I already say she's one of my Best Dressed of the night? I think I just did, again. I also LOVED her sleek hair and smoldering makeup.

Claire Danes in Schiaparelli Couture Fall 2016--I thought "Homeland" actress Claire Danes' golden gown was one of the Best of the 2016 Emmy Awards red carpet. The dress was from Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall 2016 collection and its designer Bertrand Guyon who just recently was appointed to the famed fashion house. I loved the sequined Lamé-like fabrication, the intricate gathering and draping at the midriff and pointed front. If there was one critique I would have, it does not involve the gown, but more Claire's overly faux tanned skin. Advice for next time: Lay off the self tanner Claire.

Emily Ratajkowski in Zac Posen Resort 2017: "Gone Girl" and "Entourage: The Movie" actress and former model Emily Ratajkowski looked Runway Fab in this blue Zac Posen organza mermaid-shaped gown. The gown is from Zac Posen Resort 2017 collection and features all the intricate folding and seam-work the "Project Runway" judge and designer is known for. One of the Best of the night!

Priyanka Chopra in Custom Jason Wu--Former "Miss World" and "Quantico" actress Priyanka Chopra was every vision of a STAR in this red one shoulder custom gown from Jason Wu. The custom gown featured intricate gathering and a silhouette that reminded me of Madame Gres gowns I have seen at a Met NYC fashion exhibitions or Les Arts Decoratifs Museum in Paris. Everything about the entire look was perfection--from the slicked hair, the bright red lipstick...to the fit of the gown.

Tracee Ellis Ross in Custom Ralph Lauren--I thought "Black-ish" actress Tracee Ellis Ross looked every bit a "Grecian Goddess" in this custom Ralph Lauren gown. The one shoulder chiffon dress featured a peek-a-boo side and dramatic train. She looked flawless and therefore, earns her proper place in my Top Ten Best Dressed at the Emmys.

Yara Shahidi in Clara Rotescu--I have to include another actress from "Black-ish" in my Best Dressed of 2016 Emmy Awards and this time it is 16 year-old Yara Shahidi. Yara wore a gold and white dress from Romanian designer Clara Rotescu, The design was very lady-like, elegant and 50's Grace Kelly-esque. Beautiful. Perfect for a young, upcoming fashionista!

Emilia Clarke in Atelier Versace--"Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke was also one of my favorites of the 2016 Emmys red carpet. She wore a blush-colored strapless gown from Atelier Versace. The dress was fitted to perfection (as is common for Atelier Versace and anything that is couture and made-to-order) and featured a draped bust detail. Emilia looked modern and sublimely pretty.

Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta--"Downton Abbey" actress Michelle Dockery wore this white tiered strapless gown with black hem binding from Oscar de la Renta. I put her in my Best Dressed for the simplicity of the hi-lo style gown as well as delicacy of the flounces. Her shoes and hair were perfect. She looked like a Spanish Marquesa.

Last but not least...

Debbie Matenopoulos in NIKOLAKI Nick Verreos/David Paul--I know this might be a bit gratuitous (since it is one of my designs!) but heck, it's my blog so...I I had to add the gorgeous co-host of "The Insider" and "Hallmark's Home and Family" TV shows, Debbie Matenopoulos, in my Top Ten Best Dressed of the Emmys red carpet. The strapless silk/linen/Lurex gown features a draped bust section and mermaid-like shape ending in a circular train. I think she looked AMAZING, but then again, I co-designed this :)

Best Dressed Couple: Louis Aguirre and Debbie Matenopoulos (in NIKOLAKI), hosts of "The Insider" Entertainment TV Show.
