Free Days

10 Ways to enjoy some you time Fun in the sun……and pickpockets | ProtectMyID Who knows what a 'Free Day' is? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like. It's a free day for you to do whatever you want. What am I talking about? How can a busy career mom have time for herself? Well, just bear with me here. Just because you are a busy and successful woman doesn't mean you can't have time to take care of you. Let's face it every women needs a 'free day'.
I recommend that you have at least one day a month for yourself. Unwind, because a happy you makes a happy family. Here are a few tips to a 'free day' out.
1. Call up the girls! Nothing says 'me time' like hanging out with your girls.2. Shopping lets off steam and relieves stress for some. If you are in that group, get your shopping on.3. Can you say...spa day? Yes, go pamper yourself at a spa girl, you've earned it!4. Take a hike or a canoe ride. Enjoy Mother Nature to relieve some of that built up tension.5. Go watch a movie. Enjoy a movie that you've been wanting to see. Maybe one without animated characters, unless that is what you like.6. Take a dip. Go swimming. Enjoy the sunshine without worrying about your kids. It can be relaxing and therapeutic.7. Be a nerd. Read a book. Reading is one of my favorite things to do for me time. Go somewhere quiet and enjoy your favorite Author. If you need suggestions go to Goodreads.com. (The Faewitch by MJ Boshers is always a good choice. LOL.)8. Take a bike ride. I'm not talking about mountain biking, unless you want to sweat and work hard on your free day. I'm talking about a leisurely bike ride to the farmer's market, to the beach, or even just around the block.9. Rent a hotel room. If you have the luxury, rent a nice hotel room and enjoy the amenities. You can have a massage, use the pool, sauna, room service, or even call the girls up for some cocktails. You can even step it up a notch and spend the night. Get that good night sleep you have longed for.10. Expand your free day even further and take a weekend trip with the girls. Go somewhere and live it up for the weekend. You can do everything on the list. Get reacquainted  with your besties.  I hope you have enjoyed these tips and use them. Take some pictures on your next free day and let me know how it went. Did it help you relieve stress? Has it helped with your daily life taking off once a month?
Got any ideas? Let me know what you do to unwind.
Until next time...this mommy's out!

Easy Bed Hair fix

NEW AVEDA SMOOTH INFUSION NOURISHING STYLING CREME CREAM ANTI FRIZZ 8.5 FL OZ Okay, ladies. I just found the best hair care product ever!

If you are a busy mom and just don't have the time to fuss with your hair in the morning, this is the product for you. Just apply it to wet hair, brush through, and go to bed. You will be shocked in the morning when your hair is still in place...it's truly amazing. Just fluff a little and maybe spray lightly with hairspray and you are ready to go. My hair is always frizzy and unmanageable in the mornings so I have to either put it in a ponytail or use the curling iron. Imagine how much styling damage this could prevent and it leaves your hair soft all day long. Go straight to your local Aveda styling salon or order online. I'm not even joking, guys. This stuff works. Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think!

Until next time. This mommy is out!

Learn to Let Go

Who has a problem letting go?

I wonder how many of you have a problem letting some things go. If you constantly worry about things that you haven't been able to do it will be your downfall.

I have had trouble with this myself. I sometimes have to clean my house a dozen times when I get home from work. Why? Let's just say a three-year-old tornado has run through. It used to seem as I could never keep it clean. I was frustrated and didn't know what to do. I decided if I wanted to get other things done, I needed to stop worrying about the little things. I know some of you are thinking that a clean house is no little thing. Well...it really is and if anything you can wait until the little one is asleep before you clean the final mess. It takes precious time away to go through and clean up when you know it will be back to the way it was before in less than two seconds.

So in short...let it go. Breathe and walk away. Use that time for getting things done. This is just an example. I'm sure some of you have bigger things to let go. If there is something keeping you from focusing on your career, find a way to work it out. Schedule it in at a certain time that day and get it done so you can focus on you. This may sound selfish, but if you are just starting a career you have to focus on you. I'm not saying forget about your family or friends...now that would be selfish. I'm just saying focus on your schedule so you don't have to feel selfish. You can have time for both if you can let go of the things that matter the least. Prioritizing is the key to letting go. Make a list. (Example) Family, Work, cooking, cleaning
Make sure the most important get taken care of first and if you can't get to the rest...let it go. Catch up another day.

Success can only be reached by those who truly want it. So let go of the little things so you can make room for much bigger things.

The Summer Chic look

Have you ever wondered how some moms always look like they just had a make-over? Are there some days when you are just lucky to get the tangles out of your hair? First, let me tell you that I am no expert in fashion or a cosmetologist, but I know some quick and easy ways to get a fantastic, chic look. So here are a few tips that will help you look your best at any softball game, birthday party, or even a night out in just a few minutes.  This summer you'll have every other mom wondering how the heck you had time to pull it off.

If you have long, to mid-length hair go for an up-twist or a side-braid. You can even go for a sporty-bun. These are all good quick styles that still say sexy/classy.

For outfits go for something chic, but comfortable. These are a few staples that will work anywhere.
Image of Blanca Trapeze DressThis is Ann Taylor loft. Its beautiful, but not overdone. It could be wore to a ball game or a brunch. It is comfortable and classy.
Image of Halter Cami
This is one of my favorites from Ann Taylor Loft. It could also be worn anywhere, but still says chic. Add the right accessories and it would be great for a lunch date.
Image of T-Back Trapeze DressI love this black Trapeze dress from Ann Taylor Loft because it is perfect for a night on the town. It's beautiful and classy.
I love this jumpsuit by H&M. It is sporty enough for a day out, but chic enough to wear at a party or event with the right accessories.

Have a few of these handy every day and you'll be ready for any event when it pops up at the last minute or if you are just running behind.

Okay ladies...make-up.
If you want the summer-beach-look just go for a moisturizer and primer. Then add some bronzer along with some blush on the cheeks. My personal preference is not to use shadow during the day if I want that beachy-look, but if you do use a light shade of pink or peach. Eye mascara is a must for me no matter where I go. It makes the eyes pop and stand out in any crowd.

If you want to stand out at night go for darker eye shades and bronzer with a primer.
If you need addition help on make-up application go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5zR27hDx1Q

Make sure to subscribe for more updates on the latest chic summer fashions.

Managing your time-What works for you?

Managing your time...

What works for you?
The hardest thing for me about trying to balance a career and be a mom is time management. I mean, I can't even hardly pee without being interrupted. Nap-time is my savior in time managing. Everyone is going to be different, depending on schedules, but I will list the most important things to take advantage of and how to use what you can to give you more time in the hectic day of a career mom.
GapsYou need to look for gaps throughout the day. On day one go through your schedule as you normally would. Everyone has those moments of lost time. Those moments when five or ten minutes have past and you don't know where they went. These are prime times to take advantage of. You just have to notice them and apply them to your schedule. (example) I found that I had five minutes about every few hours where I was just off in another world. Once I pin-pointed that time I put it on the schedule and put it to better use. If you have time to day-dream, you have time to put towards something else.
SchedulesSchedules are very important in maintaining a successful balance between career and family. Write everything down from when you get out of bed to when you fall asleep. IF you want to schedule a nap (HA!) by all means, if you can find the time, go for it! Don't forget to schedule your weekends too. Those two days could be vital in saving precious time during the week. If your family has no plans, take advantage and clean house enough to take the load off during the week. Use this time to catch up on blog posts, marketing, social media, anything that will help throughout the week. Every detail in your schedule will matter for this to work properly. (example schedule) This is my usual day schedule...sometimes it changes if I find extra gaps, but this is a normal day.Monday- wake up at 4:00                  4-5 work out (mommy-time too)                  5-5;45 get ready for work                   6-3 work (I use extra time I have at work to catch up on social media, websites, and I keep a notebook to write things down so at the end of the day I can quickly type them up. This makes all the difference for me.)                  3-8 family time                  8-9 get things done (anything I need to catch up on with work)                  9-4 sleep-time (and if I get things done early I take advantage of sleep-time)Mommy timeIt is also very important to find you time. This is vital in helping you maintain a healthy and happy you. After all, what is the point in fulfilling your dream if you can't even enjoy it. Schedule time to pamper yourself, even if it is just a soak in the tub. Fifteen to thirty minutes a day will suffice. You can use mommy-time to go to the gym and this will take two items off your list for the day. You need to have a healthy lifestyle to continue your success. Be kind to your body and soul.
This process has worked wonders for my sanity so I hope you can put it towards your daily routine and use it to take a little of the crazy out of your life.

Feel

"Feel"

You're standing right in front of me, but are you really here
And if I left you all alone tonight would even shed a tear
You can tell me you love me every day
And say all the things I want you to say
But what's the point if it's not real
At the end of the day I just want to feel

I want to feel your love
Why can't I feel your love
I just need something
Give me something, give me anything
I just want to feel

I don't feel the fire like I think I should
And I don't feel the sting like I thought I would
My soul is begging me
To finally set you free
Cause what I need you can't fulfill
To make the world stand still
I just want to feel

I need to feel your love
Why can't I feel your love
I just need something
Give me something, give me anything
I just need to feel

Bridge:

This emptiness won't go away
And I don't think that I have the will to stay
Unless you can try
Oh can you try
To make me feel alive

Chorus twice
Oh I just want to feel

Broken

(These lyrics appear in Novel Guardian of the Queen book 3 of The Faewitch Series)

Some things the light, some things the light can't mend
Even if, you think it can
Cause the darkness always finds a way back in
Into my heart, into my soul
This I've come, I've come to know

Chorus
Because I'm broken through and through
Though I care for you
The light soon will fade
And you will walk away
And the darkness wins again
Because I'm broken

You say, you say you don't care
But you don't know the depth of despair
When the shadows start to form
When you see the coming storm
When lights start to dim
You will give in
And the darkness wins again

(Chorus)
Bridge
Even if the demons stay away
You couldn't love this damaged soul, anyway
So leave me to my sorrow and leave me to my pain
Because I know the darkness will remain

(Chorus)
The darkness always wins
Because I'm broken, I'm broken
