Choose Me, an all-new standalone coming-of-age romance

by RC Boldt.

Wearing the nicest suit I own, I stand in the very back with a flask full of whiskey in my inner pocket. I put on a brave face as I watch her walk down the aisle.

Because it’s too late.

I refuse to be the bastard who makes her cry on her wedding day, but I’m dying to tell her what I’ve always known. She’s my best friend, but she doesn’t realize she owns my f*cking heart and soul, too.

Each step down that aisle takes her farther away from me and brings her closer to him, forcing me to face the truth: I’ve fallen in love with someone who can’t be mine. If she’d just turn around, maybe she’d realize I love her more than he ever could.

I won’t ruin her perfect day, but my broken heart begs me to try and convince her.

Choose me.

Excerpt:

“Hollis?” I startle at the male voice calling my name. When I turn, I find a guy about my height wearing a button-down shirt beneath a sport coat and a pair of pressed slacks. He regards me with a mixture of surprise and recognition while I have no idea who the hell he is. He steps closer with a smile. “Sorry to catch you off guard,” he apologizes and holds out his hand to me. “Grant Stevenson.” I shake his hand warily. “Hollis Barnes.” I pause before adding, “But somehow, you already knew that.” He grins, and if I’m being completely honest, I don’t detect any douchebag vibes. “I recognized you from one of the photos Magnolia has in her room of the two of you.” It takes all my control to suppress the jolt that zigzags through me at his words. She still keeps a photo of us? His eyes crinkle at the corners, and he lifts his chin to gesture to me. “Although I have to be honest, the ink and beard initially threw me off.” A surprised laugh escapes me, and I slide my hands into my pockets. Grant steps closer and glances around before lowering his voice. “I’m actually glad you’re here. I know you and Magnolia haven’t seen one another in a while, but you’re her oldest friend…” Oldest friend. Not best friend. I don’t miss the phrasing. Although I don’t feel it’s intentional, it cuts deep just the same. “I’m nervous as hell, and I’m hopin’ you can tell me if she’d like this.” It takes me a moment to realize what he’s pulled out of his pocket. A velvet ring box and a packet of Pop Rocks. Fuck, fuck, fuck. I resist the urge to rub at the center of my chest, where searing pain radiates. He flicks open the box to reveal a ring with a large diamond that’s fancy as hell. Something Mrs. Barton would love and deem appropriate. But Magnolia? Hell no. “Her mom helped me pick it out.” Exactly. “And I know she loves Pop Rocks since she always has a pack.” Not the strawberry flavor. But he’s trying. I can see the nervousness in his expression. The hope. The excitement. I can’t crush this guy. He’s exactly what her parents have always wanted for her. The kind of guy who doesn’t get his hands dirty. The one with money and connections. The one who can give her the future her parents expect her to have. The one who won’t come home with rough hands, callused to hell and back from working on a project that’s for a high-end client or due to be auctioned off to a car collector with more money than they know what to do with. The man who wears button-downs like they’re second skin. Designer clothes. So caught up in my thoughts, I don’t immediately realize that he’s pocketed the items and is gazing in another direction. When I turn and follow his focus, catching sight of her weaving through the crowd, I take advantage of the moment and let my eyes drink her in. She’s…so goddamn beautiful. Her long blond hair spills down her back, and even beneath the shapeless graduation gown, her sleek, tanned legs peek out from the bottom hem, her heels accentuating her toned calf muscles. When she catches sight of Grant, her entire face lights up, and…goddammit. I can’t do this. This was a fucking mistake. It’s like someone’s performing open heart surgery and just cracked my chest open without anesthesia.

Choose me review and release blitz, R.C Boldt

I loved this book, even as an Alabama fan who can’t stomach anything to do with Auburn, lol.I love childhood romances and seeing Hollis and Magnolia’s relationship grow and develop. It really did give you a full sense of their whole history and their whole story.Hollis at times broke my heart. He’s so loving, so protective.Magnolia is sweet and innocent.Together they are great friends and a great couple.
I highly recommend this book (even with the Auburn connection) and suggest you give it a go!

Undeniable review and release blitz, Melanie Harlow

I really liked this book! I love childhood sweethearts/childhood friend stories and this is a great one.Oliver is so charismatic and lovable, as well as frustratingly clueless at times.Chloe is strong, but vulnerable but kind.Together, they’re kind of a mess but it’s great seeing how all the dips and rises their relationship takes. Normally I’m not a fan of flashbacks, but this is an example of how to do it well. One thing I would’ve liked to have seen was a little bit more. I kind of didn’t want this book to end and I felt like it could’ve and I would’ve kept reading. It’s an easy book to read.
So if friends to lovers is your thing, or even if it’s not, if you’re after a good quality romance, give this a go.

Pulling my two heavy textbooks for this class out of the stack too, I arrange everything nicely. Just as I am getting my brand new pencils ready, I am startled by a loud bang. My desk mate drops his books on the countertop and sits down, looking at me askance.I startle to realize that it’s the blond Greek god I ran from only yesterday. Tall and broad-shouldered, he wears his black denim and dark blue tee shirt incredibly well. He knows it too, judging by his posture. He perches on his stool and crosses his arms, expectant. Perfectly unkempt sandy blond hair, dark brows spread wide over the darkest blue eyes I’ve ever seen, a patrician nose, two incredible cheekbones, and the most expressive lips… This guy is fucking hot, excuse my French.Which are currently smirking at me. I knew hot guys back home in Prineville. Mostly I avoided them, truth be told. But this guy is on another level. He is so dazzling that he could work in television… and bad tv just so happens to be my weakness. Being around this guy is enough to make me rethink the bright yellow tee shirt dress I am wearing. I want more than anything to tug the hem down and smooth my hands over my black tights, but I don’t.Instead I blush, fumbling to introduce myself. Sticking my hand straight out and tossing my messy blonde hair back, I try for an authoritative voice. “I’m Emily Danes.”At the front of the classroom, the professor clears his throat, ready to start talking. My eyes dart to him, but then he reaches for his bunch of tissues again. Glancing back to my partner, I see him eye me up and down in a totally unsubtle way.At last, he leans forward and shakes my hand. His skin against mine is hot. I bite my lip, refusing to let a little thing like instant animal attraction do me in.“I’m Wolf,” he says, his voice low and gravelly. He looks me over once more. Then he arches a brow, his smirk deepening. “Did you find all of your panties last night?”My cheeks instantly go the exact color of a ripe tomato. I lick my lips and frown. What am I supposed to say to that?

The difference review and release blitz, Kaylee Ryan

This was an okay book. I have previously loved pretty much everything Kaylee’s written but this one fell a little flat for me. There are so many similarities here between most of her previous books. The guys are almost a carbon copy of each other, and so are the women. What I would’ve liked to have seen was more of a friendship being built, of him pursuing that rather than relentlessly pursuing her for a relationship she clearly wasn’t ready for. I also felt this book was not really well thought out. There was so much information at the start about Addy’s previous boyfriends it was confusing, then details we should know, like occupations, physical descriptions, even last names weren’t revealed until well into the book, just kind of chucked in there.
This whole book was a little disappointing and fell flat for me, sorry.

Shadowspell Academy release blitz, K.F Breene and Shannon Mayer

Shadowspell Academy, the second book in K.F. Breene and Shannon Mayers Culling Trials is NOW LIVE!  [image error]

"This book is Harry Potter meets the Hunger Games in a bold twist on a classic magical young adult adventure." Jaymin Eve, Bestselling Author of Supernatural Academy You Don’t Choose The Academy. The Academy Chooses You. Being accepted into an elite school of magic, monsters, and assassins was not my idea of higher education. But here I am, fighting my way through the Culling Trials to claim my right to be taught. As if the gauntlet-type physical and mental tests aren’t enough, people are going missing. People that are my friends. In a dangerous world where no one is as they seem, the golden rule is simple: Trust no one. They think we should just look out for ourselves. That we should leave the fallen behind and ask no questions. They clearly think we’re idiots. I got this far by trusting my instincts, and I’m not going to back down now. Those kids won’t be left to die. Not on my watch.

About Shannon Mayer

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was born into a family of Star Wars nuts. I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz. I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.) Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway. I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.) As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me. Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum. Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.

Kick review, Ali Dean

This was an okay book. I didn’t really like Kick. She was too aggressive at the start and I was a little confused as to why she really wanted. I did like her transformation but I felt the stuff with Nolan, her realisation, came out of the blue to excuse her actions. What happened is never okay, but more framework needed to be laid so it didn’t look so convenient.I liked Jack. I loved that he was so in touch with his emotions and what he wanted. He’s the best part of this book. It’s all over the place. I felt like it didn’t really know where it was going, or what it wanted.  The time skipping wasn’t great for me either. I would’ve liked to have seen more in those periods. It says it can be read as a stand-alone, as I did, but I don’t think it’s best read this way. All in all, this isn’t a great book, and not one I would recommend.

Bred review and release blitz, Ginger Scott

This was a difficult book for me. I hate Great Expectations, so to read a book inspired by it? Wasn’t really something I was clamouring to do, but I did because I love Ginger and her books. For me, this book was tough going. It was only when I separated this from Great Expectations where it got easier. It went faster still when Lily and Henry hit halfway through their sophomore year.Henry and Lily are of the same vein of the Dickens classic, but I did feel Lily was a little bit young and immature, possible too much for the character. But it is a great story, and the world building here was so vivid. This is a great homage to Dickens, so give it a try.

Release release boost, Lucia Franco

Title: ReleaseSeries: Off Balance #3Author: Lucia FrancoGenre: Sports Romance/Forbidden RomanceRelease Date: May 2, 2019

Blurb
After Kova’s devastating betrayal, Adrianna must become her own champion and place her Olympic dream ahead of all else. In doing so, she ignores the warning signs as both the extreme training and unending heartbreak begin to take their toll.
There is no atoning for what Kova did. The vow he made cannot be undone. With boundaries set and lines clearly defined, Kova will now have to be the one to relinquish control in order to regain Adrianna’s trust.
Though the dynamics shift between coach and gymnast, nothing can prepare them for the agonizing truth that is to come. Fighting for a dream becomes only half the battle when Adrianna’s fate is sealed, leaving them both with their biggest challenge yet.
** Author note **
Much like a student-teacher novel, the Off Balance series is a highly forbidden romance story between a gymnast and a coach. If you find this genre of novels to be not to your liking in any way, shape, or form, this series is not for you. This novel is purely fictional and does not reflect on real-life events. Gymnastics is a hands-on sport that involves many hours of close contact with an instructor. My main goal was to focus not only on the beauty of the sport in detail, but also what goes on behind closed doors and how working with a coach for nearly forty hours a week can evolve into something more. This story is meant to push you, to take you outside of your comfort zone. I hope you take the plunge with an open mind before making judgment. The Off Balance series is intended only for readers 18 years of age and older. Reader discretion is advised.

I really enjoyed this book. Aidan and Corrie are a great couple and I loved how things weren’t perfect for them, but they went with it.I loved the lols in this book, the not quite perfect moments, the perfect moments and everything in between.
This is a great, light hearted read and i highly recommend it!
