Currently reading – “The Storyteller Essays” by Walter Benjamin. Benjamin was a German Jewish philosopher and critic. He died in Catalonia in 1940 when he took an overdose of morphine tablets to escape the Nazis.

Currently reading – “The Antinomies of Realism” by Fredric Jameson. Jameson is a literary critic and cultural theorist. He currently teaches at Duke University. A little light reading here, obviously.

Currently Reading – “The Cambridge Companion to the English Short Story”, edited by Ann-Marie Einhaus. For the past year and a half, I have been much more interested in the short story as a medium than the novel. To paraphrase the Argentinian writer, Jorge Luis Borges, novels tend to have a lot of “stuffing” – and why write five hundred pages when you can accomplish the same thing in twenty pages?
