Book Reviews – October 2022

Seriously, you’d think I lounged around watching television all the live-long month of October based on the smattering of book reviews I bring you. (And so far, November may turn out to be even less.)
Oh.Well. Sometimes priorities get shuffled, don’t they?
BUT here we are, one week before Thanksgiving, and I am finally doing a wrap-up of my book reviews for October. I hope you find another book to add to your to-read pile.

Sunday Letter: 11.13.22
Hey, hey Sunday Letter friends~
Did you think I had abandoned my Sunday Letters altogether? Oh, no. I have been stretched a little thin though, unable to do all the things I want to do. And my Sunday Letters have taken a back seat to activities related to Bernice Runs Away.
Everything has a season—that’s the truth. And I’m grateful for this busy book season. In the words of Annie Lennox, sweet dreams are made of this…

Happy Sunday to my Sunday Letter readers~
We’ve had a gorgeous fall week here in northwest Arkansas. I hope you’ve had a chance to get outside and enjoy the cooler weather. Over on the other side of the state, the cotton harvest on our farm has ended. Once again I am thankful to be a farm girl from Mississippi County.
Sometimes I think you have to be from a place to fully appreciate it. I also believe leaving a place helps you see the full beauty of it when you return.

Book Reviews: September 2022
Yikes! I can’t believe we are almost halfway into October and I’m just now wrapping up my book reviews for September. I was tempted to skip posting this altogether, but one book I read in September is my absolute favorite so far this year, and I couldn’t not tell you about it. Maybe you’ve already read it? (Sometimes I’m late to the party. It happens a lot…)
Anyway, here we go.

Sunday Letter: 10.09.22
Dear Sunday Letter friends,
After finally getting Bernice out into the world, I’ve tried to regroup and take care of a few things I’ve been putting off. Like getting Betty White (my car) serviced. Like finding a new dentist and doing a little volunteer work at the Headquarters House in Fayetteville (where I earn the bulk of my annual master gardener hours). Like working in my own garden that has been somewhat neglected as of late.
The weather is cool and invigorating right now, but gracious we ...

Sunday Letter: 10.02.22
Dear Sunday Letter friends,
Happy October!
October is one of my favorite months of the year because of cooler weather and college football and harvest time and blooming asters. This October is even more special than normal because my third book—Bernice Runs Away—launched yesterday!
I promise I won’t talk about Bernice forever, but for now, yes, yes, I shall:)
I chose October 1st as my launch date because Bernice’s story begins in the fall. Well, technically her story began in 1938 when Bernice...

Laura Ingalls Wilder House
When my husband asked what I wanted for my birthday this year, I answered without hesitation—I want to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder House. Birthday #60 calls for something memorable, don’t you think? The Laura Ingalls Wilder House has been at the top of my bucket list since we moved to Northwest Arkansas and I learned how close the property is to us.
Fayetteville, Arkansas to Mansfield, Missouri is only 167 miles!

Sunday Letter: 09.18.22
Dear Sunday Letter friends,
I’ve driven across Arkansas the past few days, and I can report that harvest is in full swing back home in my northeastern corner of the state. Watching combines cutting rice, seeing cornfields ready for harvest, and walking through fields of cotton with bolls beginning to open—I never miss a chance to return home to the farm.
Signs of FallAlong with harvest, I’ve been seeing so many signs of fall. Yes, the daylight hours are becoming noticeably shorter; it seems to...

Book Reviews: August 2022

Good morning to all you fabulous readers out there. Today is already the 7th of September, and I’m just now posting my book reviews for August. Anyhoo, I read most of these books during the first half of the month when I was recouping from surgery. Then during the last half of the month I did very little reading as I was buried beneath final Bernice Runs Away tweaks. (A great way to be buried though!)
My book reviews here are a bit mixed (as are the genres). Two were l...

Sunday Letter: 09.04.22
Dear Sunday Letter friends,
Are you as excited as I am that September is here? I treasure the change of seasons, and yes I’m counting down to the first day of fall. Nineteen days!
I’m also counting down to Bernice Runs Away which launches on October 1. Twenty-seven days!
You know what Gracie Lee Eudora Abbott would do? She would make a construction paper chain to count down to both of these important dates.
Maybe I will too.
Honestly, I can’t believe my next book is almost here. Sometimes this ...
