Amazing things happen when you say YES
Writing a novel is an arduous task. Then you have to add marketing and publishing on top of that. I am writing two novels at the same time, this has become a common practice for me, plus I have the blog and the day job.
Yada-yada, you all know the drill.
I’ve also been asked to attempt some new tasks that were quite frankly, scary. I took a deep breath and said YES! I mean what’s the worst that can happen? It’ll turn out to be crap and we’ll all move on.
So what’s the task you ask?
October 22 2017, I was approached by my friend Lisa Crawford, she wanted to know if I would be interested in writing a 15 minute horror script for a film festival.
I’ve never written a script before, I don’t even know what that looks like. And I said, “I can try.”
I googled “HOW TO WRITE A SCRIPT” and then I wrote it.
On October 23 2017 I sent her the first draft, and she loved it.
Films, even short ones, take time. On Feb 1 2019, we had the first “unofficial” wrap party. The film is in editing and will soon be submitted to many festivals. That means I can’t share with you all – YET – but I can share the progress along the way.
A trailer will be coming soon, and then you all can watch out to see where it will be playing.

Now imagine if I said, “No, I can’t do that.” None of the above would exist.
It’s okay to try and fail, it’s not okay to be non-existent.

Writing and your health
Migraines – millions of us get them – there is NO writing for me during those.
Oops you got the poops! There’ll be many pauses, but shouldn’t interfere with writing too much.
The blues? Sometimes writing helps alleviate it, sometimes you can only curl up and hide away.
A common cold – usually you can struggle on – perhaps a bit dopey on cough syrup – might lead to interesting stories.
I have a virus ( not treatable with meds, lucky me) that is affecting my sinus’s/inner ear, so I get woozy and dizzy spells. Tons of fun! Therefore it’s taken me nearly two hours to write this simple blog. The novel’s going to be a blast this weekend, but I feel fine so I’ll write during the calm, and rest during the spins.

Fake it til you make it…or so they say
As described in wiki:
“Fake it till you make it” is an English aphorism which suggests that by imitating confidence, competence, and an optimistic mindset, a person can realize those qualities in their real life.[1][2] It echoes the underlying principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as a means to enable a change in one’s behavior. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fake_it_till_you_make_it

2018’s Horror Paperbacks
This year has been a very… intense one.
Due to my job, amazing (thank you so much) authors have sent me the paperbacks of their books.
I love paperbacks, and I love these authors. I still haven’t finished them all though, but I will, I will

Share a short story
Be Mine.
Jane tucked her newly acquired decorating books against her hip as she fished into her purse for her car keys. A voice came out of the darkness, startling her. Jumping, she almost dropped the books and pulled them tighter to her side as she turned.
“Jeepers Harold, you scared me.” Jane shifted her hands under the books to spread some weight.
Harold’s voice was hushed and breathy as he slid out from between his Taurus and a cement pillar. “I’ve been reading those books about manifesting what you want. You know the Tim Robbins and Andrew Carnegie books.”
Jane curled her lip, even from three feet away she could smell stale tobacco on his clothes. “Yeah, and how’s that working out for you?”
“You’re here aren’t you.” His left eye twitched rapidly.
“What do you mean?” A chill danced up her spine. She felt her nipples harden under her bra and rounded her shoulders, now longing for the cable-knit sweater that she thought was too hot to wear.
Harold stood straight, his brown stained teeth too jumbled in his small mouth appearing rat like as they peeked between his dry lips. “I’ve been visualizing you and me together.” His worn Keds shuffled the dusty cement as he moved imperceptibly closer.
“Uh,” Jane took a step back and hugged the books up to her chest. She took a quick glance beyond Harold and into the gray depths of the cold parking garage, noticing now how cavernous it felt. “Sorry Harold,” she mimicked checking her watch, never truly taking her eyes off him, “I’m in a bit of …”
Suddenly a shadow rose from behind a sleek black SUV. A swift motion of darkness that blended with the rest.
The shadow moved so fast that Harold didn’t get to turn his head before the steel pipe connected with his temple. His arms flew straight out towards Jane, as though reaching for an embrace, his body lost control and tottered sideways.
Jane gasped. Her eyes widened, dropping her books, she turned to run. Her foot slipped on the smooth cement. She instinctively put out her arms to catch herself, but her fall was halted by an unseen force, and she found herself wrapped in a granite embrace.
Jane felt the heat of the man’s body penetrate her chilled skin. Trying to look back and see who it was that held her, she never got the chance. A giant hand blocked her mouth and nose, holding her head firmly forward.
Her lungs had not had time to fill from her fright, and she attempted to suck in air through a wall of thick skin. Jane wiggled, kicking at solid thighs.
A soft voice that did not match the monster, whispered, “You were not his to take.”
The humid breath caressed her ear, her body involuntarily shivered, and she wet herself, as the voice finished.
“You are mine, Jane.”

Nonconformist or just bat-crap-crazy?
I don’t believe in New Years Eve!
Okay that’s that factually inaccurate. I know it happens, I see everyone celebrating, heck I’ve even been to many parties over the years. Though each time when midnight struck and people whooped and kissed, I’d be trying to find the best place to hide so I wouldn’t have to fake enjoying that moment.
I never got it.
I don’t follow any religion and time was invented by man to make life easier. So why do we need one night to be the catalyst to launch our changes?
If you want to lose weight, do it when you think it.
Want to work harder, work harder right now.
Need a major change in your life, what’s wrong with April or July?
January 1st is no different that any other 1st of the month, it’s another day to pay bills, cook dinner, take out the trash. Alright, I do enjoy not having to work for the man because it’s a holiday, but that’s how I treat every holiday.
Social media makes these times hard on people with troubles, depression or losses, and it just annoys those like me. I’ve already had to play the happy wishes card. Dec 31 – Jan 1 will be the worst.
I play along because I’m polite, and I do care about peoples well-being, only I care EVERYDAY! Not just once a year.

Facts if you want:
New years beginning
In pre-Christian Rome under the Julian calendar, the day was dedicated to Janus, god of gateways and beginnings, for whom January is also named. As a date in the Gregorian calendar of Christendom, New Year’s Day liturgically marked the Feast of the Naming and Circumcision of Jesus, which is still observed as such in the Anglican Church and Lutheran Church.[2][3]

SOCIAL MEDIA ANGST. SHORT & NOT SWEET
1. Groups that have a bazillion stupid rules. You can only post book sales Tues at midnight and blog Sunday before noon. Don’t post any links, only write in the thread. You can’t write in the thread, only in comments. Don’t share your new releases…
WHY?
Do you have any clue what a writers schedule actually looks like?
Most of the time I don’t even know what day it is, never mind which group allows me to post when –
[image error]
2. OR when I post a blog link, or a link to a sale, or to a friends page and admin has to jump into the comments and say “tell us about your post instead of just dropping links.”
I’m on this end of my computer saying, “SERIOUSLY!” The links tells you exactly what it is! So now I have to waste more time writing up a write up to a write up – yeah I said it and I’m sticking to it.
3. Writer admins that non-stop comment about writing structure. They continue to insist that you can’t write without plotting and planning first. Many of them are down right insulting about it as well.
Well guess what, unless you are going read my books, still insist I need structure and then offer to edit for FREE, I say shut-up! I have a way and you have a way and Jo-Bob has his way – so there are other ways. It’s called art for a reason.
And I wont even get into the fake accounts or Perverts! We’ve all seen it and just don’t get the point.
Share your tales with us too.

Making book video promo’s
MIA from home page, so reblogging to see if it fixed the bug
When I first decided to make a “commercial” for my debut novel, I searched and searched for free options. I tried a few and found them lacking.
Then I discovered Animoto. I liked the ease of use and the amount of options to play with. However using for free left me with their branding. It wasn’t too obnoxious, but some people didn’t like it.
Over the last couple of years, they’ve taken away many of the best features, moving them to the paying only options, and it became harder to create a simple ad.
Some great people in a writers club told me the Windows Movie Maker was good, and watermark free!
I checked it out, it did cost me $40.00 – but that’s for life. Which is worth it in the grand plan of becoming a famous author.
I’ve made many commercials over the past couple of months and…
