MY REVIEW
What I love about this book is that it is written with much love and passion.
From her bio I learn that G. Nieves is a passionate researcher of Scripture and religious history and as such she has found that many Christian customs and concepts don’t have a biblical foundation.
This is where the author and I agree 100%. The book therefore did not strike me as radical but I found a fellow student who loves The Word with a passion as I do also.
Did I agree with everything the author has to say on the subject? Not really. Although I agreed with a lot. But I would never argue the point of the Trinity because the word Trinity is not found in the Bible and that is where the argument stops for me.
The research is thorough and honest. The author does not try to push her agenda without backing up every claim she makes. I’m just a little amused that it seems to be an issue for many religious people because the Bible doesn’t mention Trinity anywhere, so why would it need refuting? The Word speaks for itself.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gladys Nieves has been a student of the Bible as far as she can remember. She is a passionate researcher of Scripture and religious history and loves to get to the root of current ideas and why people believe what they do.
She has found that many Christian customs and concepts don’t have a biblical foundation. For this reason, her research hassled her to challenge current ideas and this book is no exception.
This is the first of a series of books designed to motivate others to think for themselves, to search and see if their beliefs are truly in harmony with God’s Word. She is convinced that truth does exist and that it matters greatly. We just have to search for it.
G. Nieves has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Master level studies in Communications. She has worked as a journalist for major newspapers and is an independent writer. She also loves to travel and read historical novels.

Excerpt
Where are you from?
And where are you going?
The basket of chips sizzles as it descends into the hot oil. The shop owner looks sideways at Amelia. ‘Where are you from?’
Amelia tenses, thoughts flashing through her mind. She doesn’t want to be associated with where she’s lived for the last eight years and anyway, she sure as hell isn’t going back there. As far as she’s concerned that means she isn’t from there. She leans against the counter, her clenched hands resting in her khaki trouser pockets. She realises that she doesn’t know anymore where she’s from or where she belongs, but this isn’t the right answer.
Through the shop window she watches her two teenage daughters mucking around in the car. The lyrics of Limp Bizkit transmitted by the car radio fill the air in and around the shop whilst the car trailer with all their stuff is shaken by the children’s antics.
The shop owner follows her glance, continuing his inquisition, ‘Oh, you’re on holidays, are you?’
No, she isn’t. She smiles at him.
Finally he’s covering the chips with salt and wrapping them in layers of paper.
He now demands, ‘Where’re you going?’
She pulls her faded jacket tightly around her whilst wrinkling her freckled nose. She looks up at the ceiling. If only she knew where she was going. The one thing she knows for sure right now is that sh doesn’t know how to answer any of his questions. She has absolutely no idea where she’s going and certainly doesn’t need to be reminded of this.
This above excerpt is part of my contribution to the anthology.
My review
Glimpses of Light contains stories and poems of imagination and hope. I was stoked that my submission for this anthology was accepted and even more jazzed when I received my copy. I feel proud and humbled that my name appears next to well-established authors and grateful that I was allowed to contribute.
I enjoyed reading all the stories and poetry in the anthology but one in particular touched my heart. It is called Window Seat and was written by Ellen Carr.I found her words warm and comforting despite the hopelessness conveyed.
What struck me most about Ellen’s poetry was not what was said, but the power and holiness of the unspoken in her writing.

the Author JEANETTE O’HAGAN
Jeanette O’Hagan enjoys writing fiction, poetry, blogging and editing. She is writing her Akrad’s Legacy Series—a Young Adult secondary world fantasy fiction with adventure, courtly intrigue and romantic elements. MY REVIEW
Mark says that people who have solid morning routines tend to be more successful in all areas of life- health, finance, relationships and so forth. I’ve studied the habits of some of the more successful people in life and indeed this is the one thing they all have in common: a solid morning routine. Bacera then backs up this assertion by quoting from various sources which state that successful people are simply those with successful habits. There are plenty quotes throughout the book from all sorts of famous and successful people; I like that!
It sounds so simple and yet, very few of us start with a solid morning routine or consciously practice cultivating successful habits. If you’ve tried before and failed you should get Mark’s book because he truly gives a 10-minute morning routine which you can start using today to change your life for the better. I love the fact that Mark starts his day connecting up with His Creator and how everything else flows from there.

Life is only sucky if you make it sucky. Growing up in the 30 miles by 4 miles island of Guam, it would have been easy for Mark to believe that he was trapped and never going anywhere. But, he made the most out of his early life by exploring jungles, surviving 100 mph typhoons, playing with snakes, swimming with frogs, and playing basketball in flip-flops.
Eventually, he found the opportunity to get off the island and served a 2-year mission for his church. Since then, Mark has developed a love of travel and seeing every inch of beautiful mother Earth.
In the course of his days, he has developed a belief in the importance of getting up early and putting self, God, and family first to create a perfect day.
Mark is married to his college sweetheart and now lives in the small town she grew up in in Japan. There, he teaches English in several places including the school that his wife used to attend.
When he’s not teaching in the classroom or writing, he enjoys reading, playing sports, tinkering around on the computer, learning languages, and playing with and teaching his daughter English. He also makes it a point in his writing and speaking to tell the world about how awesome life is and how to make it even better.

MY REVIEW
Jim says that belonging as social creatures, we need to feel that we are a part of a group or groups. This is first addressed in our family. Later, we branch out into groups formed from peers and/or interests. He then addresses how all of those factors are important in our development.
I really like how Jim approaches the concept of self esteem. He gets to the bottom of it by breaking self esteem issues down in small parts and then he addresses each and every part thoroughly.
I started to read this book more or less on behalf of someone else to see how I could help this person along. What struck me when I was reading this book is that, as I was reading, I realised that I could use some help myself in the area of self esteem. It is obvious that Jim is an experienced counselor who has a good grasp on how to successfully resolve issues of low self esteem.
What grabbed me is his summation of what love is. ‘Love is more than an emotional reaction to another person. It is the summation of all the ways in which we act and react to one another.’ Amen to that. Really useful guide for anyone who struggles with self image issues.

If you’ve read My Story of Survival, you know that I burned out pretty good and due to neglecting my health for a long time nearly ended up on the scrapheap. But GOD is good and heard my prayers and now I have all this bonus time available to write books.
I felt that I needed to tell what happened to me as a warning to other people not to neglect their health, because life is very precious and none of us is invincible.
When I started off writing the book I didn’t particularly enjoy what I was doing because, let’s face it, why write about illness once you are starting to feel better?
However, during the process of writing the book I got excited that little ol’ me would be able to help some people and possibly even prevent others from getting sick, just by telling my story.

I got hold of this book for a friend of mine that has the same type of problem as Mimi. I think the book is very useful for people discovering how your bodies react to food. I am sure this book will help my friend. I recommend this book to anyone who has any kind of physical or emotional eating disorder. I gave it 4 out of 5 because I would like it to be longer. I hope the author writes more.

Less than ten days later on 26.10.2015 My Story of Survival ranks in another relevant category #1 Best Seller under Irritable Bowl Syndrome.
Why is this so good? This is so good because all these categories are relevant to the content of my book and anyone who is suffering from any of these conditions would have come across my book if they were googling for this. That means that my wish and prayer of being able to help people, is being answered.

Amazon #1 Best Seller under Chronic Pain on 26.12.2015. And that just was like a huge band-aid on wounds for me and I couldn’t feel as much as a twinge of pain all day long on the 26th.

So what if I didn’t agree with any of the labels I was given? The conditions attached to these labels still affect me one way or another and these labels are still being handed out to people today.

This book reminds me of what happened to my brother.
Book description
Marge doesn’t want to be a nun. Too bad she is in training to be one. She wants to escape convent life and the nuns. The “True Romance” magazines she reads cause her to dream of an idyllic life married to a man who will provide her with love, freedom from rules, and security. Marge has chosen the man… Can she convince him she is the one?
My review
I thank the author for writing this book.
My brother sang in a choir and everyone agreed that he had a wonderful voice and a bright future ahead, possibly as a singer. Then one day he came home from choir practice and there were hushed voices and strangers coming and going. He never went back to choir practice and when I asked my Mum why, she said, ‘We don’t talk about it.’ And that was that.
This book reminds me of what happened to my brother. It is beautifully written and hit more than one nerve in me. We need more of the real truth to come out and this book is another step in that direction. I thank the author for writing this book.
I became quite unnerved as I was reading this book. But I certainly appreciated the honesty and writing style and the story was written in such a captivating voice that I read it in one sitting,

Silent night holy night
Jesus is born
Once upon a time around the year 0 there was a woman called Mary and her husband Joseph who lived in a place which was called Nazareth. Together they travelled to the place Bethlehem.
When they got to Bethlehem it was nighttime and all the motels and hotels were full and there was nowhere for them to sleep.Mary was also pregnant and that night gave birth to a baby who she wrapped up in a little bit of fabric and laid down in a box in a horse stable because that was the only place available for them to rest.
The Son of God is born
A little bit further away outside in a field there were shepherds looking after their sheep and an angel came to these shepherds and said to them, I have good news for you and everyone else in the world, it is reason to be very happy because today the Son of God was born. You will find Him in a horse stable.
And all of a sudden with the angel there were many more from heaven all saying how good God is and peace on earth and good things for all of us.
Christ the Saviour of the world is born
The shepherds then ran to the stable to visit Mary and Joseph and the baby and afterwards they told everyone that Christ the Saviour of the world was born.
Because Jesus’ birth was such a big event in all the time that the world has existed, people started to number the years after Jesus was born. It is now the year 2014. That means that Jesus was born 2014 years ago and the dates of our calendar tell us everyday how long ago Jesus was born.
The Son of God came to earth
And when people talk about when something happened they say, This happened so many years before or after Jesus was born (BC or AD.) All over the world once a year people sing songs and celebrate that very special day that the Son of God came to earth.
Below are the lyrics of a popular song which people sing to celebrate Jesus’ birth.

Can we live forever? Science says perhaps .. GOD says yes!
A few months ago I came across an article by Annelise Corse, an Australian Medical Scientist and lecturer. She asked the question: ‘Can we live forever?’ and then answered this question by saying, ‘Medical science says perhaps.’
Annelise mentions that longevity medical science is an evolving field and that medical researchers are using powerful new technologies to identify, avert and manage aging and diseases traditionally associated with old age. She says that another recent breakthrough in age-reversal occurred in 2014, when scientists from Harvard University and the University of New South Wales discovered genes that fight against the aging process.
I reckon that’s good news! The Bible tells us that the world’s oldest person Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years. I’ll sign up for that any day … in good health that is. If I get to live on this planet for that many years I may be able to at least work through half the projects I’ve lined up on my to-do list.
‘Get rid of the word immortality’
Earlier in the year, Matthew Dunn wrote an article in the Science section of news.com.au titled ‘Researchers believe a biological revolution enabling humans to experience everlasting youthfulness is coming. In the article it states that the first person who will live to be 1,000 years old has already been born and that a biological revolution enabling humans to experience everlasting youthfulness is just around the corner. Aubrey Grey, a Cambridge gerontologist aims to undo the damage done by the wear and tear of life and he firmly believes that getting rid of the word immortality is a step in the right direction.
“The first thing I want to do is get rid of the use of this word immortality, because it’s enormously damaging, it is not just wrong, it is damaging,” he told Motherboard.
“It means zero risk of death from any cause — whereas I just work on one particular cause of death, namely ageing.” Mr de Grey said his research aims to undo the damage done by the wear and tear of life, as opposed to stopping the ageing process altogether.
“If we ask the question: ‘Has the person been born who will be able to escape the ill health of old age indefinitely?’ Then I would say the chances of that are very high,” he said.
“Probably about 80 per cent.”
A follow-up article by news.com.au explores the problems with humans living to 1000.
What does the Bible have to say about this?
It appears that Aubrey Grey proposes to deal with the concept of immortality by getting rid of the word itself. That is a novel way to go about it.
According to scripture the oldest man who ever lived was Methuselah who lived for 969 years (Genesis 5:27).
Other people listed in the bible who lived to a ripe old age were Adam who lived 930 years (Genesis 5:5). Seth lived 912 years (Genesis 5:8). Enosh lived 905 years (Genesis 5:11). Kenan lived 910 years (Genesis 5:14). Mahalalel lived 895 years (Genesis 5:17). Jared lived 962 years (Genesis 5:20). Enoch lived 365 years before God took him (Genesis 5:22–24). Lamech lived 777 years (Genesis 5:21). And Genesis 9:29 records that Noah lived 950 years.
Can we live forever? Science say perhaps … GOD says yes!
The Holy Word also tells us that, Enoch walked with God,
And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Elijah was taken by a horse drawn chariot of fire in a whirlwind up into heaven,

Everlasting life
After his Crucifixion Jesus was taken up by a cloud to sit at the right hand of God.
