It is My faith and God’s Holy Word and His love that kept me alive. Praise the Lord. Thanks to him I can share these life-giving words with you.

At various times each one of these precious Scripture verses gave me hope, lifted me up, inspired and encouraged me and kept me going.

Some of My Favourite Scripture Verses

I have so many favourite Scripture verses, literally hundreds of them. Over the years, with the help of family and a whole bunch of freelancers and friends, I created 12 sets of 24 Favourite Scripture Verses.

You can find some of these verses here on my website.

One set is about ‘Blessings’, another on ‘Hope’ and one on ‘Healing.’ We created a set on ‘Love’ and on ‘God’s Commandments,’ on ‘Praise,’ ‘Prosperity,’ ‘Comfort’ and ”Living Forever.’

I treasure God’s Word and the comfort and hope it brings. I travel through the Bible on a regular basis to go gold mining.

The plan is to make all these encouraging and inspiring verses available from my website so that anyone can download a whole set and print it off on their own computer. Alternatively you can right click and save to your computer and set as a screensaver.

International current affairs correspondent Mimi Emmanuel reports.

This morning at 9.30 am London time, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll released a new statement from Buckingham Palace.

We, Queen Elizabeth ll, sincerely apologise for the hurt and mistreatment experienced by my grandson Harry, his wife Meghan and my great-grandchild Archie.

I was horrified to hear about their distressing experiences which they endured at the hands of media, palace staff and family members.

A thorough investigation will be launched into all the false accusations which have been made against them and the lack of respect and care endured by Meghan as Harry’s girlfriend and his wife.

We, the Queen, will make restitution fourfold.

We will deal with these matters privately but the public needs to know that as a grandmother I have been blindsided by courtiers, family and media. 

I thought that Meghan and Harry were enjoying holidays in Australia and California and now I’ve discovered that they fled for their lives. 

Heads will roll… guaranteed.

I’m looking for new courtiers. Anyone at all is welcome to apply because clearly what’s been happening so far hasn’t been working. It’s time for the monarchy to turn a new leaf.

Meghan’s Mum, Doria has been employed as a consultant to help us choose appropriate people to deal with racial issues. Meghan will be consulted on how we can prevent bringing on suicidal thoughts in new family members. 

Harry’s income will be restored to him fourfold. And Archie was made a prince this morning retrospectively, with all the protection that comes with it.

I am deeply sorry this happened to two fine young people like Harry and Meghan. This should never have happened on my watch.

I will make sure that the legacy I leave will be of a monarchy of inclusion, love and fairness.

I am grateful to Harry and Meghan for speaking up. If it was not for them I would have been left in the dark about this. I recognise the courage that must have taken to do so.

My promise to them is that I will turn this around. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their honesty and integrity.

I ask the media and the world to treat each other with love, kindness and compassion and to particularly do so towards my favourite grandson Harry and his wife Meghan. They have suffered unnecessarily for way too long. 

Now I know what I know… this will never happen again in the British monarchy.

Today is the first day of our new credo: Fairness, Compassion and Love to All.

If only… wouldn’t it be nice?

You can read this as an early April’s fool or you can read it as what should have happened, and so far hasn’t.

Dear Harry and Meghan, 

This should never have happened to you in plain sight for the entire world with hardly anyone ever speaking up for you. I am so sorry.

I apologise to you on behalf of all of us who wanted to but did not speak up because we felt powerless to stop the paparazzi and outta control courtiers and so on.

If I have advice for you at all, it is to hire someone to filter out all the hate from the world and only read the good bits.

The bad journalism says nothing about you and everything about them. Please don’t waste your time and mental health on it.

Instead of being afforded the protection, love and security that you were both entitled to, your inheritance was blatantly ripped away from you for no good reason whatsoever and your name has been vilified again and again by the ignoramus and their allies.

From very early on you were both thrown into a media circus and given no reasonable choices whatsoever. Your restraint, dignity and composure are a lesson to us all. Thank you.

I applaud both of you for the sensible choices you made after the vicious attacks you endured and still do. I hope and pray that you’ll find a comfortable sense of normality for your combined lives and perhaps this blogpost can contribute a smidgen to that.

And if you ever were to come to Australia again, I would love to take you and Archie on a whale cruise. You can consider this an official invitation. So fun!

Restitution according to the Bible.

 Luke 19:1-9 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.

Exodus 22:1 “If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters or sells it, he must repay five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep.

Ezekiel 33:15 if he restores a pledge, makes restitution for what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without practising iniquity–then he will surely live; he will not die.

Have you ever felt like Jonah? And no, I am not a prophetess. But as children of God, we know that our lives are not just about eating ice creams and sitting on the beach. Sure, we’ll indulge in that every now and then, but this is not what we’re aiming for in life. We’ve got stuff to do. Jesus told us… right?

Jonah is portrayed in the Bible as a reluctant prophet who hesitated when God told him to go and tell some people. He ran away from the job at hand, was swallowed by a whale, spat out and eventually did as he was told. This story ended well. You can read about it in the books of Jonah 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the Bible.

All of us, religious or not. We were born uniquely to do something. This could be to take care of our partner, the kids, the family, run a business, take care of Mum and Dad when the need arises, teach or heal the sick, cloth and feed the poor, comfort those who need this. Whatever it is for our unique situation, we know what it is we need to do.
Some people say that they cannot figure out what their special talent or calling in life is. If that is you, I wrote about how to find out what your mission is in earlier posts, here and here.

I am celebrating!

I’ve felt like Jonah. And now I don’t anymore because I did as I was told. So I’m celebrating!

Unlike Jonah who wished that he would die, I’m happy that I am able to share my story.

Around twelve years ago, I knew that I was supposed to tell my story. I knew that I had to write it down to give people an opportunity to reflect and think for themselves what they would like to do.

So I wrote it down, but like Jonah I was reluctant to share it. You know, I thought, ‘oh people won’t like it, they’ll disagree, they’ll this… and they’ll that…’ So I wrote my story down but I never advertised it so very few people ever found it. My story is only around 100 pages.
After I wrote my story down and half-assed the sharing part, (published but did not advertise) I experienced one calamity after another. Meanwhile, I participated in a number of anthologies and wrote book after book, like twelve of them, but never ‘that’ one. The one I was told to.

Then I was catapulted off a horse and could have died but I didn’t. This is when I knew that I couldn’t put it off any longer and had to share my story.

I thought to myself: Imagine me getting to the pearly gates and Peter saying, ‘Did you do as you were told?’ and I would have to shake my head and say, ‘Well, I used some of the talents I was given, but uh, uh, not for the purpose I was told.’

That would look bad. I mean that would look really bad.

I cringed thinking about it.

So I did as I was told. I found the cover which was created by a family member twelve years ago, and I located the manuscript, overcame endless hurdles to do with deleted files on computers and incompatibility between Word and Google docs and eventually gave the manuscript to my editor and published it. Now I’m celebrating because I can tick this one off the list. Yes!

“Mimi, that’s feral! You don’t feed people grass!”

I shrug and grab her glass as well.

Shaking her head from side to side.

“What about it?”

“You reckon, just listening to certain songs will get you the mark?”

“Makes sense to me. I don’t like people blasting that loud rough stuff into my ears, it gives me the creeps.”

Carol
“Never really gave it much thought, to be honest. I like turning the music up loud when I’m cleaning the house. Don’t really care what’s on as long as it is loud with a groovy tune.”

“Whatever works for you, Carol. I like instrumentals. That way I don’t have to figure out what my mind is being influenced by, or should I say poisoned with?“

Carol
“That’s a bit rough.”

“You were worried about getting the mark of the Beast, right?”

“Well, everyone is talking about it.”

“Sure. If you don’t want to line up for this mark. Stay away from music feeding you a scenario you don’t want to be part of.”

“I guess.”

“Find a leader, a shepherd to guide you. I’ll share my favourite with you.“

“Mimi, aren’t you worried? You know that this whole COVID thing is a cover-up to give people the mark of the Beast?”

“Huh?”

Carol
“Girl, don’t you now that we’re living in the end times?”

“I hear you. But can you explain to me how people that walk with God will get the mark of the Beast?”

Carol
“Huh?”

“Twelve years ago I started research on the Beast and his mark, name, number and image and there is no way that anyone who walks with God can get the Beast’s mark. No way.”

Carol
“Oh, that’s good, isn’t it?”

me
“That’ not only good. That’s really good Carol. And true!”

Carol
“I like that.”

me
“Me too. Let’s give thanks to Our Father for keeping us safe from the mark of the Beast.”

“It’s a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord. To sing praises unto His Name. Oh most High, to shew forth your loving kindness. Praise Yah!”

If Jesus were to give a sermon in your church today

Would you listen?

If Jesus were to give a sermon in your church today, would you pay attention? Or would you be too busy listening to the other teacher(s)? (Thank you, Doug for pointing that out to me)

Jesus said He was the only teacher.

Jesus told us to follow Him (not anyone else).

And He said that He spoke His Father’s words and followed His Father’s commandments.

Do you?

And if you don’t… who are you following and why?

Jesus taught us about conduct of life and spirituality. He taught us God’s Love Rules. He explained why they are important. 

And He lived according to these rules to show us how it is done.

Thank you Jesus, I love you for your sacrifice. I love you for your exemplary life and for the example you set for us to live a sinless and love-filled life.

Conversations with a family member about what is meant when we’re told to ‘invite Jesus into our hearts’ motivated me to study the Bible in-depth. 

The answer to this question was not readily available and inspired me to continue with my Bible studies. 

In the process, five common Christian myths were busted and I discovered what true love is all about.

I’ve bundled my findings in ‘The Truth, Love & God Series’ and just launched book three in this trilogy; ‘The Core Message of the Bible in a Few Pages – God’s Love Rules: The Truth About The Good News (The Truth, Love & God series Book 3).’

Is it all about the colour?

I love cycling on my Gekko HP Velotechnik recumbent trike. Thank you, Gekko! And naturally, I want to be safe when I do so. I tell you what happened after I lost my helmet the other day.

I Lost My Helmet

By law we need to wear a bicycle helmet, here in Queensand, Australia, when we go out for a cycle.

How on earth did I last week end up back home without my helmet, without my glasses, without my scarf and without my gloves? I do not know.

One moment I’m cycling wearing all of these, the next moment I’m back home with none of these.

I’m not going into detail as to why this happened because the short answer is that I do not know how this happened. Also I have spare glasses, spare scarves and even spare gloves. The only thing I don’t have is a spare helmet. All I had to do was get myself another helmet.

One of my children offered me her helmet but I was not okay with that. What would she do if she wanted to go for a ride? A helmet is mandatory.

So off we went to Kmart to buy another helmet. It’s all about colour, right? To stay safe, we want a bright colour.

Kmart has nice pink helmets for seven dollars. That’ll do me.

My other daughter also needs a helmet because the straps on hers broke the other day. She wants a blue one. But not a Kmart one. She wants a fashionable one. Fair enough, she’s young. When we’re young, we want fashionable helmets. Where does she want to go for her helmet? She tells me that she has seen a nice blue one online for sixty dollars. I nearly choke. Sixty dollars for a helmet? Just because of shape and colour?

Shopping Online for Crystal

When we get home, Crystal goes online and shares with me her selection of helmets. “Why blue? And why that shape,” I ask. Knowing that blue is her favourite colour. But fifty-three dollars worth of favourite colour?
“It matches her outfit,” she tells me. Her preferred shape is more fashionable.

Change Of Direction… Looking for Red Helmets

Okay, I’m thinking, why shouldn’t I get a colour that matches my outfit? So far I’ve just thrown stuff together so as not to get a chill when I’m cycling. But she’s planted the seed and all of a sudden I find myself googling red coloured helmets. My trike is red you see. Hell, I’m thinking I may even match the Gekko red with lippie.

This is fun. We’re both googling till our fingers are sore and it’s time to go to bed. Price, what price, who cares; I saw a gorgeous red coloured helmet… red is a safe colour, right? I like the colour of the Align helmet best.

I find a local retailer that stocks these helmets for fifty-nine dollars and tomorrow morning I’ll be on the phone to them.

Red It Is!

First thing in the morning I phone the cyclist shop. 

“I’m after one of these red helmets, this is the code. Do you have one in store in my size please?”

For whatever reason, I cannot find their webpage back online but I had made note of the helmet code.

Bob from the cyclist shop also cannot find the page, “it’s down,” he says, “for maintenance,” so he cannot look up the code at the moment.

“What was I after again?”

I answered, “I’m a girl, it’s all about the colour and I want the helmet to match my bike which is red.”

Or Is It MIPS?

He misunderstood me and thought I said MIPS.

“Was it a MIPS helmet?” he asked. 

“What’s MIPS?” I say. 

“MIPS is good,” Bob says.

“Talk me into it,” I say.

And he did.

He said, “MIPS prevents you from getting a concussion when you have a fall.”

What? I thought all helmets would do that.

Apparently not.

Well, that’s news to me. Call me naïve, but without giving it much thought, I thought all helmets would prevent me from getting a concussion. 

Not true. 

Oh.

Suddenly, colour wasn’t as much of a priority. I truly thought all helmets would prevent me from getting a serious injury in case of an accident.

My seven-dollar Kmart helmet has a label certifying that the helmet meets the Australian and New Zealand standard (AS/NZS 2063) and has passed stringent safety tests. What does that mean?

According to the ultimate bike helmet buying guide, this means, what I also thought to be true, and that price is irrelevant when it comes to safety because all helmets are approved. Below is what I copied and pasted from the Bike Exchange website on the 6th of July 2020.

Right? Wrong!

You see. I had been happy with my seven-dollar Kmart helmet because, till my daughter planted other seeds, I didn’t care about colour, shape or weight. I thought that as long as a helmet was approved and had the (AS/NZS 2063) seal I was going to be safe from serious injury because my helmet would protect me. My helmet, which had come with the bike, had served me well and when I lost it I was happy to buy another one off the shelf from Kmart because it was quick, easy and affordable.

MIPS Reduces Traumatic Brain Injuries

What I discovered by listening to Bob from the Adrenaline Bike shop is that the MIPS helmets came about when a scientist and neurosurgeon collaborated to reduce traumatic brain injuries caused by bike accidents.

The MIPS design was patented in 2002. 

In a nutshell, MIPS is designed to soak up some of the energy from oblique impacts to protect the brain.

Sounds good to me.

Wow! Thank you, Bob, for explaining all this to me. 

We’ve clearly come a long way from when I was riding a bicycle as a child without a helmet and got concussed quite a few times when I tumbled off my bike without a helmet. 

I thought that the Australian and New Zealand standard stringent safety test (AS/NZS 2063) were sufficient protection when buying a helmet. 

After talking to Bob, I understand that there is more to it than that. And that technology has come a long way in the last few years.

The good news is that the MIPS is available for around $60. So now we can have fashion and safety rolled into one.

However, this is not all that Bob had to share.

But Wait, There’s More

“Better still,” he said.

“Yes, what?” I asked.

“There is even more advanced technology,” he said.

“Okay,” I said. “Talk me into it.”

By now I understood that the precious grey matter between my ears could be protected better than I thought, and I wanted to know all there was to know about it.

Particularly because only a month ago my goofy big Dane cross had pulled me over which had caused me a rib dislocation. This had happened at near-enough standstill speed. Because of this I had decided not to take Layla, or Blondie as her nickname goes, on rides with me any longer.

I was happy at the time that I was wearing a helmet because with the fall, I banged my head and ribs against rocks and that could have ended quite differently if it had been just my skull without the protection.

This fall alerted me to the need for good protection.

It’s just that at the time I thought I had the best possible protection available for seven dollars.

I know, silly me. I don’t always think everything out. Maybe I should share Layla’s nickname.

Bob continued.

“Six months ago I was riding with ten mates on the Sunshine Coast and we all went down. It was a bad crash and I was the only guy in the team that went home without a concussion.”

That’s impressive.

“Why was that?”

Bontrager WaveCel technology

Bob grinned, “I was the only rider wearing a Bontrager WaveCel helmet.”

“Okay, you talked me into it. Tell me more.”

“Not so long ago, in March 2019, a new system was patented by Bontrager, the WaveCel Technology.”

Once I got home I did more research online.

Is WaveCel Technology better than MIPS?

Outside Online tells us the following copied and pasted on the 5th of July 2020.

How did the team come to that conclusion?

Science Direct gives more detail about Evaluation of a novel bicycle helmet concept in oblique impact testing.

Summing up the Research

Foam-only helmets, and this includes helmets which meet the Australian and New Zealand standard (AS/NZS 2063) have the highest brain-injury risk at 50 percent.

Followed by the MIPS with a brain-injury risk of 34%.

And the clear winner is the WaveCel technology helmet which has a brain injury risk of just 1.2 percent.

When we read, ‘Australian and New Zealand standard (AS/NZS 2063)’ we should understand that this is ‘a minimum requirement’ and not necessarily ‘the best available’ or ‘adequate protection’ given the circumstances.

Do your research. Be Safe!

It took me 15 minutes to become more educated about safe bicycle helmets. If you are like me and thought that the Australian and New Zealand standard (AS/NZS 2063) label will keep you and yours safe… think again.

You’ll be safer than riding without a helmet, that’s for sure. But not as safe as you can be, once you are aware of today’s technology.

Ecstatically Happy that I Lost My Helmet

You understand that I am ecstatically happy that I lost my helmet the other day. 

Had I not lost my helmet, it could have been years before I discovered the new WaveCel technology.

Without a doubt this is the helmet of the future and for those of us lucky enough to have discovered it, we can wear this helmet today when we go for a ride.

I soon hope to be picking up my red helmet that could be up to 48 times more effective at preventing concussions. I’ll be fashionable as well as safer.

I know that during the COVID19 season many Mum’s saw their homes convert into offices as well as schools. Your job may have tripled in volume and significance. People around you got sick and needed care and you provided and still are providing that care, and some of your charges died.

And yet, you keep going. And you continue to be that pillar of strength for all those around you. You are the best and  without you, this world is nothing and has nothing worth having. I applaud you!

My children organised a ‘Mothers Day Luncheon’ last year. To honour the visiting Mums and in memory of my Mum, I searched for memorable, funny and to-the-point quotes about Mums and Motherhood.
