Synopsis of TRUCE: Novis Initiis by Risha Chaurasia

Truce explores the themes of friendship, love and self-discovery in a fun way. The story revolves around 5 protagonists-Tiya, Ron, Udit, Cayra and Edi, with each one of them facing their own challenges.

The story takes you through their journey of tackling their problems and blooming into confident young adults. But, they don’t do this alone. They do this through the power of friendship and relationships.

The story beautifully portrays the reality of today’s youth and provides a fresh perspective to the reader.

It’s all about finding the right people at the right time!

Name of character to be interviewed:

Udit Agnihotri

Why was this character chosen for this interview?:

This character has been the most loved and popular. His story too is the most dramatic and touching of them all. He is the only character to have a romance in the novel and the readers loved his and Valerie’s story!

He is the sweetest and most down to earth character as well.

Question 1: Please introduce yourself.

Answer: Hey everyone! I’m Udit, and I’m an ex footballer, and currently a football coach. I am half Indian and was brought up in a South Indian household.

I had contracted a life threatening disease, came out victorious against it.

Question 2: Who are the most important people in your life?

Answer: My friends, Tiya Reynolds, Ron Watish, Cayra Mathews Hannigan, and Edi Boatman. My parents Anay and Angela Agnihotri and my love, Valerie Jenkins Agnihotri.

These people are my support system and the sole reason I’m alive.

Question 3: Let’s about your fight against your disease. Despite losing both your friends and Valerie, what kept you going?

Answer: Well, their love for me. I was out of their sight, never out of their hearts. I had to live for a brighter future. The will to live and to get back to normalcy motivated me.

Question 4: If you could say anything to Valerie at this moment, what would it be?

Answer: I’d say, Thank you. Thank you for always loving me. Thank you for always standing beside me. Thank you for weathering the storms with me. All I’d say is thank you!

Question 5: What message would you like to give to the world?

Answer: The message that true love never fades! And love does conquer all. And some infinities are in fact, bigger than other infinities. Trust me, if you have hope and love, you have everything.

I’d also say, that this too shall pass. Keep faith and fight until the very end.

Father’s Day 2021 Superhero Craft Kit – Product Review

Father’s day 2021 happens to be on Sunday June 20 and if you have young children, then you need to check out my Father’s Day 2021 Superhero Craft Kit – Product Review.

The other day, I was asked by My Mini Maker if my 6 year old daughter would be interested in reviewing their Superhero themes craft kit as a Father’s day gift idea. I will be honest and say that I was hesitant. My daughter is 6 going on 16 and very independent. She loves doing things on her own and derives so much pleasure when she sees the finished product. So I was hesitant in saying yes to the review. I didn’t want my daughter to review a product that was better suited to younger kids or needed extensive parental support as she might not find it an enjoyable activity.

When I shared my reservations with the team at My Mini Maker, they were quick to reassure me that

“when we have tested it with older kids, they have taken the lead with the activities. There are a combination of written instructions and pictures so it should work well.”

Superhero Craft Kit – Product Review

The team at My Mini Maker know how to bring a smile to any child’s face. First off, they addressed the package to my daughter, so she knew that the delivery was for her. She had the biggest smile on her face and couldn’t wait to find out who had written to her.

She ripped the envelope open and immediately went to work. The only thing she asked me to do was to help her trace her hand print.

Included in the envelope was a bookmark with a little note to her which my daughter absolutely loved. Now she uses it as the bookmark for the middle grade book we are reading together Gobbledy by Lis Anna-Langston.

VERDICT

Definitely a 5/5 product for young and older children. Normally, I believe that there’s always room for improvement but I honestly cannot think of how this simple Superhero Craft Kit can be improved. As there are two masks, it’s perfect for Father’s Day 2021. One for my daughter and one for her dad but I have a slight inkling that my daughter would not want to share it 😀

Last week at school, my daughter’s class were reading Traction man and their home activity was to draw a Superhero or make up their own Superhero story. So my daughter was the Superhero in her own story for school.

Words really cannot explain how much fun my daughter has had with this kit and I hope that the team at My Mini Maker continue to make such lovely products for independent children.

About Kids Craft Activity Kits from My Mini Maker

Creative activity kits for 3-7 year olds that come fully prepared with simple instructions

My Mini Maker provides craft kits with everything you need to just get making. It’s a great alternative to a screen, so you can make lasting memories with your children. Each craft kit comes with four activities and simple instructions to make sure the activities are stress free. Our activities are designed by an early year’s professional, with 20 years’ experience, to ensure they are age-appropriate.

“Our activities help them practice fine motor skills such as cutting, gluing and threading, as well as helping develop children’s concentration. The sensory tray element helps expose children to different textures and develop their imaginations through play.

As parents we know crafting with children can be intimidating. You find an idea and then realise you’ve run out of glue or don’t have enough googly eyes. We take the hassle out of crafting providing you the idea and all the ingredients to make it successfully. Plus, we can ensure that the activity will be fun for your children as we test them all at home with our son Alex. Several activities haven’t made the cut when they’ve been too difficult or not fun enough to keep Alex entertained. That’s the benefit of being parents first, we understand its crucial to make the most of that.”

You can also listen to my daughter reading one of her favourite children’s books on my podcast The Segilola Salami Show whilst wearing her Superhero mask.

About Gobbledy by Lis Anna-Langston

Ever since eleven-year-old Dexter Duckworth and his brother, Dougal, lost their mom, everything has been different. But “different” takes on a whole new meaning when, one day just before Christmas (or Kissmas, as they call it), Dexter finds a golden rock in the forest that hatches into an adorable alien. Gobbledy is smarter than he seems and is lost on planet Earth. Before long, Gobbledy takes Dexter, Dougal, and their best friend Fi on an adventure of friendship, family, and loss―one that requires them all to stay out of trouble, protect Gobbledy from a shadowy group called the Planetary Society, and prepare for their school’s Winter Extravaganza Play, where Dexter has to be a dreaded Gingerbread Man.

Gobbledy is a fun-filled holiday story that adds up to two brothers, three friends, unlimited jars of peanut butter, a ketchup factory, and one little alien far, far from home.

So my daughter totally recommends that you get your own copy of this book. At bedtime on Father’s day 2021, you can both snuggle up and read the book together! Wherever you stop just as your child falls asleep, the bookmark from My Mini Maker helps you remember where you stopped.

Read for FREE a chapter from the Christian non-fiction “Essays on the Christian Worldview and Others Political, Literary, and Philosophical” by Andrew Schatkin

Are you looking for a new book to read? Do you like Christian non-fiction? In this blog post, you can read for FREE a chapter from the book “Essays on the Christian Worldview and Others Political, Literary, and Philosophical” by Andrew Schatkin.

“Essays on the Christian Worldview and Others Political, Literary, and Philosophical” by Andrew Schatkin is suitable for readers ages 10 and up. It is currently available as a paperback with ISBN 978-0761853435. It was published on 13 December 2010 by Hamilton Books.

book cover

Synopsis of “Essays on the Christian Worldview and Others Political, Literary, and Philosophical” by Andrew Schatkin

This collection of essays and thoughts covers such areas as basic Christian thought, which includes traditional family morality and a great concern for alleviating poverty and promoting social justice, political thought comparing the need for a system which includes both socialist and capitalist elements, and the need for values in our society, which has come to emphasize money, power, and greed as philosophical goals and values, though they are not. The book also has thoughts concerning literature, a consideration of what constitutes true progress, the denial in our society of any absolute moral truth, and the substitution of moral relativism as a mistaken ethical system.

Name of chapter: Why I Believe in Democracy

A few days ago when I was browsing at a book store in Penn Station, waiting for my Long lsland Railroad train, I saw a little book entitled: The Future of Freedom, Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad, by Fareed Zakaria. The book and its contents interested me, so I bought the book.

I have no arguments with the author or his publisher, and I owe them both good words for the interest and stimulation the book, on cursory examination, afforded me.

Nevertheless, I found the book deeply disturbing even on mere superficial ex-amination. For example, the author in a section entitled, “Problems of Democracy,” states that Constitutional liberalism is about the limitation of power; democracy is about its accumulation and use. The author then goes on to state that over the past decade, elected governments claiming to represent the people have steadily encroached on the powers and rights of other elements in society.

At another part, the author speaks of the tyranny of the majority, referencing James Madison and Alexis de Tocqueville. At this juncture the author goes on to state and argue that in many developing countries the experience of democracy over the past few decades has been one in which actual majorities have eroded separations of power, undermined human rights, and corrupted long-standing traditions of tolerance and fairness. Later the author states that the haste to press countries into elections over the last decade has been counterproductive.

In a later section, Mr. Zakaria points out that when Americans are asked what public institutions they most respect, three bodies are always at the top of the list: the Supreme Court, the Armed Forces, and the Federal Reserve System. Mr. Zakaria goes on to state that these three have one thing in common: they are insulated from public pressures and operate undemocratically. Mr. Zakaria then states that Americans admire those institutions precisely because they lead rather than follow. By contrast, Mr. Zakaria states, the Congress, the most representative and reflective of political institutions, stands at the bottom of most surveys.

The author concludes that what we need in politics today is not more democracy, but less. He does say we should not embrace strongmen and dictators, but suggests we should ask why certain institutions in our society, such as the Federal Reserve and the Supreme Court, function so well and others, such as the legislature, fare so poorly.

Mr. Zakaria at another point concludes that modem democracies will face difficult challenges—fighting terrorism, adjusting to globalization, and adapting to an Aging Society—and concludes that those with immense power in our society should embrace their responsibilities, lead and set standards that are not only legal but moral.

I have not read Mr. Zakaria’s whole book and hesitate to draw broad conclusions from the excerpts. It would appear Mr. Zakaria seems to suggest that elective representative democracy as government is problematic, unwieldy, and troublesome. He objects to a form of representational legislature, i.e., the Congress, and lauds the Armed Forces and two appointive bodies, the Supreme Court and the Federal Reserve System. He says majority is tyrannical. Mr. Zakaria states we need in our current political system not more democracy, but less, and concludes that those with power should lead.

I find fault with these statements and assertions that our system of elective government and political equality are unwieldy and unworkable and should give way to rule by unrepresentative bodies, and that those with power should guide the course. That they are uniquely qualified to make the right decisions in this critical time for our nation is an implicit, if not explicit, rejection of our democratic system.

I argue here for Democracy and why I believe in this system: First, as to its defects: Democracy is a system of political equality where those over a certain age are given and may exercise the voting franchise. It is a system of political equality in which all citizens over a certain age are empowered and given the opportunity for political participation. This has been misinterpreted, or rather extended, to the point that all people in a democratic society are, in fact, actually equal in their talents and abilities. I am and never will be a concert violinist or nuclear physicist, nor an epic poet, or a leading playwright. I do not think I could be a great actor. In sum, a democracy does not imply actual personal equality, since we all differ in whatever gifts we may possess. Democracy is a system of government operating through political equality. At its best, democracy provides an equal starting point and some equality of opportunity.

Second, the idea that all are equal leads to a second mistake: In democratic societies there may develop what one may call a “cult of mediocrity.” Hence, the desire of most Americans to see in their elected officials and politicians a “regular guy.” This, if one may so call it, “cult of Mediocrity” rejects in a sense any sort of excellence that may distinguish one of us from another; since we are all practically equal, we must be actually so in talents, abilities, and attainments. And so it follows that in a democratic system, a leveling occurs that results in a kind of adulation of the average and mediocre. This is the second failing, if it can be called so, of a democratic system, or it can be.

Yet, all in all, I fully believe in a democratic system of government in which the officials who govern us, our leaders as it were, are subject to the scrutiny of the voting electorate. I do not believe in democracy as merely a form of government because people are actually equal, since that is not true. I believe in democracy, well knowing that power, if concentrated in the few or in one person, will be abused. Power given to one or a few will be abused because on some deeper level there exists an innate corruption in human nature that cannot be evaded, escaped, or eradicated. Whether the abuse occurs in the context of a traditional marriage where one economically dependent spouse is subject to the untrammeled authority of the other, or resides in a CEO with unlimited power over the lives and livelihood of his employees, that power will be abused.

I believe in Democracy because men, if given the chance, are so bad that no man alone can be entrusted with unchecked power over his fellows. I oppose slavery because I fear and oppose Masters. Men, given the chance, will allow their egotism, selfishness, and desire to dominate and to rule. The baseness and corruption of their hearts, given the chance, will come to full flower. Democracy posits that men, far from being equal, are always prone to the blackguard. Democracy distributes and checks power, doing so by a process of elective accountability and a system of checks and balances.

I believe in Democracy not because men are good or because everyone is the same or because everyone is equal. Democracy may not be the best and most effective form of government, but it is the only alternative, since it recognizes that the rule of the elite, few, or appointed will and must be subject to the control of the electorate, not because those few are especially and particularly evil or bad—and the majority are not—but because without controls, rules or limits, they can and will be so. We have laws to control untrammeled, human nature. Without them we are barbarians. Unlimited power in one or few, uncontrolled and unaccounted for, will and must give way to the blackheartedness that resides only slightly beneath the surface of us all.

Democracy envisions not a world of total good and perfection but a world that requires a wide dispersal of control and power in as many as possible, knowing who we are as human beings and what we may actually do.

Are you looking for your next book to read? Do you like Family Saga? The you would love this interview featuring the main character from the novel GOLD! — The Kincaid Saga, Book 1 by Thomas Greenbank.

GOLD! — The Kincaid Saga, Book 1 by Thomas Greenbank is suitable for readers aged 18 as it does have some Coarse Language, Sex Scenes, Drug Abuse. It is published by Tudogz Publishing and is currently available as an EBOOK (ASIN: B08N5ZVMZT, Dec 10, 2020) and a Paperback (ISBN: 0648961109 Nov 28, 2020).

Synopsis of GOLD! — The Kincaid Saga, Book 1 by Thomas Greenbank

Malcolm Kincaid is a self-made man. He is also a ruthless businessman and opportunist. He knows what it takes to build and maintain a business empire, but how far will he be prepared to go to achieve his goals — and what will he sacrifice along the way?

Over three decades, Malcolm Kincaid uses, abuses, and dominates associates and family alike, crushing all opposition in his pursuit of wealth and power.

When he allows the pollution of an Aboriginal settlement’s water supply, however, he faces justice of a kind he could never imagine.

GOLD! is a tale of greed, betrayal, family conflict, rape, and murder. It is also, however, a story of love and loyalty — and of how one man’s pride and prejudice can lead to terrible retribution.

Name of character to be interviewed:

Rachel Kincaid

Why was this character chosen for this interview?:

Rachel is one of the key characters. She plays a central role in most of the story, though she is neither the protagonist nor the antagonist.
She sees the good and bad sides of all the other players and has insight into the character and motives of the others.

Question 1: Now that the story has been told, what do you really feel about Malcolm?

Answer: I’m sad for him. We had some good times, at first. I really think his father was responsible for the attitudes and bigotries he displayed. Malcolm really thought he was fulfilling his father’s dreams. It’s his methods that I’m so dismayed by.

Question 2: And Jamie?

Answer: I can’t talk about Jamie. There’s too much… Too much sadness involved. Please ask me something else.

Question 3: What will become of Kincaid Mining Corporation? Will we hear more about the business and the way it evolves?

Answer: Absolutely! There’s so much more to be told. Lachie and Aretha have a great future ahead of them. Bronte and Iain also. I’m sure we’ll also hear more about the Sleemans as well. There’s likely to be a major change in direction for the company, though. You’ll just have to come back next time and see.

Question 4: If you were to go back in time, would you still make the same moves you did?

Answer: I’d be a lot more careful where Malcolm is concerned. I couldn’t really change much, though, without risking losing all the extraordinary and wonderfully positive things that did happen. If Malcolm hadn’t talked me into going to Kalgoorlie with him in the first place, I’d never have met Jamie. Lachlan would never have been born if…you know…

Question 5: I understand. Any final thoughts you’d like to share?

Answer: I’d just like to thank everyone for coming along for the ride. And remember, there’s always a light side and a dark side to everybody. Ultimately, it all comes down to which side we choose to foster, and which we suppress. Look at Bronte, for example.

Tweet to promote post, MAX 280 characters: GOLD!—The Kincaid Saga. An interview with Rachel, one of the cornerstone characters. #goldthekincaidsaga, #australianfamilydrama, #thomasgreenbank, #behindthescenes

Interview with author Emilie Rawlings

Ever wonder what influences an author to write the book(s) they do? Then you are in luck! Today’s blog post is an interview with Emilie Rawlings, self published author of the Motivational, Health and wellness, Healing book “Foundation: Love. Mindfulness. Meditation.”

Synopsis of “Foundation: Love. Mindfulness. Meditation.” by Emilie Rawlings

This is a book of hope. A book of new beginnings. Are you ready for this to be your year? The year you go from wanting, wishing and hoping to being, doing and having? Excerpt from the book; “I will open myself up to you. You will know my journey, my challenges, and my victories. I will share the tools and knowledge I have learned along the way. I will uncover the simple yet profound truths on which to build the life of your dreams. This is my promise to you. What is the promise you make to yourself? Being open, courageous, and curious is a great place to start. Promising yourself that you will set aside time, and value yourself above all else, is also a great step. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. What is your promise to yourself? Take another deep breath. Are you ready to get started?”

Name of interviewee: Emilie RawlingsWhy have you chosen to come on this interview?:

I am the every day person, who is following a path to discovering and reaching their purpose in this life. I speak about how mentally I hit rock bottom and then how I used that experience to not only get to a better version of myself but to never return to that. I am the everyday entrepreneur who has gotten burnt out from trying to balance a business and life at the same time. In my book we discuss burn out and restoration with self love and care techniques to implement daily.

Question 1: Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and how long have you been writing?

Answer: I spent the first half of my life in the Seattle area, and now call upstate NY my home.

I have been writing all my life. I clearly remember writing an adventure book about a mouse when I was in elementary school. I was convinced it would be published. Think “Secret of Nimh”, meets “The Hobbit.” Since then I have written informally, or in private journals. Last year, I felt I had a book inside of me that wanted to come out. So at that point, my main focus was to create space and time for the inspiration to happen, and the writing to occur.

Question 2: Tell us about your latest book. What do you hope readers take away from it?

Answer: My book “Foundation: Love. Mindfulness. Meditation.”, is a book of hope. It is the story of how I emerged from my breakdown in 2016, into the life of my dreams. I start by sharing my journey into and out of my breakdown. The book focuses primarily on what I learned along the way, and how what I discovered allowed me to reframe myself and allowed me to build the foundation on which I built the life of my dreams. The book provides simple, practical steps that can be easily implemented into one’s life. It has companion meditations, that allow the reader a fully immersive experience of reading, listening, speaking, and writing. My goal is to take the reader on a journey of full integration, so that what they are learning becomes a part of them. These steps will give the reader the tools and practices to either ensure they never experience a breakdown in the first place, or create the safeguards to avoid a future occurrence.

Question 3: Book you’re currently reading?

Answer: I am studying the “Tao Te Ching” to continue my metaphysical learning. I say “studying”, because I am using other sources to help me understand the original text. I also love to escape with books, so besides Self-Help and Science Fiction, I love well-written romance novels with a supernatural twist. One of my favorite series is the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. And of course, the Twilight Saga!

Question 4: Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?

Answer: My book is non-fiction, and the main character is me! What I do is find the root of my breakdown and implement regular Self-Care and Self-Love, to ensure I don’t have another breakdown. I then provide clear and practical steps so the reader may do the same.

Question 5: Where can we learn more about you?

Answer: You can go to my website http://www.emilierawlings.com for the general overview. My book “Foundation” is a great way to get to know me too.

I am having a blast on Instagram right now! You can go there to see what I am doing in real-time (@emilie.rawlings). I am also investing my time on Clubhouse. Connect with me there as I talk about Mindfulness and Self-Care (@emilierawlings). These two platforms are a perfect fit for me and my message right now. Come and hang out!
