Avengers: Endgame Is Not Quite As Good As Infinity War.

Avengers Endgame - Title

Let’s explore this conundrum.

I’ve been struggling with my opinion of Avengers: Endgame for a little over a month. On one hand, the sweeping spectacle of Infinity War demanded an explanation, especially in the face of its punch-in-the-gut ending. On the other, a sequel always runs the risk of not living up to the expectations set by its predecessor.

Then again, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an entirely different beast, so I can chuck that dilemma aside and say with absolute clarity that Av...

The Handmaid’s Tale: Season 3, Part 2 – Broken Things.

The Handmaid's Tale - God Bless The Child - June

I’m gonna get you after I finish this cigarette! I swear it!

As promised, this article tackles the next few episodes of Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale. In the event that you haven’t seen my assessment of the first three episodes, you should click here and read that article first so that you can fully understand what I mean in this particular segment. After all, it’s not a good idea to start a story in the middle!

Without further ado, let’s dispense with the usual and head back into the l...

Blood & Treasure Is A Masterful Adventure.

Blood & Treasure - Title

What a pleasant surprise!

For the longest time, television has been starving for some adventure. Many shows have tried to follow the tradition of classic characters like Indiana Jones, but few have managed to make a mark in any conceivable way. With that said, I believe that I’ve found one on CBS that could change the game for our upcoming summers.

Long story short, Blood & Treasure is one of the finest adventure serials that I’ve ever seen.

The Cast Is Shockingly Good. Blood & Treasure - Danny and Lexi

There’s a ton of chemi...

The Handmaid’s Tale: Season 3, Part 1 – Welcome Back To Hell.

The Handmaid's Tale - Season 3 - Trailer Title

Here we go again.

The first three episodes of Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale recently dropped on Hulu. While I found myself laughing at the past 23 episodes, some tiny part of me hoped that this series would finally turn a corner. As I sat down to watch the opening three episodes, I thought that there might be some glimmer of thought or intelligence in the face of the catastrophic plot holes of the past two years.

Maybe this time would be differe—

Bwahahahahahahahaha! Oh, who am I kidding? T...

The Code May Be Similar To JAG, But It’s Still Decent.

The Code - Title Card

Does this show have what it takes?

Courtroom dramas have a record of excellence, so I felt that The Code might fill that summer-shaped void that is all too often at the heart of television. Initially, I thought that it would be kind of like JAG, which was a favorite of mine in the late 1990s and early 2000s. As it turns out, it’s almost exactly like the show that gave birth to NCIS and its spinoffs, but that’s not a bad thing.

In fact, The Code may be one of the better shows in the genre.

The...

Hulu’s Catch-22 Is A Howlingly Funny Satire Of War.

Catch-22 - Title Card

Boom!

At first glance, I wasn’t quite sure about the creation of Catch-22, but that’s because of the wider culture. Most people in the West tend to think of World War II as “the good war,” so it seemed unfathomable that anyone would satirize the Greatest Generation and the destruction of fascism with the help of entertainment titans like George Clooney and Hugh Laurie. However, I soon realized that the material at hand was at least partially inspired by the real exploits of Joseph Heller, who...

The Handmaid’s Tale Is Nothing More Than Feminist Porn.

The Handmaid's Tale - Title Card

Oh, hamburgers.

Hulu’s adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale has taken on a life of its own. Over the past two years, the “critically acclaimed” drama has won multiple awards, made quite a bit of money for the Walt Disney Company, and has wormed its way into political protests. I never really thought about taking a look at this show, but the trailers for Season 3 caught my attention. With that in mind, I decided to fire it up and give it a shot.

Long story short, I have no idea why this show is a...

Goldfinger Is A Sorely Overrated Bond Film.

Goldfinger - Title Card

Gold is a tricky business.

It has often been said that Goldfinger is the quintessential film of Sean Connery’s tenure. While it is certainly true that the film turned the Bond franchise into a global phenomenon, I think that it’s important to shake off the nostalgia goggles and look at it with a keen eye. With that in mind, allow me to ask a question.

Does this film stand up as something that is worthy of 007?

No. In fact, it may be one of the worst films of the classic era.

Where Are The Cha...

4 Obvious Plot Problems In The Teaser For Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - Title CardIT’S A MOVIE ABOUT SPACE WIZARDS! STOP ASKING COMPLETELY LOGICAL QUESTIONS!

As you are no doubt aware, the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is now online. Like many of you, I got swept up in the initial reaction, but there was just one problem. Every time I thought about what I saw, I had to ask another question about the disastrous arc of the Sequel Trilogy.

So, without further ado, it’s time to share them with all of you!

Is Firefly As Great As Everyone Says It Is?

Firefly - Mal ReynoldsDo we have nostalgia goggles on or are some things as good as we remember?

A lot of people like to be poetic about the shows and movies of the past. With this in mind, I sought to test such a theory with the works that I grew up with, and I could think of no better place to start than Joss Whedon’s Firefly. The space western only lasted for a little over half of a standard season on Fox, but it managed to find a cult following that lasts to this day.

Is it really as good as people think?

Yes...
