Perfect Harmony And Sunnyside Are Astoundingly Unfunny.
No.
The situation comedy has been a staple of television ever since I Love Lucy made its debut on CBS in 1951. While I personally think that nothing can truly replace classics like That 70’s Show, I always like to take a look at some of the latest additions to the genre to see if they can make me laugh as hard as I possibly can. Unfortunately, comedy has lost a lot of its creative edge over the past two decades, and that becomes incredibly apparent when one takes an honest look at Perfect Harmony and Sunnyside.
Lo...

Little Monsters Is An Adorable, Blood-Soaked Masterpiece.
I did NOT see this coming.
Every once in a while, a film comes along that draws one’s attention away from what he or she is working on. I didn’t hear anything about Little Monsters before it premiered last night on Hulu, but I thought I’d give it a chance because we are fast approaching Halloween. Needless to say, I expected nothing more than some light-hearted satire and zombie killing. After all, every genre has to have its staples, right?
I did not think that I’d watch one of the most ador...

BH90210 Is An Unexpected Surprise.
So much of this shouldn’t have worked… and yet it does.
Most of the time, I tend to deplore reboots because they are the pinnacle of laziness. When a studio has to go back to an old property that has languished for well over half a decade (or two decades if you don’t count The CW’s spin-offs), it’s usually a sign that they are looking for a shameless cash grab instead of an interesting and worthwhile story. Since I was only a casual watcher of Beverly Hills, 90210, the possibility that this r...

Bachelor In Paradise Is The Most Hilarious Form Of Torture Ever Devised.
The things I subject myself to for your amusement.
If you’ve been a fan of this website for any length of time, then you’re probably aware of the fact that I rarely indulge in reality television. However, that all changed in the past year when I developed an addiction to The Bachelor. That show’s mixture of corny set pieces and faux romantic idealism is continuously bad, but the people watching is so good that it turns the show into something of a sugar rush. You know it’s bad for you, but yo...

The Matrix Sequels Completely Undermine The First Movie.
What could possibly go wrong?
Before we begin, you should take a look at my examination of The Matrix. It has a few points that you might need to understand in order to get what I’m saying here.
At the time of their theatrical runs, The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions were sometimes derided as one giant mess. While the movies certainly grossed more money than their 1999 prequel, they also created a situation where studios began to split a story that could have been fit into one movie into two...

The Matrix Isn’t Quite As Good As You Remember.
Yeah. This is happening.
The Matrix has often been regarded as a watershed moment in the history of science fiction. At the turn of the 21st Century, hard-boiled action movies were often thought of as little more than popcorn entertainment. While there’s nothing truly wrong with a blow-em-up flick, the Wachowskis changed the perception of the genre by mixing action, philosophy, and breakneck pacing to create a cohesive movie.
With that said, the original film doesn’t quite reach the dazzling...

The Television Adaptation Of Das Boot Is Superior To The Original Film.
I know who these people are! Huzzah!
Before we start things off, those of you who haven’t read my review of the Wolfgang Petersen’s original film should click here. You probably won’t be able to understand my stances here without a look at that one.
With that out of the way, it seems like five and a half hours can make all of the difference between a bad story and a great one. The television version of Das Boot plays with the original film’s tropes in a similar manner, but audiences will get...
Is Das Boot A Great War Film?
This film is critically acclaimed… and I’m not sure why that is.
Wolfgang Petersen’s Das Boot is often regarded as the submarine movie to end all others. The 1981 film is certainly a departure from the norm because it focuses on the exploits of the Kriegsmarine during World War II, but a few other filmmakers have played with the idea of seeing the other side of a war since this movies release. With that in mind, let’s consider this film in a modern context and see if it still holds up.
In my...

The Handmaid’s Tale: Season 3, Part 3 – Get Everyone Out!
Let’s all go shopping. Again.
Before we get started with a look at the last half of Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale, I have to state the obvious. This part of the review cannot truly be understood without looking at Part 1 and Part 2. If you haven’t already read those articles, be sure to click on the links above to catch up.
With that said, why does this piece focus on the last half of the season instead of the three-or-four episode format of the last two? It’s rather simple. Not much happen...

Spider-Man: Far From Home Is A Fantastic Action-Comedy.
I love this movie.
The Infinity Saga may now be in the rearview mirror, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe will keep chugging along for the foreseeable future. These movies almost always make truckloads of cash. However, can this universe actually sustain itself with good stories and lovable characters? If Spider-Man: Far From Home is any indication, the answer is yes.
The movie is an excellent reminder that Kevin Feige knows what he’s doing.
The Cast Is Incredibly Relatable.
Tom Holland is ve...
