Designated Survivor – The Interrogation & The Traitor – Recaps.

Designated Survivor - The Traitor

We are so screwed.

With the return ofDesignated Survivortonight, it’s time to catch up on the past two episodes. One thing I’ve noticed about this show is that very little happens in each individual storyline. While it is still good television, it seems as though one could skip a week or two and still fill up the same space in a particular article. Let’s put that idea to the test, shall we?

The Enemy Is The Enemy, But Not Really…

Five Reasons Why The Hobbit Trilogy Didn’t Live Up To The Hype.

The Hobbit - Title

I love Middle-Earth, but…

It’s no secret that Peter Jackson’s adaptation ofThe Hobbithas taken a lot of flak. Since the release ofAn Unexpected Journeyin 2012, there has been a lot of controversy about why the film trilogy turned out the way that it did. While some might blame New Line Cinema for trying to stretch one book into three movies, there are many different aspects of the writing that cast a shadow over the film series and made it fall short of The Lord of the Rings.

Now that there h...

On The Election Of Donald Trump.

Donald Trump

The election is over. Now, it’s time to govern. Photo: Fortune.com.

Twenty-four hours have passed since an incredible election night, so I thought I’d take the time to offer some thoughts about the 2016 election and what it means for the United States of America. First, I would like to congratulate our President-elect and his supporters on a hard-fought win. From the meme magicians to the people that showed up at the polls, this election showed us how awesome American democracy can be with go...

Designated Survivor – The Mission – Recap.

Designated Survivor - President and CoS

Decisions, decisions…

This week’s episode ofDesignated Survivoris another example of how oddly uneven this series has become. Last week’s episode was an oddly written mess, so I expected to get whiplash fromanother jolt upwards in quality. Little did I know that I would be proven right. “The Mission” is a wonderfully written take on contemporary military operations that calls to mind the raid that took out Osama Bin Laden.

Don’t blame me for making that comparison. It was kind of obvious from...

Timeless May Be Goofy, But It’s An Utter Blast To Watch.

Timeless - Logo

I guess that you could say that this show hit at just the right time.

With the coming of the 2016 television season, there has been announcement after announcement of new time travel shows across most of the major networks. The first among this apparent revival in science fiction is NBC’sTimeless. Situated in just the right place between utter insanity and taking itself too seriously, this show has something for everyone…

…but it’s mostly about the fanboying. Lots and lots of fanboying.

The C...

Five Reasons Why The Arrowverse Kind Of Sucks.

Arrowverse - Banner

Buckle up. This needs to be said.

If you’re familiar with the DC Comics Universe on television, you are no doubt aware that their flagship shows areArrow, The Flash, andLegends of Tomorrow.Along with the upcoming crossovers withSupergirl, these shows form the core of what has come to be known as the Arrowverse. While I was initially fond of the idea of more superhero shows, the franchise has arguably begun to age to the point where lapses in quality and creative storytelling have become increa...

Designated Survivor – The Enemy – Recap.

Designated Survivor - Tom and Alex - Oval Office

Oh, and there’s a subplot about the First Lady and ICE. Eh, who cares?

I promised you another look atDesignated Survivor, but I had to sit with the episode for a little while. While the performances are still great across the board, my misgivings about the gradually expanding mythology seemed to overwhelm a snap analysis of the story. Ultimately, “The Enemy” combines the best pieces of the past few episodes with some scenes that drag things down into the muck.

Ready? Let’s go!

The Investigati...
