Desiderata by Max Ehrmann
click here: Desiderata by Max Ehrmann
Please visit the above link to read the poem, Desiderata (latin for 'things desired'), by Max Ehrmann.
I started a new job this week, and on my first day at work I came across this poem, framed and hanging on a wall in one of the rooms in my new workplace. I wanted to share it. Some of you may already know of the poem as I understand it's quite famous, but the wording is the sort of thing that can be read again and again. I really like it, especially the lines: 'You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here, and whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.'
I was interested to read that the poet was also a lawyer (like myself). This poem didn't become famous until after his death.

I will be appearing as a guest author on Stacy Juba's Blog soon!
Stacy Juba, author of 'Twenty Five Years Ago Today', has invited many writers (myself included) to write a guest blog for her website. I have submitted my piece of writing about a memory from 25 years ago, entitled: 'Memories of the absurdity of youth: The Red Man'. My article will be appearing on her website in a few weeks time. In the meantime, check out Stacy's Amazon Bookstore, here: Stacy Juba's Amazon Bookstore

Donate your unwanted books to a small town library in Cuba, New Mexico
I just read about a small town library in Cuba, New Mexico, that needs more books. I'm going to be donating some of my own books, and am sure that some of you who are writers would also like to do the same, so I thought I'd bring it to your attention.
Also, we all have books lying around that we don't want anymore, so why not send them off somewhere where they'll be appreciated?
Here's the link to the site where you can find all the details: http://www.visualartsjunction.com/?p=...

Update - Author Blog Awards 2010 nominations!
First of all, a BIG thank you to everyone who has nominated me so far!! I have just received an email from CompletelyNovel.com saying that I am one of the front-runners in the Awards nominations so far! You are all so fabulous!
If you haven't nominated your favourite author blog yet, you have until 2nd April 2010 to do so. You can nominate up to three authors! The winners will be announced at The London Book Fair 2010.
It would mean a lot to any author to win these awards because some of the biggest names in publishing are involved. It is a great way to attract the attention of the mainstream publishers to all your favourite independent authors, so I hope you'll nominate your favourites. There are so many wonderful writers out there, and I've nominated three of them, but wish that I could nominate more of them!!
