UK National Short Story Week 22nd-28th November 2010
As a writer of short stories, I am very happy to see that there will be a National Short Story Week in the UK in November to celebrate the short story form.
Short stories are not as popular as novels, I have noticed that when I compare sales of my novels with sales of my short story collections; but I really think readers are missing out if they only read longer works of fiction.
Over the past couple of years I have been reading a lot of short stories as well as writing them, and I think there are so many things to love about the shorter form of fiction.
For one, most short stories can be read in one sitting, they are convenient for people who don't have much time to read and so may be put off starting to read a novel because they think they won't have time to finish it.
Many authors who write novels also write short stories. So if you have a favourite author, why not look up their bibliography and see whether they have a collection that you could try.
Click on the following link for suggestions of short story anthologies you could read:

Or, dare I suggest that you try reading my collections. They're very good —— I should know, I wrote them :)

Love and Loyalty
Let's keep the short story alive.
