Only By The Blood (#guestblogger)

No amount of money
No amount of wealth
Can buy a smidgen of my Saviors love
No amount of fame
Or power we possess
Can preserve a home for us above
No work that we can do
No favor or good deed
Can win eternal life in heavens home
No words that we can speak
Or invention we can make
Can cause our God to overlook our sin
It’s only by the blood
He shed upon that treed
Only by the sacrifice
He made for you and me
Only when you ask the Lord
To forgive all your sin
Only when you ask Him
To take His place within
Only when He is your Lord
And Savior of your life
Only then will heaven be
Your home eternally
No other way to heaven
Has ever been supplied
Though many people think there is a way
No matter what they say
He said He is the way
And that is still the gospel truth today
His blood must be applied
To your life today
If you desire to stay away from hell
Please ask Him to come in
And make your heart His home
Then you will have a story you can tell
It’s only by the blood
He shed upon that treed
Only by the sacrifice
He made for you and me
Only when you ask the Lord
To forgive all your sin
Only when you ask Him
To take His place within
Only when He is your Lord
And Savior of your life
Only then will heaven be
Your home eternally

#FridayFeyDay – Shadows of Confusion -#Teaser
[image error]
.
***An excerpt from Dark Fey: Standing In Shadows, where Mardan and Gairynzvl find themselves, yet again, across purposes; yet in this scene Gairynzvl surprises everyone….***
Getting up from the place near the hearth where he sat meditatively, Mardan fixed his wings with resolute purpose and moved towards the Dark One brooding on the opposite side of the room, yet even as he walked nearer, Gairynzvl turned aside, unable even to entertain the possibility of another quarrel with the quick-tempered Celebrant, but when Mardan reached him, he stood wordlessly for a moment before speaking.
“She cannot help it, you know that.” Mardan reminded him, tempering his own annoyance with Ayla’s perpetual emotional frailty with as much insight as he could manage. Moving closer to speak more confidentially, Mardan lowered his voice to nearly a whisper.
“I cannot comfort her; she will not allow me close to her in the shadows and confusion that have enveloped her. It would seem that you are the only one, at present, who can.” He did not realize what he was saying, but his words rang in Gairynzvl’s thoughts as the Elder’s questions, put to him just days before, resounded in his thoughts.
Will you share your strength of purpose, your tenacity and resilience with her where there are only shadows of confusion? Will you comfort her even when there is no comfort to be found?
Returning Mardan’s piercing gaze, he shook his head subtly, speaking in an equally soft tone so that only he could hear.
“It was not my intention to steal her from you.”

#FridayFeyDay – Warrior – A #Fantasy #Love#Poetry #Collaboration
[image error]
Warrior Fair, Immortal Strong,
Awaken to my every Sense
The Mesmeric Lure of Your Imposing Song;
And Confusion of Sweet Pretense.
Robed in Light from far Glimmering Star,
Bewitch and Utterly Beguile;
Sighs Breathe Deep wheree’er You Are,
Enticed Alone by a Warriors Smile.
Body bathed by Power Bold,
Eyes of Crystalline Blue;
Ethereal Locks of Flaxen Gold,
Draw me ever Closer to you.
Power and Might develop
An Aura of Brilliance Profound;
Zealous Feelings of Love envelop,
Warrior, to you I am Bound.
Sweet the Song of Your Passion, Luring,
My Heart Singing with Emotion True;
One Cerulean Glance, All Trepidation Curing,
Charmed by Devotion’s Blushing Hue.
Entice, Valiant Warrior, Brash and Bold;
Lead and I shall Willingly Follow,
Whisper like Most Precious Gold
And All the World Shall Seem False and Hallow!
In Wisps of Words, I call to thee,
God of Love, your Devotion I Desire;
Enraptured I Fall in Pure Ecstasy,
Conquered, you set my Heart Afire!
My Dearest Beloved, Soldier of War,
Embellished in Gilded Splendor;
Protector of all I have Waited here for,
It is to you my Soul I Surrender.
Golden God of Enrapturing Splendor,
Warrior Untamed by Mortal Propriety;
Temper this Passion with Moments Tender,
And Rule O’er as My Heart’s Own Deity.
For you alone, my Shimmering Wonder,
Are Thoughts Caressed so Valiantly;
Shield my Heart, filled with Love’s Hunger,
Dauntless in your Gallantry.
This poem was written in collaboration with Dorinda Duclos of Night Owl Poetry at http://www.dorindaduclos.com. Dorinda’s poetry is magical, mystical, enchanting, romantic, and entirely wonderful and there isn’t a day that goes by that I do not stop by her colourful world to dip my toes in the River of Imagination with her. She has become a close friend through the wonder of blogging and I am certain this will not be the last collaboration we share. Inspired by the, admittedly, Breathtaking image of this Elven Warrior, we decided to let him lead us wheree’er he wish to take us, and I certainly am delighted we did. With Dorinda’s lovely verses in italics so you can distinguish them from mine, I hope you find this brief narrative as Enchanting as we found it. Thank You Ever So Much, Dorinda; it’s been Splendid!!
**As a side note: this image was also integral in the creation of the Darkest of all Dark Fey; the Imperial Praetor Uxvagchtr, leader of the Reviled who comes into the story in book three of the Dark Fey Trilogy. His domination is inescapable; his words are immediately decreed as law; his demands require urgent obedience and his every thought is of manipulation and exploitation. He is the embodiment of sadistic cruelty and unswerving hatred. His essence is said to be rooted in absolute darkness; there is no hint of the Light left within him and none, regardless of rank or station, ever dare challenge him.

Setting: The Red-Headed Stepchild of Storycraft
It goes without saying that writers’ websites and online resources are essential to the ongoing education of an author. I spend countless hours every month perusing my favorites in search of pearls of wisdom from fellow scribes. Many posts focus on the cornerstones of writing, namely, characters, plot and story. There is also no shortage of blogs and articles to draw your attention to even broader and grander topics, with headlines such as “How to Know When You’re Done Editing,” or “Good Writing vs. Bad Writing.”
Despite the plethora of writing advice circulating online, one particular chunk of storycraft manages to escape attention, to avoid serious discussion: setting.
You just don’t see too many posts dedicated to setting. Rather, this red-headed stepchild of storycraft has evaded serious focus from writing instructors and would-be gurus. In the few cases where setting is mentioned or analyzed, it is done so passively, with little effort given to bolstering its importance.
Due to this communal negligence, many authors overlook setting. Sure, they have settings in their books and novels. After all, what writer will hesitate to tell you where and when their story takes place?
But as a writer, is it enough to know where and when? Or to put it another way, why does a story take place where and when it does? How important is that particular setting to the story?
The importance of setting has come to the forefront of my mind as I think about the impact of choosing the right place for where and when my next story occurs. It is not an issue I take lightly. For experience has taught me that settings, much like characters, have to be cultivated and developed, that they must have a rich backstory and personality all their own.
Consider this example: a writer is crafting a scene, one that takes place in a forest. She could do the bare minimum by writing that her characters admired the green needles of the trees, that the protagonist soaked up the late afternoon sun, etc. Or she could give the setting an extra measure of attention by treating it as a character, a catalyst that provokes reaction and emotion. She could say that in response to the cries of the main character, the wind picked up, thereby bending the branches back from the one crying. Or she could add that the solemn silence her protagonist experienced amongst the tall, dark green guardians of the forest gave her pause and calmed her nerves.
There are many such opportunities for setting to provide a rich layer of context to the mood you are trying to convey, the voice you are striving to develop. Locations and times of the past define our sense of nostalgia or our feelings of regret. The places of the present have the potential to lift or sour our current moods. Those of the future can inspire calm – such as when dreaming about a beach vacation – or dread – such as a green recruit thinking about an upcoming deployment – and every sensation in between.
Whatever the motif or intention of your narrative, a well-developed setting can fortify your writing. Think not of it as an additional exercise in your writing checklist, but as an opportunity to enhance and enrich the trajectory of experience for your characters . . . and your readers. Do not just mention your setting within your story. Embrace it. Weave it in wherever you can. Most importantly, have fun writing about it. Like me, you will be surprised what having a new perspective on setting can do for your narrative.
