September Update 2023
The month of back to school appointments, school information evenings, early morning routines, and the start of rainy school runs is now behind us.
Yes, the chaos affected my writing time, but I did manage about 10k words this month.
I’m looking to do a title reveal soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
Here is a teaser from this month:
Mid month, I blogged about title development. Perfect timing considering my thoughts this month have all been title related.

Book Review: Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

This book is perfect for teen girls. The whole family dynamics storyline mixed with what I feel to be an accurate representation of anxiety makes for an interesting read.
A light hearted book that deals with a serious topic. There is humour mixed in, and a kind-hearted, gentle romance.
More than romance, this book is about friendship, empathy, and overcoming trauma. I appreciated that the actual trauma is never fully revealed because that’s not important to how we process Audrey’s feelings and mental health.

Title Development

Why is it so hard to create a title for our WIP? I think it has something to do with our desires to capture the essence of our story in a short, concise, poetic way and never feeling fully able to achieve that. After all, we have slogged long hours and poured our heart and soul into our work. And do us authors ever feel like we’ve done it justice???
Titling your book baby is just as hard as naming a real one.

Here are my top tips for titling your work:
Don’t title your WIP until you have finished writing it. Some titles come to us by accident as we are writing. Others need that little stewing time. Don’t rush the process.Get an outside opinion. What do your beta readers think of your title. Do you have a writing group you could run a few potential ideas by?Research popular titles in your genre. This is a very good idea from a marketing stance. Plus, readers in certain genres know what to expect from particular book covers, titles, and more.Trust your gut. No-one knows your story better than you. Do you think you’ve found the winning title? Or does something not sit right with you? Either way, listen to your instinct. How do you title your work? Do you find it hard or easy? Let us know!

Book Review: Elodie’s Library of Second Chances

My favourite read of 2023 so far. Sometimes, you just want to read something wholesome and heartwarming, knowing everyone will live happily ever after. This book was that for me.
Elodie is the face a huge media company founded my her parents. It’s not the quiet life she wants, but she does it to keep everyone happy. When the opportunity to save Willow Grove’s library presents itself, Elodie makes the decision to step away from her old life and reinvent herself into the librarian she has longed to be.
There are heartwarming friendships, romance, and a lot of opinions to be changed…

August Update 2023
August was a weird one. A lot happened, and yet, it didn’t. Did you really expect me to get much writing done in the school holidays? Not a chance. I did write, but nothing of consequence.
Like I said, writing fell by the wayside with trying to keep two kids entertained. But, on an important note, Seasonal Writing Prompts is out in the wild!! Thank you everyone who requested ARCs or downloaded copies!
I also had an extra 3 day free promo in the middle of the month. So, that was a double whammy for August on the writing prompt book front.
My blog posts have mostly been focussed on my free promos. Thank you for baring with me with that. Also, thanks to all who shared the promos.
Reading only happened because I had a short book that I had started once before. If I didn’t have time to write, I sure didn’t have time to read. I decided that a short story was better than no story. If you missed my review of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner you can read it here:
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
What’s Next?Hopefully, September will bring my old routine back. Much more writing should happen, so watch out for teasers.
Also, we’ve come full circle with the free book promos, so EVO Nation gets another go in the spotlight.

Book Review: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

It has been many a year since I’ve read the Twilight Saga, and I didn’t even know that this short story existed. I think the appeal has worn off somewhat now I’m well into my 30’s, but needless to say, I think I’d have quite enjoyed Bree’s perspective if she had not such a ‘short’ second life.
Bree was introduced in Eclipse, book 3 of the saga, so it was a refreshing look into her life as a vamp and the whole ‘Victoria’s Revenge’ storyline. This short story is definitely that smidge darker than the saga, which I prefer, and I think if you are an avid fan of Meyer’s work, this book is worth the read.

July Update 2023
July has been a crazy month in regards to the end of school madness, getting into a new routine for the school holidays, and trying to finalise everything for my upcoming release.
So, first things first, my WIP has taken a back seat due to preparing for the upcoming release of my Seasonal Writing Prompts book. Everything is finalised for August 1st!
At the start of the month, I posted an ARC call out for those who enjoy writing prompts. Thank you to those who contacted me. There are still ARCs available if you would like one.
I have also set up a pre-order over on Amazon at a special promo price of just 99p/ 99c. That will increase after the release.
Here’s a little teaser I posted to Instagram…
As I have said, most of my blog posts this month have been related to the August 1st release. However, I did manage to post my ARC review of Brianna West’s upcoming release, Lady of Hell and Fury.
What’s Next? The big release is fast approaching. I would really appreciate all of your support, whether that be requesting an ARC, pre-ordering, or just sharing via social media!
