I knew I was onto something.
I knew the accident was a message.
I didn’t know the scale of what I had discovered until I was drugged, thrown into the back of a military vehicle, and transported through the desert with a sack over my head.
Here, I am.
This must be how I die.
We finally stop, and I am manhandled from the vehicle and chucked onto the dusty ground in a sweaty heap. The sack is ripped from my head along with some hair.
The man towering over me studies me with blatant curiosity. ‘How did little ol’ you unravel the best kept secret of the modern world?’
‘To be honest, I haven’t a clue who you are.’
The man offers me a hand and drags me to my feet. ‘Well, Miss Dean, you are face to face with the World President.’
I hope you enjoyed my writing prompt post. Come back on the 28th of every month for more.

Book Review: V for Vampire Hunter by Brianna West

*Free copy received from author. No obligation to review.
More superb world building of the paranormal kind from West. An easy transition into a different world for readers of her Promiscus Guardians series.
The characters, as always, are endearing, quirky, and suitably sexy. I loved being introduced to the many characters and species in V’s world… Especially, the love interests (no spoilers).
If you enjoy erotic paranormal romance, epic fight scenes, and love triangles (or squares), then this is the read for you.

When my dad died, my cousin, Nicky, took over as head of the squad. He also took it upon himself to look after me, despite the fact there is only three years between us. I think he made promises to Dad, and Nicky is loyal to a fault.
It was Nicky who taught me how to fight, how to use my powers, and how to sense a demon just from the smell in the air. I didn’t understand the risk he was taking in doing so. He always made light of training an underage squaddie, and told me I’d be accepted into the Eden Circle as soon as I came of age.
Now, I’m watching the only family I have in the whole world stand trial for breaking Circle Code, with every possibility of having his memory erased.

Book Review: Who Runs the World? by Virginia Bergin

Such an interesting concept. What if a virus was targeting and killing humans with the Y chromosome? What if male babies were instantly taken away from their mothers to sterile ‘sanctuaries’ to ensure the survival of the human race… to be nothing more than sperm donors?
Bergin explores a world run by women, most of which have never seen an ‘XY’ in their life. The protagonist, River, is one such teen, and her confused, scared, quite frantic POV was intriguing to read.
I wanted a little more from the ending- it felt the conclusion came thick and fast, and I wanted to know more than the epilogue gave me.

Writing Prompt Series Update

In March, I shared with you that I am currently working on a seasonal writing prompt series alongside my fictional WIP. I wanted to update you all on how that is coming along.

Firstly, I have progressed well and have 2 of the 4 books fully completed. I am optimistic that I will have the other 2 finished before Christmas.
Next, come the beta readers. I understand that it’s a little different to beta read writing prompt books than fictional books, so I have some trusted individuals who know what I’m particularly interested in i.e. Theme, similarities etc.
I am still working out how I am going to release the series. I’m leaning toward a single release day, but will keep all books separate. It had been suggested to me to release one book a week, but I don’t think I have the time to focus on 4 release days in a month.
Any suggestions welcome. What release day/ days would you prefer as a reader/ writer?

Welcome back for July’s picture prompt!!

July’s Prompt:
When you are the daughter of the pack’s Alpha certain things are expected of you. The main thing being that you don’t fall in love with someone from the rival pack, the pack who have been your sworn enemies for seventy years, especially if that person is the son of their Alpha.
We didn’t mean for it to happen. A chance meeting and a few drinks later, and I was head over heels in love with Mac Harrison. It’s now a year on and we’ve managed to keep our romance a secret the whole time. But something is about to throw a spanner in the works… my growing belly.

Word Count Challenge Update: Final Week

It’s the final update of my June 15k word count challenge. Not the most productive week, but I think that was because I was pretty confident I could knock out the remaining words needed in the 9 days. And… I did!!!!!
My total word count for all of June was:
17,634 Words!!!!
22nd: 1198
23rd: 550

26th: 605
27th: 280
28th: 436
29th: 501

That’s a grand total of 4,649 words and it took me over the 15k target! Whoop!
Here’s another teaser to round off this challenge!

Welcome back for June’s picture prompt!!

June’s Prompt:
This is not how I imagined it would be. All he had to say was ‘I do’. Two little words I said easily, freely. For him, those two words changed to ‘I can’t’.
An audible gasp rolls around the church. James kisses my forehead before rushing down the aisle and out into the street. All eyes fall on me. My chest heaves, but it feels like no air is getting in. A ringing starts in my ears and I can feel a panic gripping at my lungs.
Alyssa, James’ sister, fills my vision. ‘He loves you. Are you listening to me, Hannah?’ she whispers. ‘Hannah, he’s only keeping you safe.’
Alyssa slips a piece of paper with an address on it into my hand before hurrying out the church after her brother. The address is written in James’ handwriting, and underneath is just two words.
Safe house.

Word Count Challenge Update: Week Three

It’s day 21 of my 15k in 30 days (500 words a day) challenge. 3 weeks in, I’m on target to hit 15k and then some, but I felt I could have done more this week. I had a day of just a hundred or so words, and a day of zero. You know what? The sun was shining, so I enjoyed that with my family instead.

15th: 128
16th: 802
17th: 0
18th: 509
19th: 536
20th: 1145
21st: 975
That’s a grand total of 4095 words this week, and a huge 12,985 since the 1st of June.
I have 9 days to hit 15k! I’m pretty confident at this point. I will check back in on the 30th with the final tally.
I also remember telling you there may be a teaser this week…
