Character Interview: Reed Mercer

I finally get to introduce you to Reed, my second POV in Thrown to The Blue. He is my cutthroat thief, a prince of the streets.

If you want to learn more, download your copy of Thrown to The Blue.

Interview:

How would you describe yourself?

A man who favours loyalty and family above all else.

Are you sure your loyalty lies in the right place?

Ye like to tread a fine line, eh? My loyalty lies where I say it lies.

Do you believe in fate?

Fate, prophecy. I believe my life is tightly orchestrated. All lives are. Ye can nay deny that it was designed that I meet Ezra.

Did you ever doubt your role in her story?

Oh, it is her story, eh? I nay doubted Ezra, so that was enough.

What would you say is your worst trait?

That’s a foolish question. I think traits are a balance of personality. Good and evil lives in us all. Even ye.

Teaser Tuesday

I hold my hands up and admit writing has not happened this week. This week was the busiest of the year so far for us. We had the local Flora day festival my daughter participated in on Wednesday, my son’s Christening on sunday, and his 1st birthday yesterday. I am only now recovering… kind of.

So, this post is based on last week’s writing sessions.

I really hope to get back to my daily writing after today. I kept saying I’ll post my word counts to my Instagram stories, but that will have to start next week now.

Character Interview: Ezrahli

Are you ready to meet Ezrahli, my anti heroine of epic proportions? Thrown to The Blue was my ‘flowing out of my fingertips’ book. I have only a few notes and just rolled with the inspiration. Ezrahli oozed out.

This post corresponds with a free promo on Thrown to The Blue on Amazon. Get your copy today.

Interview:

Is anti heroine a good summise of you?

Well, I am no heroine. Make of that what you please.

Does it bother you that you are feared rather than respected?

I would suggest that opinions of me are subjective. It depends who you ask.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Strong, realistic, and… fragmented.

Fragmented? In a good way?

Is there a good way for such a thing? Shattered through experiences beyond my control. Rebuilt by sheer determination. Now, determination is mine and mine alone.

What would you say is your worst trait?

My temper has seen men killed.

Your best trait?

I know how to get what I want.

Teaser Tuesday

Once again, the bank holiday has me all out of whack. I was thinking my teaser Tuesday post was due tomorrow. Alas, my scheduling is all to cock!

At least I noticed with time to spare.

I’m hoping these teasers are not spoilerific! It’s getting to that stage now in my writing of Zombies and Budgie Smugglers.

April Update

We’re already 2 days into May and I have only just remembered to post this update… Says it all.

May is busy for me. Like, super busy. My little boy turns one, but not before he is Christened. My daughter is dancing the Flora once again. If you have not heard of the Flora dance in Cornwall, google it! So, there is lots of organising for me to sort.

Anyway, I shall let you know how the month of April went…

Writing

As you may already know, I am a CampNaNo winner. Whoop! I wrote a small amount everyday to hit 6k words. I shall continue on with my small targets as this works well for me. I might start posting daily word counts to my Instagram stories.

Blogging

I’m well into my Character Interview posts. Yesterday’s post was an interview with a favourite of mine, Adam Lovick. I hope you are enjoying the posts and getting to know my characters some more.

I haven’t even started looking at the next series, yet. I usually like to schedule ahead of time, but I’m barely getting current blog posts live on time. That’s just life I guess.

Reading

I read nothing! Zilch! I reckon that is a first for me. With NaNo and adulting, reading came last. I’m a bed time reader, but during April I was falling into bed like a zombie.

My current read is Some Kind of Wonderful by Giovanna Fletcher. I might save it for the summer and crack on with some non fiction in May.

Coming Up

There will be a blog post next week explaining a little idea I’m deciding on to do with how I edit. Stay tuned.

Character Interview: Adam Lovick

I’ve been waiting to introduce Adam Lovick to those of you who haven’t read my EVO Nation series.

He may not be the MC, but he is soooo important in the narrative. Adam is one of my favourite characters because he is simply a decent person.

Interview:

Adam, can you describe yourself in just three words?

Loyal, worry-wort, and determined.

Do you think some of your qualities are factors of your intense TORO training?

Qualities and faults; it’s just swings and roundabouts. I’m lucky that I still feel like me after what I went through – what all TORO went through. I wanted to keep those memories as a reminder, and I guess I get the benefit of the training in everyday life.

Would you go through it all again?

To be where we are now, with the people I call family… Definitely. Would I do anything differently? I would save a few more lives. Man, I miss so many people because of the war, but the war itself was necessary.

Describe being EVO in three words.

Can I describe the journey it has taken me on in three words? Self-discovery, acceptance, and obligation.

I also just want to add that I am bloody proud to be EVO.

Teaser Tuesday

It feels a little strange not having NaNo to keep me accountable for my word counts, but no fear, I’m sticking to it. I have decided to post my daily word counts to my Instagram stories from now on.

Anyhoo, you’re here for a teaser, right? I had plenty to choose from this week… thankfully.

I’ll see you tomorrow for my Character Interview post with Adam Lovick. Whoop!

CampNaNo Winner!

I did it! I hit my 6k word target with time to spare. I found the process truly eye opening. I used to think that if I didn’t have time to sit and write 1k words, I would wait until I did as there was no point just typing a few hundred.

How wrong I was!

I wrote approximately 200 words a day, and most days that was all I had time for, but those 200 words a day added up to 6k in the month!!! If I had waited for a time where I could crack out at least 1k words, I would not have 6k written. It may not be much to prolific writers, but with mum duties and adulting, this was perfect for me and I plan to continue this way.

Good luck to those still plowing on with CampNaNo, and congrats to those who have hit their targets already.

I shall be back for July’s CampNaNo with bells on.

Character Interview: King

There are only two important characters in Zombie Playlist, Dagger, the MC you met last week, and King.

King effectively became Dagger’s conscience and reminder of the world before the apocalypse. King is good for her, although she won’t admit it, and I enjoyed weaving him into her life.

Interview:

Describe yourself in just three words.

Friendly, adaptable, and slightly annoying.

How are you dealing with the current state of the world?

You’ve just got to find your little slice of the world and protect it with all you have, whether that be a person or a home. I’m lucky to have both.

You and Dagger are an unlikely pairing. Did you know you’d be in some way significant to each other when you first me

At first, I knew she was my best bet at staying alive. She was tough… really tough. She was also hardened and cold. Dagger just needed reminding of connection and compassion and love. Aķkknd I needed someone to say it how it is. I don’t think unlikely pairing is the right summise… compatible pairing is more accurate..

Name three things that have helped you survived the apocalypse.

My humanity, luck, and Dagger (the person not the weapon).

Wow, what a week. I know we’re already into a new week, but I’m still wandering around like it’s last Saturday. I’ll catch up with myself soon.

Lets get straight on with this week’s teaser…
