June Update
[image error]
June is fast becoming a fleeting memory. Seriously, it just whizzed by. However, my family and I did have a lovely mini break at a holiday park, so thumbs up to June.
Reading
I have been in a reading slump of late, so I chose to read non fiction in June.
I read 3 short books on frugal living/ cooking. I did a 3 in 1 book review that you can find here.
Writing
I’ve still been plodding along with Zombies and Budgie Smugglers. Now that I have signed up for July’s CampNaNo, I know I should be finished (or very close to) by August. CampNaNo is great at motivating me.
Blogging
The Character Interview series came to an end on Wednesday. I have been spending the last 2 weeks, writing and scheduling my next series that will start on July 17th. There will be more on that series in an upcoming post.
What’s Next?
Like I said, I’m doing CampNaNo in July. 9k words is my goal. If things go well, there may be a cover and blurb reveal soon.
I hope to read at least 1 novel during July and a couple more non fiction books. I am behind on my Goodreads challenge, and I can’t stand it.
Stay tuned for my new blog series update.

Character Interview: Stuart ‘Oggy’ Ogden
[image error]
First off, I apologise for not posting my Teaser Tuesday post yesterday. It was my eldest’s sports day, and family came in to watch. You know how it is. I don’t schedule Teaser Tuesday posts in advance as they are based on my recent writing sessions, and this week there haven’t been any of value. I will be back to posting next Tuesday.
On with today’s post…
I promised that I would do a character interview with the main character from my WIP, Zombies and Budgie Smugglers. So, without further ado, I introduce Oggy…
[image error]
Interview:
Hi, Oggy, how would you describe yourself?
I’m polite, true to self, and friendly.
Do you think you are misunderstood?
I guess you could say that. In truth, I think I’m pretty easy to read. People understand me perfectly fine, they can just be cruel sometimes.
Because you’re overweight?
Fat, cosplaying nerd is kinda the gist of it.
And does this bother you?
What they say doesn’t bother me. I don’t see the negative in any of those things. It’s the fact that people think its okay to treat another person as less than… that bothers me greatly.
I can sense you are a man of morals.
I think that being kind and polite is underrated.
How does that ideology hold up in a zombie apocalypse?
You’d be surprised. I reckon it’s not about how long you last, but who you can help along the way. At least, that’s how I see it. If I’m going to go down, I might as well go down the good guy, right?

3 in 1 Book Review
[image error]
Frugal Living: Make Your Money Go Further by Jennifer Mitchell 3/5
[image error]
This book is free to purchase from Amazon Kindle. For a free book, it is a good resource for people who are brand new to frugal living. It wasn’t quite what I wanted as it didn’t tell me anything new, but newbies will benefit from this read.
Pinch Like You Mean It by Dr. Pennypincher 3/5
[image error]
100 tips to save money in this free book. I found some tips I can take away, but most are for newbies to frugal living. I would recommend this book to those just starting out on their frugal living journey.
Side note: some points are tailored to American readers.
5 Ingredient Cook Book by Alissa Noel Grey 4/5
[image error]
This cookbook is right up my street: 5 ingredients for meals I would actually eat, and ingredients everyday folk have to hand, and more importantly, have heard of. Nothing worse than a fancy pants recipe book. This is a cookbook that works with everyday life, kids will eat the meals, and the ingredients dont cost an arm and a leg.

Character Interview: Yana Adamenko
[image error]
Yana is a character from my EVO Nation series. I’m really proud of her character development over the course of the trilogy. When I started writing her character I had no idea where she would end up by book 3… she surprised me.
Interview:
Did you ever think in your wildest dreams that you’d be where you are now?
Never. I am so so lucky to have met my friends. They are my family. This is all very surreal.
Do you think your experience has changed you?
Of course. I am stronger in myself and have a lot more confidence. I like to think that it hasn’t changed my outlook on people, though. There are lots of good people in the world if we only look.
What are your three best traits?
I like to think people see me as friendly, loyal, and a good listener.
What are you three worst traits?
I can be introverted, I over think things, and I can be a bit gullible sometimes.

Teaser Tuesday
[image error]
Hello, I’m back from my 2 week hiatus. I feel relaxed, rested, and ready to crack on with blog posts and writing.
My hiatus extended to my writing too, but I did put a few extra teasers aside before hand.
Stop by tomorrow for the 9th instalment of my character interview posts.

Small Blog Hiatus
[image error]
Just a quick post to say that I am having a small hiatus this week and next from Writerly Bookish Stuff. I am a busy bee, and I am going away for a long weekend with my family this weekend. My husband then has a further week’s holiday from work.
I shall resume with my Teaser Tuesday posts on June 18th. Nit forgetting there are still 2 more Character Interview posts to share on the 19th and 26th.
See you all soon!

Character Interview: Quinn
[image error]
Thrown to The Blue is full of characters I would happily interview, but I had to narriw it down to those I think are vital to the story, and those I just really like. Quinn is one of those characters.
Interview:
I feel like we know so much, and yet, so little about Quinn.
And that’s exactly how it should be.
You are a serve. Do you feel kept in the shadows?
I have to be to a certain extent, but never with Ezra. She would never allow it.
You two have a close relationship?
As close as any 2 friends can be. She saved me. I owe her my life, but she’d never hear of it. We’re soulmates, purely platonic, but soulmates none the less.
Ezrahli is described as an anti heroine-—
She is my heroine. There is no alternative for me. If some think of her as the villain, then they are the villains in Ezra’s story.
Even after this interview, I still don’t feel I know that much about Quinn.
As I said, that is exactly how it should be.

Teaser Tuesday
[image error]
I feel like these posts sneak up on me, and so much for being organised enough to schedule. At least I have teasers to share, right?
I’m currently trying to figure out when to do the cover and blurb reveal of Zombies and Budgie Smugglers. Leave it with me, I’ll have a decision soon.
This is a character I’m adding and developing. I have been conflicted over his name… it’s nowhere near conventional. I love it, but I was worried readers might not. In the end, I do what I always do… I go with what I want as it’s my book, right?

Character Interview: Ray Towley
[image error]
I wanted to introduce you to an antagonist. The best villains think they’re heroes, right? Ray Towley is no different.
Interview:
You have the gift of the gab–
I can talk passionately of that I am passionate about, nothing more.
Right, well, do you think your talent is why people listen to you?
People listen when they like what they hear. Speak the truth, and they will listen.
Truth?
I will not sit and be made to look a fool for your little blog!
I’m just shocked at your use of the word truth.
I know what is good for the country, sometimes, people just need a little help to see it too.
So, you lie to make people see the truth?
Thats it, I’m done. You are totally unprofessional and clearly on a witch hunt. You should be ashamed.
*leaves the room with a slam of the door.

So, that was Ray. I’m sure he spoke for himself in more ways than one.

Teaser Tuesday
[image error]
I think I have about 5k left to write of Zombies and Budgie Smugglers. I know some writers can knock that out in one go, but not me. Adulting and parenting means that’ll take me about 3 – 4 weeks. If I can stick to my daily, short sessions, I hope to be done by mid June.
I have decided to add some characters from this WIP to the end of my character interview posts. A bit of insight into their personalities will be fun.
