Journaling: Why you should do it!
Amanda, the main character in the Being Me series, got her thoughts out on paper as often as possible. In fact, it was such a big theme, I picked diary themed covers for the series. I’ve written in a journal on and off since third grade. Many of us have realized the mental health benefits of writing out our thoughts including clarifying thoughts and feelings, knowing ourselves better, reducing stress, and problem solving. Have you realized journaling actually makes you smarter? Here’s how:Raises IQ: Writing increases vocabulary skills and therefore helps IQ.Mindfulness: Writing helps us connect with our present state.Goal Achievement: Writing signals to our brain that the thought is important, increasing likelihood that goals are achieved.Emotional Intelligence: Processing emotions through writing helps us recognize feelings in others.Boosts memory and comprehension: Writing reinforces ideas.Increases self-discipline: Setting aside a time to write increases self-discipline which can spread to other areas such as exercise.Improved Communication Skills: Writing often translates to vocalization and increases verbal communication skills.Healing: Studies show emotional release from writing decreases anxiety and stress.More Creativity: Writing from stream of consciousness increases ideas.Self-Confidence: Writing about a positive experience reinforces the behavior creating a pattern of self-esteem.
Other ideas for journaling include:
Keeping a record of job related tasks performed: If your write down what you do every day you can go back and find it at a later date.Food and exercise journaling: Keeps you honest and on-track.Lists and ideas: When you’re bored, you always have something to do!
I personally have found that logging my work tasks has been very helpful. Further, I jot down story ideas so I don’t forget them. Yes, I may have a vampire novel stuffed somewhere in my journal!

Drops of Sunshine Cover Reveal
Happy July! - I have been so busy with vacations, holidays, and writing, I've been away for a while! Excited to share with you the Drops of Sunshine cover images! - Ta da!I absolutely love this cover by my talented cover designer Darly McCool of damcoolgraphics right in my hometown of Superior, CO!
Summer is by far my favorite season and I was so excited when Laurie Starkey invited me to write a novella in the Spellbound anthology! Now Drops of Sunshine will be available as a stand alone novella in paperback and Kindle formats! I'll be offering it in Kindle Unlimited, so if you're a subscriber you can read it for free there!
So why release Drops of Sunshine as a separate book? Because this is my first young adult and paranormal story, I felt it deserved to be in a hard copy format! Plus, I love holding a book in my hand. Also, I can offer the paperback version for a fairly modest price! Double smiles!
So if you haven't picked up Spellbound then you only have to wait a week to get your hands on this new release! The story's main character is Nina, a sixteen year old who decides to head to the wilderness for summer break. She takes a job as a counselor at a camp for the blind. (As an aside, I worked at a camp for the sight and hearing challenged and it was an amazing experience.) Nina's hard year has her wanting an escape from all the drama at home. I loved these stories! Each and every one of them were worth reading.. The writing was good, there were no plot holes in any story, I finished this in a few hours! - My favorite was most definitely Drops of Sunshine by Tricia Copeland.. The way it played with my emotions was incredible, especially for such a short story. It really was magical to read.
I will definitely be reading this collection of books again.. Each one made me smile.
A massive 5 stars overall from me for the whole book, also I'd give 5 stars for each authors as I loved them all.

I have been enjoying the talent of several new (to me) writers in YA, while making my way through this anthology. I highly recommend this read for paranormal YA lovers, but also for all readers looking for something new. Anthologies are always a great place to introduce yourself to new writers in the genres you love, but also to introduce yourself to new genres. Some of the stories I enjoyed more than others, but I would say overall none of the offerings are unreadable or unenjoyable. I am giving the overall work five stars for the solidity of the majority. I am a fan of Melanie Rodriguez's previous work, and was delighted by her short story here in Spellbound. Reading Spellbound was a great introduction to some of her fellow YA authors.

This is a YA anthology of short stories from various authors. I don't usually pick up short stories, but the cover and descriptions sounded interesting. They all take a supernatural or fantasy spin, but each of the stories are uniquely their own. From a tale reminiscent of The Little Mermaid, but with the roles reversed and a spin all its own, to a story of animal shapeshifters and ties that bind them to our world, there is something in here for every young adult fantasy lover! I really enjoyed stepping into completely different worlds in one book, like sipping a little fantasy writing from page to page!

I loved the premise of this book May 31, 2016
I loved the premise of this book and how each author wrote their own story and took their own perspective on a paranormal novella. I particularly enjoyed Tricia Copeland's Drops of Sunshine because of her use of pacing throughout the story as well as the plot itself. She was able to make sure the story was coherent without rushing the ending due to the need to make it short. Even though some of the novellas seemed rushed, I did still enjoy all of the stories and how they fit together in the collection.
