Odd Guilty Feelings

I have a really nasty habit of feeling guilty when I'm writing or when I'm not writing enough.

It's just an odd feeling when I think about it. I tend to really only write around 45-50K a month. 30K of which gets published and the other 15-20K is for personal use or fun.

I tried to push myself to 50K for professional writing, but I couldn't. Not by a lack of trying, but more that it feels...wrong?

I also have a bad habit of not being able to go back to my 10K shorts now that my general writing has went to 25K-30K.

I guess it is due to me wanting my readers to get more for their money. And 30K is already asking a bit for 2.99.

It's also part of the reason why I always wait for there to be 3 novellas before I make a bundle.

Of course these feeling are rather silly when I think about it. A Monthly Novella is a fine schedule and overworking and burning myself out would be a terrible idea.

I probably just need to learn to relax more rather than stressing myself out.

I often wonder if anyone would be interested in Trap/Femboy Erotica?

I ask mostly due to my interest in writing a small series for it. However, most of my work is Hetero in nature and I don't know if it would do well with the 'small' fanbase that I do have.

It would mostly like stare a male lead making pacts with a feminine incubus. Think Lord of Dusk but with males.

Writing is weird, since while I love doing it, there is so many hours in the day. I already have three passion projects on the backburner and while this would be really fun to write I also know it might not sell well.

Guess you could say I'm somewhat asking if anyone would be interested in this short novella series. I probably won't get to it anytime

My general thoughts about Chronicles of Eden

Chronicles of Eden - Act 1 Chronicles of Eden - Act 1 by Alexander Gordon

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

So, I will say that I never left a review for this story, mostly because I didn't feel like I could really describe it in words. I may have gave it a slightly lower score, probably 2 stars if I didn't know what went into making it.

I will echo a log of the same complaints that a lot of other review and say it is repetitive. A lot of scenes tend to repeat over and over again. The girl draws her sword, the witch does something and then it repeats.

Those scenes could have been cut and you could have trimmed down at least 50 pages because of it. But moving on to a much larger issue with this novel, the world building and characters or rather lack there of.

What are the characters hobbies? No seriously, the only one that we get even a vague understanding of is Daniel. Even then it is the most basic of understandings, we don't get to enter his thought process or fears. He just wants to do the right thing because...it's the right thing to do.

The sad part is that Daniel gets the MOST characterization. The other characters fare far worse, mostly simply existing to fawn over him. This reaches a head in the middle of the book where nothing happens but the girls fighting over him, trying to make each other look bad etc.

Triska is easily the worst character in the book. She legit has not motives out of wanting to get Daniel's dick, and she isn't even supposed to be a monster! She comes off as needlessly catty and it feels that the only reason she is on this quest is because he is on it.

We don't get much insight on her character or motivations past the prologue and her wants never conflicts with anything besides the witch's and that is just wanting the penis.

The Witch is, alright. She is classified under monster and while she is certainly bait at least she is consistent and made for those types of fetishes in mind. Sadly that is all I can say, due to the single mindedness of most of the monsters it doesn't move past that.

A solution might have been instead of being sex crazed, monsters view sex as something done casually for enjoyment or breeding similar to a handshake or watching a movie. That and actually have SEX scenes. Having Daniel actually make contact with the different women and experience sex with each of them and getting to know them would have been more interesting.

Take Triska for an example of this, since she is human she sex as something that two people do when they care about one another. This could be in stark contrast to the other girls who does it for enjoyment.

That could have been a far more interesting conflict ball than just chasing after who is going to be Daniel's first.

This book is already rated NR-17, but yet I barely think it should be rated PG-13.

This isn't getting into the pacing issues, the story starts with a decently large info dumb, because they hurriedly start the quest. Then the story just skids to a halt, it takes them over half of the book for them to even reach the first town. This causes a knock on effect.

Since we don't get to see too much of the world in this first novel it feels empty almost.

Now enough of that, now moving on to the good points. I actually like the generally character designs of the monster girls. They are a bit generic, but they are attractive enough. While I'd love to see more actual monster parts and animal characteristics they are cute.

The Prose is alright, nothing bad. It is more hampered by the repetitive nature of the story rather than the writing itself.

I really thought about giving the story a 3 star, but I couldn't really do it. How I tend to grade things is I give a 1 to books that are just fundamentally broken in terms of basic story structure and knowing what's going on.

2 stars to books that are fundamentally broken story wise. Whether it be plot holes or horrible pacing issues.

And 3 stars to books that I enjoyed, but there was some nagging feels here or there despite my general enjoyment.

I just think Chronicles of Eden is too broken in terms of pacing and characters to get a 2. Which frustrates me a bit, since I write for a monster girl genre as well and I would love to see more stories take a slightly more serious route with the world.

Perhaps they do get better as it goes on. I may check out the next book later if I get curious. I bought this book awhile back, but lost the file so I ended up rebuying it right quick so I can leave a verified review.

Chronicles of Eden - Act 1

To add upon this, I really don't want people to think I dislike the author or anything like that. Quite the opposite, I think he is an awesome guy and he has helped me a lot.

In fact, I implore people to go out and read more of his works and stories to make their own judgement. Just that this book really wasn't for me, but I could have seen myself enjoying it a few years ago.

Why I moved away from Those who Love Monster Girls, to Monster Girl Carnival

A few of my readers probably wondering why I stopped working on Those Who Love Monster girls.

Those Who Love Monster Girls Those Who Love Monster Girls (Bundle) by Heidi Fisk

To Just start writing a similar series with Monster Girl Carnival.

Monster Girl Carnival: Book 1: Living with Oni Monster Girl Carnival Book 1 Living with Oni by Heidi Fisk

It wasn't that I got tired of the series or anything like that. Rather it was just easier to write an Anthology series rather than an ongoing one.

While I loved writing for the series, the cast of characters and setting started to balloon to the point it was hard to keep track of everything.

Over 20 different girls were introduced and keeping track of all of it was quite the feat, even more so due to it being erotica.

Monster Girl Carnival, each novella is a self-contained story. This allowed me to build characters and relationships easier as well as change the situations.

Despite saying all of that. I will probably be writing one more Novella for Those who Love Monster Girls in the near future. It was the series that made me somewhat popular and I wanted to give it at least a proper ending down the road.

My First Ever Blog Post

This is actually my first ever blog post. I had never actually started one before, but I heard it was a good way to reach out to potential readers as well as keep everyone updated on my current status of what I was writing.

Despite all I have already written I was never good at marketing or reaching out to readers. I really want to change that.

So maybe I'll start with a link with a series that I'm most proud of in a way, even if it's not my most popular.

Lord of Dusk Compilation: Books 1-3 Lord of Dusk Compilation Books 1-3 by Heidi Fisk

So much of this series is based of my hometown and my thoughts at the time. From the seaside location to the main characters wandering thoughts
