My Butt!

Okay, not *my* butt.

Author Jim C. Hines has a wonderful post on his blog about book covers and how the women on fantasy covers are portrayed.  His (hilarious) approach to modeling the poses includes the cover of my book, MAGIC TO THE BONE.

He also makes some very nice points that I think are worth discussion.  I didn't know Jim was going to use my book, and only found out about the post (but not my "contribution" to it) on Twitter.  I've never met Jim in person, but back when I was using Live ...

What's up, January?

Happy New Year, everyone!!

I'm starting off the year a bit behind in most everything since my computer crashed and burned about two weeks ago rendering most of my electronic life difficult to access.  I am now the happy owner of a new computer, and am setting up even more back up processes. (I didn't lose documents, thank heaven, but email may be unrecoverable. I did have some important correspondence and documents in my email.  There is a slight possibility it can be recovered, but I won't...

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and happiest of holidays to all!

As a little treat, I wrote a quick Christmas scene from the Allie Beckstrom novels.  This is literally hot off the keyboard, which means it is also typo-tastic.  Please excuse my rough edges.

This scene happened somewhere between MAGIC IN THE SHADOWS (book 3) and MAGIC ON THE STORM (book 4).

I hope you enjoy!

Title to Share

Hey!  How have you been?  I've been working and juggling holiday craziness and drinking too much coffee.  So, you know…normal.

And now I can share the title for book #9 of the Allie Beckstrom series.  Ready?

MAGIC FOR A PRICE

The series list in order is:

…and MAGIC FOR A PRICE

It's sort of crazy and amazing to look back on these covers and think that the first book came out almost exactly three years ago.  I feel so very lucky and happy to have had the chance to write these books, and am a little ...

Jack Frost Proof

We had the lovely adventure of our furnace breaking this week.  It was below freezing outside, and pretty darn cold inside.  In my last blog post I joked that maybe I'd knit something to keep warm.

And I did.  Took me 45 minutes or so, while waiting for kid youngest at an appointment.  Want to see?

(Please excuse my messy hair, and generally un-done-up look.  Was cold and tired when snapping photo)

NOSE WARMER!

Take that, Jack Frost! You ain't nipping at this nose!

December 6, 2011

Hello, December!

I know I've been a little slack in my blogging, and I'll do what I can to pick that up, starting with this Post Of Listiness!

Writing:I am currently working feverishly to get the 9th book in the Allie Beckstrom series done before the beginning of the year.  For those of you keeping score, I am not even halfway into the book yet.  That means I'm gonna be a hardworking mama this holiday season.  But the book is outlined and I am SO excited about how I think it's going to turn out.  I have some...

Cover TIN SWIFT

I was going to wait a couple days before revealing the cover of TIN SWIFT book 2 in the Age of Steam series, but I see it's been announced over on Tor.com so I'm going to post it too.  Here you go!

The artist is Cliff Nielsen, and I think he's done a fabulous job of capturing the speed and movement of the book.  TIN SWIFT reads fast, and is filled with action, adventure, danger, and humor. (Yes, there's still darkness in it, like DEAD IRON, but the book carries a lighter, faster sort of...

My Dear Watson

Last month I went a little overboard and knitted up a bunch of silly stuff in the week before Halloween.  After I got that out of my system, I decided to tackle a different sort of project.

A couple months ago I saw the trailer for SHERLOCK HOLMES 2, and noticed Watson (Jude Law) was wearing what appeared to be a hand-knit scarf.

Click here for Sherlock Holmes 2 Trailer

(close up on the scarf at :37)

Some still photos:

I loved it, and wanted to knit it.

It took some research, a lot of staring at...
