Art and Archives
So I was scanning Facebook the other day and look what I found linked to my wall:
Fan art! May I present to you, Allie Beckstrom by Christina Godek.
That, my friends, is *awesome*!! I love the swirls of magic that reach all the way up to her forehead. And the coffee cup–perfect! Thank you, Christina! I love this!
In writing news, I am on deadline to get some material over to my editor by Monday so they can begin putting the cover and back cover together for the last book in the Allie...

Three Quick Notes
1. Reminder! I will be chatting live over on Purlsonline tonight at 6:00 PST. I'd love to see you there! Come on over, ask me questions, hang out, and watch how many typos I can rack up in an hour.
2. My publisher has this cool feature on their web page called The Author's Desk. I've enjoyed reading it for awhile, and was thrilled to have a chance to contribute. If you want to read my little post about magic, and why I seem to have such a thing for it in my writing, check it out here.

MAGIC WITHOUT MERCY – Cover
First….
I will be live chatting over on Purlsonline this Thursday, November 17th at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. And while I have plenty of voices in my head and could probably just type "out loud" with them…I do that every day. So I hope some of you will stop in and hang out with me!
And second…..
What do you think of our girl, Allie here? A little sad, a little angry, and a lot ready to kick ass?
This is book 8, and will be out in stores April 2, 2012.

And Then There Was Shame
What a fun weekend! A big thank you to OryCon, and to everyone who came to panels, attended the Endeavour Award ceremonies, and shared in the love of science fiction, fantasy, and horror via costumes, music, writing, reading, art, films and crafts.
My short story collection: A CUP OF NORMAL was a finalist for the Endeavour Awards. The lovely Mary Robinette Kowal read a selection from each piece on the ballot. When my excerpt was read, I was so happy to hear the audience laugh in all the...

Keeping up with Devon, part 1
MAGIC ON THE LINE is over on Tor.com today as a Barnes& Noble Bookseller's Picks.
My awesome editor Anne Sowards wrote an introduction for the blog post, which is followed by a juicy excerpt from the book.
Check it out: Click here.
I will be at OryCon over the weekend, and I'll do my best to post updates and pics. If you want to keep up with me, be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter.
Think I should wear the Spock Hat?

Countdown to Sweet Victory
This is a post I put up on the Deadline Dames a couple weeks ago. Since NaNoWriMo is in full swing, I thought it might be worth reposting it here. If you want to see the original version, different only in that I complain about my messy desk, you can find it here.

No matter how many things I jot down, cross off, or highlight, I always keep two things open and ready just to the right of my keyboard.
A legal pad of filled with numbers, and a pen. Those two things, my friends, are my...

Happy Monday Things
You know when something happens and every time you think about it you smile? I had three of those kinds of things happen today.
The Happy Three:
1. My editor told me Magic on the Line is ranked:
#12 on Barnes & Noble's science fiction/fantasy mass market bestseller list
#48 on Barnes & Noble's overall mass market list
Thank you, readers! You put the book on that list by buying it and reading it. You are THE BEST!!!
2. I found out Publishers Weekly's Genreville (Rose Fox) listed DEAD IRON as an...

Knit Long and Prosper
I've probably mentioned here that I knit for fun and for stress relief, right? Well, I've been a little stressed out about my seventh book, MAGIC ON THE LINE coming out, and also about turning in the second steampunk novel, TIN SWIFT.
I've probably proved how stressed I am by showing you this Halloween costume I knit:
And this Halloween hat I knit:
But now I'm going to prove what a big ol' geek I am. This Halloween, I also knit this:
Yes, that is a Spock Hat. You just can not get any old school ...
