Real Life Proof That We Cats Have Achieved World Domination

This is my World Domination face

Thank you so much for all of yesterday’s birthday wishes… but what pleased me even more was how much everyone embraced Cat World Domination Day! As most of us know, we cats have dominated the world for a long time now (some would argue that with a break here and there, we have been in charge since ancient Egyptian times), but yesterday proved that we are owning this truth.

Want more proof? I present the following:

Tardar Sauce, our very own Grumpy Cat, has signed a movie deal.

Cats are running for public office in ever-increasing numbers. The latest is Morris, a black-and-white kitty who is running for mayor of the Mexican City of Xalapa. I am looking forward to 2014, a semi-big election year for the U.S. I expect to see several new feline members in the House of Representatives.

Have you noticed that there is a TV show called My Cat From Hell and books with titles like Outsmarting Cats , but then you take a look at them and realize they are all about changing human behavior?

Cat video festivals are spreading like crazy! So far this year Boston, Memphis and Austin have all had them. There were two in California. Minneapolis is having its second one in August. There is even a cat video awards show — the Friskies!

Two words: Lil Bub

Got any more important cat news that shows our world domination?

Celebrating Cat World Domination Day (and a Giveaway)!

Did you notice the card in the background that says Super Kitty?

Happy Cat World Domination Day (also my eleventh birthday) and welcome to my celebration! A couple of humans noted that cats dominate the world all year round, not just on one day — and they are right! But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a day that acknowledges our rule! Does Mother’s Day mean there are no mothers the rest of the year? There you go! So with that taken care of, let the festivities begin!

Remember to chew the decoration!

We are serving iced nip tea! But I have to warn you to be careful about how much you drink — they pack a punch!

Catering really outdid themselves with this!

Also, you will want to enjoy the appetizer: albacore tuna salad on a bed of fresh nip leaves, right from my garden!

I'm not even the biggest tuna fan - and I loved this!

Dig in!

I hope I have enough for all the guests!

Before the main course, feel free to work up your appetite in my box jungle! It will be here all day, so come and go as you please!

The biscuit makes it extra tasty!

I think you will love my fun, casual main course. It is pulled chicken on biscuits! So tasty.

She is disappointed these are for guests only

I know some of you kitties don’t much like “people” type food, so I also have a selection of rare, gourmet cat food — flavors like pheasant, buffalo, and black forest rabbit!

Cake for my birthday is coming up, but first let’s have my two awesome giveaways!

It is very stylish!

First up, for my U.S. readers is this Kitty a Go-Go fancy litter box! My human actually won it at the Cat Writers Conference last year and she was going to donate it and never did… so I asked if I could give it away on my blog!

My human also saw these at BlogPaws

It is really very cute, and designed to be easily cleaned so your humans don’t hurt your ears with their complaints! If you want to know more about these litter boxes you can go to the Kitty a Go-Go website, but right now, here is where you can enter:

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Boodie is a little sad she did not get to play with these

Because shipping on the Kitty a Go-Go is so hugely expensive, it is open to our U.S. readers only, but don’t worry, I have a giveaway for you international readers too! I had my human fill this box with some very fun toys! And only international readers are allowed to enter this giveaway below:

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Both giveaways end Sunday night, June 30, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Because my human is spending what she calls “a fortune” on shipping fees for these giveaways, I did not think I was going to get any birthday presents this year. I was okay with that… but then I got a surprise box from EntirelyPets! They gave me these fun toys to review, which I will be doing over the next few weeks!

My human is off the hook... for now

I can review one thing right now… the box is very cool!

It is the perfect size for small cats like me

Now, it’s time for cake!

I've been waiting all day for this!

It is layered Maryland crab cakes with crème fraîche frosting!

I am Sparkle and I approve this cake!

I wish I could eat like this all the time!

It is okay to make a mess! My human will be HAPPY to clean up

Enjoy! And in the spirit of Cat World Domination, I am going to devote much of this week to looking at ways in which we kitties have taken over!

Note: link to EntirelyPets is an affiliate links — we gotta cover those shipping costs somehow!

Sunday Catinee: Big Cats and Catnip… the “Science”

Sparkle's Sunday Catinee

A while back, Big Cat Rescue featured some of their tigers, lions and leopards enjoying catnip. Apparently some humans argued that there was no science behind the claim that these big guys did, in fact, enjoy the nip. So to placate the naysayers, they threw another nip party for their charges… in a more scientific vein. Well, not really… check it out:

Photo Hunt: Daydream

Lost in a daydream...

There is nothing better than daydreaming in a summer sun puddle.

And what does a kitty daydream about, you may ask? Oh, lots of lovely things, like catching lizards, and eating them. Hunting for fluffy moths and crunchy crickets. Not just whapping Binga, but actually whapping some sense into her! And dreaming of a world without cameras.

Fellow felines, what are your favorite things to daydream about?

In Which I Go to Work (Like I Do Every Day)

Did you know that today is National Bring Your Pet to Work Day? If you go to the Pets @ Work site from Purina, you’ll see it is mostly dogs, but I want you to know that this kitty goes to work every day! It helps that my human works at home. So I thought I would show you one of my typical business days!

It's okay - my human ignores the alarm too

On this particular day, I must confess — I overslept! My human was already up and dressed and I was still in bed.

I am so glad I don't have to deal with rush hour!

Eventually I got up and was ready to get the day started. Fortunately, our commute isn’t too long, although it is on the opposite side of the house. We have to walk down the hallway, through the dining room and entry way and up the staircase to the living room. Our office is off the living room (which is where many of the photos of me, Binga and Boodie are taken).

When my human is really slacking, I will stand on the back of her chair

Here I am, ready to get down to work! As you can see, there is a lot to do.

She is not a very good employee

The morning has barely started and I am already annoyed at my human! Just wait until you see what she has done.

An eBook must look good on ALL devices!

She let the battery on this Kindle die! All our devices need to have full power at all times so I can do a quality control check on my upcoming eBooks across the platforms. I want my books to be as readable on this older Kindle as they are on the Kindle Fire.

Multitasking? No prob for this kitty!

After this careless mistake, I decided to take matters into my own paws. Here I am checking the stats for my blog. Even though I look at Google Analytics, it only updates once daily. So I check on one of the other stat sites to make sure my latest post is getting enough traffic. I am also on an important call via Skype.

Don't tell my human that she shreds more than she files!

The dirty little secret to my post is that this desk is never as neat as it looks here! My human grabbed all the stuff that was littering our desk and dumped it in a box! We left it for Binga to file.

I think all kitties should help their humans at work! Or even better, they should be like me and be the boss! For more information on making your pet part of your workplace, check out the Pets @ Work Program.

Namaste Thursday

This yoga mat is wasted on my human

Does your human do yoga? Mine does, and boy is she terrible! She is not flexible and graceful like I am. I try helping her by rubbing up against her during poses like Downward Facing Dog and Pigeon, but she does not appreciate my help. Which is very dumb of her, since all cats are natural born yogis. And I don’t even have a mat to practice on — I’ve been doing all my poses on the rug and scratchers!

A bag AND a gift!

Well, all that changed a few days ago when I got an early birthday gift from my friend Pippy!

I can't wait to do Shavasana on this!

It’s my very own Yoga Cat Mat!

This pose keeps her youthful!

Do you kitties know Pippy? If you don’t, you really should meet her! She is a yoga master, which means she is even more experienced at yoga than most kitties! Look above — her Lioncat pose is amazing! Pippy is the head of the Feline Yogi company that makes Yoga Cat Mats like the one I received. She also has a blog, in which she enlightens kitties and humans alike!

Her one-pointed focus is amazing

Here she is doing no-legged loaf pose on one of her very own yoga mats.

I think I am trying too hard

That pose is harder than it looks — as you can see, my form needs work here! I’m glad I have this mat to practice on now! It is also great for scratching on, or relaxing or playing on. There is even a catnip-filled twine ball to help you reach higher planes of consciousness.

She is a trouble master

It is even fun for kitties who aren’t into the discipline of yoga.

I am doing upward-facing kitty

And guess what? Pippy is offering a generous 20% discount on these awesome Yoga Cat Mats at her Etsy shop! Just go to the Feline Yogi Shop and use the code SPARKLE101 to get your discount. This discount is good until July 3, 2013.

I love my Yoga Cat Mat!

Every cat should have his or her own Yoga Cat Mat! They make awesome gifts too!

Treats on Tuesday

Somebody here has hungry eyes... and it isn't me!

I got some treats to try out from the Chewy humans! My human had to lock Binga up downstairs because she goes crazy around treats and I wouldn’t be able to get a paw in with her around.

Nobody here but me and my shadow

I am beginning to think she is not the only cat who should have been locked up.

They passed the taste test

Anyhow, these are the Natural Balance Perfect Bites treats that a lot of you other kitty bloggers have been giving a try. Since it seemed like most of you kitties chose the salmon flavor, I decided to be different and pick the chicken. I am a big fan of chicken and I loved these treats! And as you know, I am famously picky. My human is picky in a different way and she was happy that there was no corn, soy, wheat or artificial stuff in them. They also have just one calorie a piece… although my human would not mind if they were high calorie, since I only barely eat enough. Don’t worry — Boodie eventually got some.

Treat hog is in the house!

And so did Binga.

Note: I was comped these treats by Chewy.com but my human received no other compensation. All opinions are my own.
