My Struggle (Sonnet 1500) | Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
My struggle is to build a world, where
gestapo, mi6, cia, raw, all are history;
where thieves aren’t glorified as heroes,
invasion isn’t sugarcoated as security;
military is found only in books of history,
where guns are displayed in museum as relics;
nukes are just defense against celestial threat,
where green sources power all things electric;
where it’s illegal to amass limitless wealth –
food, housing, education, healthcare, are free;
where no one can be politician without license,
where citizens listen to experts, not celebrity.
My struggle is to build a world, where
human rights is a human issue, not legal one;
where equality is not a belief, but the norm –
where human is neither ape nor robot, but human.

If you can’t utter a single word without parroting second-hand thought, my phone deserves more attention than you. Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
If you can’t say anything but
my religion says this,
my religion says that,
I got no interest in hearing you.
If you can’t say anything but
science says this,
science says that,
I got no interest in hearing you.
If you can’t say anything but
philosophy says this,
philosophy says that,
I got no interest in hearing you.
If you can’t say anything but
psychology says this,
psychology says that,
I got no interest in hearing you.
If you can’t utter a single word
without parroting second-hand thought,
my phone deserves more attention than you.
But grow up and muster one original idea,
I’ll put aside my writing to listen to you.
my religion says this,
my religion says that,
I got no interest in hearing you.

Honor and Love (The Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
I don’t care for one time fling,
Got no hankering for casual coitus.
I am a human, not baboon set free,
I don’t consent to rampant desires.
When I fall I fall mind and body,
Body plays a little, more the mind.
I’m attracted to face, not figure,
Finally by mind the deal is signed.
If the mind doesn’t come through,
a cute face doesn’t sustain nothing.
Heart anemic makes the world anemic,
getting drunkly sick on perverted fling.
In a world of cheats and perves,
Be the proof of honor and love.
In the wild of sharks and wolves,
Be the gentle elephant, be a dove.
Got no hankering for casual coitus.
I am a human, not baboon set free,
I don’t consent to rampant desires.
When I fall I fall mind and body,

Every Religion is Right Religion (Unscriptured Holiness Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
Islam* is not the right religion, *peace is.
Christianity** is no right religion, **kindness is.
Judaism is not the right religion, equality is.
Sanatana isn’t right religion, nonsectarianism is.
All scriptures are blasphemy, when peddled
as exclusive, infallible handbook to divinity.
Literature that demands rejection of backbone,
is a lot of things but not material of sanctity.
Every religion is right religion, or none are;
Claiming exclusive rightness all breed cowards.
Every faith is an attempt at divine, or none are;
Claiming monopoly of truth faith forfeits regard.
By saying your religion is the only right religion,
you only prove, your religion is the wrong religion.
Religion as an excuse for separation is always wrong,
till you transcend religion, all faith is delusion.

Everybody is king kong,

Dear li’l governments (The Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
Dear li’l governments of the world,
You don’t have a friend in me,
If people are not your priority.
You don’t have a friend in me,
If you thrive on inequality.
You don’t have a friend in me,
If you’re partial to one religion.
You don’t have a friend in me,
If you’re founded on nationalism.
Dear li’l governments of the world,
If you know what’s best for you,
Walk the course of integration.
If you choose tribalism instead,
In me you’ll find your abolition.
You don’t have a friend in me,
If people are not your priority.
You don’t have a friend in me,
If you thrive on inequality.
You don’t have a friend in me,

Contract Matrimony (The Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
When I fall, I fall wholly –
without a safety net of any kind.
Prenups are an insult of love,
all in fear of an imaginary night.
Contract lovers are worse
than contract killers,
at least contract killers
don’t second guess their motive.
Either love or don’t,
there’s no second guessing –
either marry or don’t,
there’s no contract matrimony.
Prenups are for juveniles,
Clauses are for cowards.
To seek escape in commitment,
is an act of con, not love.
Escapists have no right to love,
Lovers have no need for escape.
When you change exes like socks,
It’s a sickness, not a choice.
without a safety net of any kind.

You are the gospel you need to read. Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
You are the gospel you need to read,
You are the path you need to walk.
You are the torch you need to light,
You are the voice you need to talk.
You are the sight you need to see,
You are the thirst you need to quench.
You are the warmth you need to wear,
You are the drought you need to drench.
You are the muck you need to mend,
You are the wrong you need to right.
You are the storm you need to brave,
You are the fate you need to write.
You are the path you need to walk.
You are the torch you need to light,
You are the voice you need to talk.
You are the sight you need to see,
You are the thirst you need to quench.

Burn so bright that the sun gets fried! Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
Burn my friend, burn,
Burn so bright that
the sun gets fried!
Shine my friend, shine,
Shine so bright that
Rudolf goes blind!
Smile my friend, smile,
Smile so pure that
flowers shy away.
Love my friend, love,
Love so drunk that
Rumi himself lays the way.
Fly my friend, fly,
Fly so fearless that
Tagore himself honors you.
Live my friend, live,
Live so unchained that
time makes gospel of you.
Burn so bright that
the sun gets fried!
Shine my friend, shine,
Shine so bright that
Rudolf goes blind!
Smile my friend, smile,
Smile so pure that

Bereavement Sermon (The Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Dervis Vadisi: 100 Promissory Sonnets
You don’t find a way out of grief,
You embrace it and it becomes your strength.
You don’t find a way out of suffering,
You surf it and it endows you with courage.
Avoiding sorrow you won’t find happiness,
Road to happiness goes through sorrow.
No matter how dark life seems tonight,
without heartwrecking darkness, we’ll
never discover resilience, and grow.
Amidst the grief none of this makes sense,
I’ve felt it first hand this past month.
So I say, it’s okay to be shattered to pieces,
but you must gather the pieces and soldier on,
for the sake of your living loved ones.
It’s okay to not be okay, it means
your mind is trying to heal itself.
Persevering pain for those who live,
the sun will rise once again.
You embrace it and it becomes your strength.
You don’t find a way out of suffering,
You surf it and it endows you with courage.
Avoiding sorrow you won’t find happiness,
Road to happiness goes through sorrow.
No matter how dark life seems tonight,
