That's it. Classes are over. I got a hug, letters, a found poem, and I even hit the rock. I've also got lots of papers, chapbooks, and scripts I still need to grade. Phooey.
Tomorrow I fly south. Stay-tuned.

In the last week and a half I was lucky enough to meet poets (at UC, Stain of Poetry, and the Ohioana Library respectively):

A student in my honors class (where they say things like, "Wallace Stevens is just so FUN!") made a found poem of select lecture/rambling highlights. Enjoy:
"Let's Do This"

I like to call him pound cake-
Have you ever thought about your name? Why can't I just be called, like, URH?
I don't know if any of you have ever owned a monkey?
BEHHH. Cat vomit!

Man...who drinks tea-
He's not even sure if he wants to eat a peach for God's sake!
he has something to do with cheese... and painting. Cheese and...

I'll post some pics. here soon that show you how amazing our friends Jeff and Mary Lou are, how cute their dog is, etc.
But this is a busy, busy week!
Wednesday I'll be on the radio talking with some other local authors about my book and the Ohioana Festival: 4-5 pm, on WCRS-FM's Talk of the Town broadcast.
Thursday I'll be visiting Prof. Jeredith Merrin's intro. to poetry class at Ohio State to talk about--what else?
Friday I read in the Elliston Room at the University of Cincinnati as a...

National Poetry Month, we've come to the end of our time together. In fact, I think yesterday's single stanza may have been the moment we broke it off. I need to get my manuscript ready to send out again today, and tomorrow we leave for NYC, so no poem from me, by me.

All my previous (crappy) poem-a-day poems will now be removed. Look for them later in the New Yorker or the trash bin.

Oh I've loved you, National Poetry Month. It's been real.
P.S.: Greg, you're always welcome here!

I've noticed a few things about myself lately:

1. Quatrains! Why all the quatrains???
2. I'm exhausted. By the quatrains.
3. I'll be reading this Friday in Brooklyn at Goodbye Blue Monday as a part of the Stain of Poetry Series (1087 Broadway). Are you coming?
4. Quatrains!!!! See below:

"Boris is dead. The fatalist parrot
No longer screams warnings to Avenue A.
He died last week on a rainy day.
He is sadly missed. His spirit was rare."
-Weldon Kees

Bosco is dead. The humanist parrot
