My Thoughts Tuesday - "The Light"

Picture "The Light" a poem by me (Toni Shiloh)

Never shall I fear the dark because You are my Light.
Never shall I fear the unknown because You are my Path.
Never shall I doubt You because You are the Truth.

When I am lost and feel alone, I will fall to my knees and cry out to You,
Because You are my Guide.
You are the Alpha and the Omega, my point A to B.
Wherever You are, I will be.

Together, I can be a conqueror of dark.
Together, I can show someone else the path.
Together, I can show others the...

My Weekend Read: "A Splash of Substance" by Elizabeth Maddrey

Picture If you haven't heard of Elizabeth Maddrey, then you're missing out on her romances which she calls "thoughtfully romantic." WhatI love about her stories is that she doesn't just weave a fairy tale romance, rather she deals withthe difficult, every day issues we often face.

In "A Splash of Substance," the first book in her Taste of Romance series, Paige Jackson meets Jackson Trent in the political arena of D.C.Here is a line from the back blurb that I absolutely love: "She doesn’t vote. He wor...

Fun Fact Friday: Facts about Nottingham, the Setting of "A Life to Live."

Picture If you've read my book, A Life to Live, you know it's set in Nottingham, England. I thoroughly enjoyed researching the place. Although I've never been, my travels to England helped me imagine it.

So today, I thought it would be fun to share a couple offacts you may or may not know.

1. Nottingham is the famous setting of another tale: Robin Hood. I couldn't help but weave that into the story. Who doesn't love Robin Hood?

2. Two men from Nottingham invented the VCR. We use to have tons of these...

Review: Lynette Eason's "No One to Trust"

Picture Lynette Eason has been one of my favorite suspense authors since I discovered her books. With No One to Trust, she showed me why I continue to read her novels.
One of the things I liked most about this book was that the main characters were already married. I don't see that too often and I was curious to see how their relationship would pan out in the midst of lies and betrayal. Add the danger and running for your life, and Ms. Eason had me on the edge of my seat.
This is the first book in t...

Fun Fact Friday - World Sickle Cell Disease Day

Picture So I know the title says Fun Fact Friday, but today I won't to focus on the fact portion. Today is World Sickle Cell Disease Day.

So what is sickle cell disease you may ask?
It's an inherited disorder that affects the red blood cells. You see they become sickle shaped, causing anemia, pain, and many other health issues.

This day is important to me because I have sickle cell trait. I've always known thanks to the health screening they did at birth. However, there are others who aren't aware. Wh...

My Thoughts Tuesday - The Armor of God

PicturePicture from pixabay.com Sometimes my mind wanders to the mystical. To the deep. To the chasm that separates men from the angels. It is during those times that I let my thoughts flow from pen to paper. I thought I would share my musing on such a day.

What is God asking of us? What is done on this earthly realm that touches the Heavens? I see a legion of angels, suited up in armor with the Word and Light of God. Could I dare to even be part of that? Do I even feel the need? The Call? The honor...

Fun Fact Friday - 3 Facts About Me You May Not Know

Picture Happy Friday! I hope life is treating you well in your neck of the woods. I decided today to share 3 facts about me that you may have no clue about. So let's jump right in.

1. My first job was at H.E.B. It's the best grocery store in the world, except it's only in Texas. Now that I live in Virginia, I can no longer frequent it. Breaks my H.E.B lovin' heart. But I digress. My first job was as a bagger. Ever since then, I feel the compulsive need to bag my own groceries because I find no one do...
