My Weekend TBR Pile - Aug 14-16

Since I've been able to put a dent in my TBR pile, new ones rolled in their spots. I was looking at the list of unread items on my Nook and found some good books to read this weekend. Of course, I'm going to a writer's conference Saturday, so I'm not sure how much reading I'll be doing this weekend. So I'll pick three books in hopes I'll get to at least one.

This has been sitting in my que for awhile. I can't believe I forgot about it. This story is about 3...

Review: Rosanna Huffman's "Hand Me Down Husband"

Picture I read a book! Hooray for me. It feels like I haven't had time to read in awhile, although I have a book in my hand every day. I guess it's because I finally read a book I liked. :)

So yesterday, I finished Rosanna Huffman's "Hand Me Down Husband." I got a chance to meet her at the ACFW Virginia Chapter Writer's Conference last month. And since they had a book swap, I grabbed a copy and had Ms. Huffman sign it. Isn't it awesome when we can get an author to sign their book(s)?

Anyway, I finally...

My Thoughts Tuesday - 8/11/2015

Well it happened. I entered a book drought. Usually, I have finished a book by now and can post a review. Unfortunately, I seem to be in a book drought. Not that the books weren't good, but I felt like they weren't good enough to review.

As a reader I wonder should I do a review anyway? I always try to post a review on goodreads or the place in which I bought the book. But for my blog, I try to save my absolute favorite books.

As an author, I have yet to decide if a bad review is better than no...

Review: K.E. Ganshert's "The Gathering"

Picture *sigh* I can finally breath, because I just devoured K. E. Ganshert's final novel in The Gifting series, The Gathering. This book was so fantastic I don't even know where to begin.

Okay, first off, it you haven't heard of The Gifting series, it's a wonderful youth dystopian novel written by K.E. Ganshert. What does that mean you ask? It means Ms. Ganshert created a world where religion is eradicated. A world where anyone who fallsbeyond the accepted range of normal is systematically extinguish...

TBT - "The Baby-Sitters Club"

Picture 29 years ago, "The Baby-Sitters Club," made it's debut with "Kristy's Great Idea." Yep, you read it right, 29 years ago!!! I for one cannot fathom that I'm old enough to say that. So, I'll appease myself by remembering I wasn't reading at that age. :)

Thankfully, Ann M. Martin didn't stop with book one of the BSC (baby-sitters club). She went on to tell countless stories, weaving her way into the hearts of preteens and teenagers alike.

If for some reason, you've never read her books orif you...

Prayer Request

Picture One thing the body of Christ can do for one another is pray.
Prayer has power whether you're praying for help or someone intercedes on your behalf.

If you're struggling and need prayer, please leave a comment. I'd love to pray for you.

My TBR pile - Aug 3-8

My TBR (to-be-read) pile seems to constantly grow. For everybook I read, I feel like I add at least three more. If you've been following my pile, you'll know I've gotten to some of them. Of course, if I land hands on one I really want to read, some get pushed further down the pile.

So this week, I'm listing the books I hope to tackle by Friday. Don't know yet if I'll make it sense I have a book I'm currently reading for a review. And of course, I'm working on my current wip (work in progre...

Review: K. E. Ganshert's "The Awakening"

Picture Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Okay, I feel better. I just finished* "The Awakening"and I cannot believe I have to wait for book three, "The Gathering" to release until September 8th.It. Is. Absolute. Torture!

I mean really? Who thought it would be great to split a great story like Tess and Luka's and span it into three books?! Does Ms. Ganshert have no concern for her readers? I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. (Okay, I just took a deep breath. I think I'm calm and coherent enough to give...

Blog Revamp!!

So after reading countless articles on the importance of an author brand, I think I finally have one. Thanks to my mother, I'm going to go with"Prayerfully-Lifted Romance" as my tag line. What do you think?

I have a logo in mind but we'll see if that changes. I'm also looking at changing the background of my website. What do you think: does my current backgroundshowcase romance? Or does it seem a little dark and depressing to you?

Any suggestions, comments are welcome! Hopefully in a few days...

Review: K. E. Ganshert's "The Gifting"

Picture If you follow my blog, then you know some of my book choices are due to rave reviews. I'm always looking for new reads and the more I hear about a book, the more interested I become. Am I the only one like that?

Well, "The Gifting" has been getting great reviews and thanks to my lovely friends and family, I was able to purchase it. (Gotta love gift cards to bookstores :)).

It's been months since I purchased it but I couldn't ignore those eyes any longer. Look at them! They're begging you to...
