My Astonishing Vision: Part 2
This post is part two a written account of a vision Dave Williams had back in 1985 that profoundly affected him and his ministry at Mount Hope Church. Read Part 1 here.
I was in a room with a woman trying to give birth. She was laboring, and I was there helping. I would say, “Push, push.” And she would labor and travail and sweat, but the baby didn’t want to come. I continued encouraging her, “Push, push, push.” The baby didn’t want to come out, but finally, the head popped out, and I thought, “Oh, that’s wonderful! Now let’s get the rest of the baby out. Push!” And the woman would groan and struggle and push and labor and travail. I was worn out myself from helping this woman.
Finally, the baby came out, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Now the baby was out, and I noticed this woman looked like she hadn’t labored at all. She just sat there when unexpectedly another baby came out! Then another and another. Soon they began coming out so fast that it almost looked like they were coming out two and three at a time.
There were babies all over the place. Babies, babies, everywhere babies! I knew at the end of the vision exactly what this meant. The woman was the church, laboring, travailing. This was what God was revealing to me what has to be done to give birth into the Kingdom. The Bible says in Isaiah when Mt. Zion travailed she brought forth children. (See Isaiah 66:8 KJV).
Now there are two kinds of travail.
One is in prayer. Paul said, “I travail till Christ be formed in you.” The Bible says in Colossians that Epaphras travailed in prayer, labored in prayer.
The Bible also talks about travailing in love or the labor of love which is practical service; ministry.
How does growth happen? It’s going to happen in warfare, and it’s going to happen in travail. People will come out of a life of sin, and be born into God’s Kingdom!
At the end of this portion of the vision, I thought, “Wow, Lord that was neat.” And I thought that was the end of it, so I just laid on my bed, praying in the Spirit, when suddenly a strange, astonishing thing happened to me.
I felt as though I was going through the air right from Chicago. I was traveling through the air. I never really left the bed, I’m sure. This was all in a vision. But it was so real to me that I could almost feel the air brushing across my face. It was early morning in this part of the vision. When I landed, I found myself on the forty acres where we were going to build our soul-winning center, Mount Hope Church in Lansing, Michigan.
Then a Voice Spoke in My Ear
Up until this time, it was all non-verbal communication. The voice had so much love in it. It almost melted me on the spot. The voice simply said, “Dave, look what I’m doing.” I turned around toward the property and what I saw shocked me! The church was threequarters of the way up! There was still work to be done, but the workers hadn’t arrived for the day yet.
It was so real that I actually saw visqueen, the plastic that they had covered up powdered cement with and put bricks on the corner of the plastic so that rain wouldn’t ruin the concrete. There was plastic over the top of the entrance ways. There were plastic sheets and tarps. That building was going up!
That was the end of the three-fold vision. I was back in Chicago on my bed, and I began to think about it.
I meditated on what God had said, “Look what I’m doing.” And suddenly the whole vision tied together. It became so crystal clear to me that in the first two phases of that vision, God was telling me as a Pastor of what we have to do if He is going to build the church.
We must do warfare with the principalities and powers and rulers of darkness that are keeping people in bondage. Jesus has given us the authority! He said, “these signs shall follow them that believe… they’ll cast out devils!” The devil has held too many people in bondage for too long. Their deliverance draweth nigh! So first, we do warfare with that principality!
We must travail. We labor in two ways. First, we labor in prayer for those people that are caught in that net that want out so badly. Secondly, we labor by sharing the pastor’s ministry and helping out in the church.
Help bring people to church, help usher, help in the nursery, etc. When you see a new person, or when you see a brand new baby born into the Kingdom, help out. When you see people respond to an altar call, take note of them and say, “Hey, let me buy you a coffee.” Offer your love, support, and help. Labor and travail patiently. Fully accept those people and love them right into the Kingdom of God!
If we will do our part and put people’s needs as a priority, we will have so many people enter the Kingdom. He’s going to do it if we keep our priorities right! We must keep our ministry to the Lord, our warfare with the devil, our intercession for people, and our ministry to people.
Go into warfare. Deal blows to the principality of darkness as a spiritually guided missile going toward that net and breaking it up. Loose angels to cut up that net. See your loved ones falling out. See people coming into the Kingdom.
We are going to see REVIVAL like never before in history. Be the little flame that sets the nation ablaze with the gospel of Jesus Christ!

My Astonishing Vision: Part 1
This post is a written account of a vision Dave Williams had back in 1985 that profoundly affected him and his ministry at Mount Hope Church.
It was Friday night, May 10, 1985, when unexpectedly a vision came to me. It was unlike anything that had ever happened to me. It was a clear three-fold vision.
I wasn’t anticipating it to happen. I wasn’t praying for it. I wasn’t fasting. And though I wasn’t seeking a vision, I was seeking direction.
I have two concerns sharing this vision:
You would think I was some spiritual lunatic. I have met quite some unstable people who claim to have “visions” every day, and I didn’t want to be perceived in that sort of light.
I might prompt people to seek after visions instead of seeking Jesus. People might eat pickles before they go to bed and have dreams, then go around and tell people that they had had a vision. I don’t want to promote that type of behavior.
Every experience that is given, whether a dream, vision, or utterance of some sort, must be tested by the Word of God, and if it is not in perfect harmony with the Word of God, the experience must be rejected and deemed invalid.
Scriptural Background
Now let me give you some spiritual background concerning visions. I never realized the important role that visions played in the New Testament Church until this happened to me. In Acts 2, Peter quoted the prophet, Joel:
Acts 2:17 (KJV)
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams.
I believe it is later than we think. I believe the last days are now upon us. In Acts 1, I found that Stephen, the deacon had a vision.
Acts 7:55 (KJV)
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.
Stephen saw something in the Spirit.
In Acts 9 Ananias had a vision. In Acts 11 Peter recounted his vision. And, in Acts 16 Paul tells about his vision. Visions play an important role in the New Testament church.
My Astonishing Vision
I was laying on the bed. It was 10:30 p.m. Suddenly, I was caught into another world it seemed. Though I heard nothing verbally, I understood everything clearly through some form of non-verbal commination. I knew everything that was taking place. I could identify things even though nothing was being said to me in my ear.
In a flash, I was caught up off of the bed, and I realized I was in Lansing, Michigan. I saw an evil, hideous, horrible-looking creature hovering over Lansing. It frightened me for a moment. I was startled. It was breathtaking to see this ghastly creature hovering over my city. I noticed that this evil personality (which I somehow recognized as a principality (Ephesians 6:12) holding an enormous fine mesh net, guarding it jealously. It was a bulging, monstrous net that he was holding over Lansing.
I gazed into that net and saw thousands of people squirming around. Some looked like they were trying to get out. They were in the bondage of this evil principality. All the unsaved were there. Some people were not trying to get out of the net. They thought they were out of the net, but unwittingly were in deep bondage.
I lowered my eyes, and I saw our church with an invisible roof. I looked right down into the sanctuary, and it was Sunday morning. We were standing with our hands straight up in spiritual warfare. We had looks of concern on our faces as we made commands to that principality! “Through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and by the authority of the Holy Spirit in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ,” we were commanding him to loose those people!
But he was holding on to this net jealously. He was not going to let those people go. They were his. He was guarding them jealously. Again we said, “In the Name of Jesus Christ and through His shed blood, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, loose those people!” And he would shake his freakish head, “NO, NO.” People were squirming around in the net.
I knew he desired to drop the net into the fires of Hell. These people were squirming around in the net, and suddenly I began to realize how important souls are. I had a revelation of how important people are.
We commanded again, “In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, whom we serve, through His shed blood, the principality of darkness over Lansing, loose those people!” The creature wasn’t communicating in words, but I knew he was saying, “I don’t want to.” But swiftly something began to happen to the net. The more we commanded and the more we did warfare against that principality, the net began to break apart. (Now as I think back, it was probably invisible angels cutting the net.)
“In the Name of Jesus, principality of darkness in Lansing, Michigan, loose those people!” We were all using the authority the Holy Spirit has given to the Church of Jesus Christ. And though he tried to fight it,
he couldn’t stop his net from crumbling, and people began falling out, one by one. Then by the tens, and then by the hundreds they began falling out of that net. I looked down and saw that they were falling right through the roof of the church.
As I looked down these people were puzzled. They were wandering around like, “What happened?” They were confused. They never knew so much liberty in all their lives. They had been in bondage not realizing it, and now they were loosed and walking around. Many of them were hurt. They needed people like you and me to go and help them and to get them plugged into the church and to love and accept them the way they are.
We face a challenge!
Be a missionary right where you sit. If you see somebody you don’t know, make them feel welcome. Don’t go overboard and hug then if you think it’s going to scare then half out of their wits, but be friendly to them, and give them the help they need.
Now I thought that was the end of the vision, so I rolled over and turned on the light, and I looked at my watch to check the time. It said 10:32 p.m. So I wrote it down and drew a little picture of the vision. I laid back down and was praying in the Spirit when abruptly another vision came. It was like changing the scenes in a play. Stay tuned for My Astonishing Vision: Part 2 on June 12.

Is a Dream from God?
Some people may say, “Since there is such danger from false dreams, shouldn’t we ignore all dreams?” No, we are only to ignore false dreams. God is very serious about any false dream or prophet that leads people astray. Anything that adds to or detracts from the Word of God is suspect. God warns us about false dreams and false prophets as this Scripture states:
Deuteronomy 13:1-5 KJV
If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, “Let us follow other gods” — (gods you have not known) — “and let us worship them,” you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.
Is a Dream from God?
If the devil brings us false dreams and we begin to arrogantly speak them as if they are from God, we are like that cop gone bad. Dreams are not bad in themselves, and God can speak to us in dreams. Ask yourself these questions to help you discern if a dream is from God or not:
Are You Available?
You may not feel like you have much ability, but if you have availability, God will speak to you. The problem is, it is so tough nowadays to be available to God because we’re so busy working for God. A modern-day prophet, Paul Cain, said, “What if you baked God apple pies all of your life? What if you served Him every day by baking apple pies and when you came to the end of your life, you discovered God doesn’t even like apple pie? You would have wasted your entire life doing something God did not even want you to do.” The key is availability. Jesus was always available to His Father. He said:
John 8:26-29 KJV
“I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.” They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father. Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”
Jesus was never in a rush. He didn’t carry a calendar or an iPhone to keep Him on schedule. He didn’t have to sit up all night writing His sermon for the next day. He was available to do His Father’s will, and the Holy Spirit gave Him the words to speak.
God wants us to be available to Him. He speaks to those who say to Him first thing in the morning, “Lord, I want to make myself available to please You today. I ask You to speak to me, to let me know what’s on Your heart so I can be part of what You’re doing. I don’t want to bake you an apple pie if you don’t like apple pie.”

Are You Humble?
God speaks to the humble but deals with the proud from afar. The apostle Paul had many revelations, dreams, and visions, including a trip to Heaven and back, but he said:
1 Corinthians 15:9 KJV
For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle…
God loves to reveal things to people who stay in a spirit of humility. The greatest men of God in the Bible were the humblest of God’s servants. Moses was said to be the most humble man on earth, and God severely rebuked his sister, Miriam, for speaking against His servant, Moses. Let’s read what God said:
Numbers 12:1-8 KJV
Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. “Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the LORD heard this. (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.) At once the LORD said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the Tent of Meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them came out. Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the Tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When both of them stepped forward, he said, “Listen to my words: ‘When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions; I speak to him in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses’”
There was such intimacy between Moses and God that God spoke to Moses like a friend as if face to face. When Moses came down off the mountain after talking with God, he had to wear a veil over his face because his face shone with God’s glory.
Exodus 33:11 NLT
Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.
God has no patience with the spiritually proud and arrogant. He spoke quite clearly how He felt about this in Psalm 138:
Psalm 138:6 KJV
Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar.
When a person sees something wrong with everyone else, and the church, and calls it discernment; it is arrogance, not discernment. God loves His church, and He doesn’t send prophets to condemn, find fault and tear down. A true prophet humbly builds up and edifies the church. That isn’t to say the Lord may not send a word of correction or instruction through a prophet, but it is always given in a spirit of love and humility to build up, not tearing down.
God doesn’t speak to the proud and haughty because He can’t trust them, and neither can you or I. If you truly want to hear from the Lord, you must humble yourself before Him.
Do You Hear and Respond?
God doesn’t speak to people who ignore what He says. He speaks to people who hear and obey His voice and His written Word. He knows that if you don’t obey His written Word, you’ll never obey His spoken words. A good example is someone who prays and asks the Lord to give him revelation about financial investments but doesn’t hear anything from God. The first question I would ask is whether that person is tithing and giving offerings unto the Lord. If not, he can’t expect the Lord to answer his prayer. God will not speak any further beyond your obedience to His written Word—the Bible.
God loves to speak to those with whom He shares an intimate relationship because they recognize His voice and obey without question.
I love my wife and I know her voice. However, before I knew Mary Jo very well, one of her sisters could have called, and I wouldn’t have been able to tell which one it was. After I met Mary Jo and she was going to Bible School in Dallas, we spent hours and hours on the phone talking long distance about anything and everything. Before long I knew her voice, and her sisters couldn’t fool me on the phone anymore.
Mary Jo could come to church in disguise and fool me until I heard her speak.
Once we are used to talking with God about anything and everything in life, He can show up packaged in a way in which we are not accustomed, but we will still know His voice when He speaks. God wants us to be so intimate with Him that we know His voice regardless of how He is packaged, even if He comes incognito.
What Are Your Motives?
If you want to hear the voice of the Lord, be sure to check your motives. Your motives should be to be more intimate with Him and to know Him better so you can please Him.
As a pastor, I always pray for three specific spiritual gifts: words of wisdom, discerning of spirits and the gift of faith. Sometimes I check my motives and ask myself, “Why do I want to flow in the supernatural. Why do I want to know something about somebody that isn’t in my notes? Why do I want people to feel like I’m reading their mail?” If it is because I want people to think I’m an awesome minister or to say, “Isn’t he wonderful?” or “Oh, he’s great, isn’t he?” I have to say, “God, get that haughty attitude out of me!”
It has been a long time since I felt that way. Now I pray, “Lord, I want words of wisdom, words of knowledge and prophetic words so I can know what is on Your heart and become more intimate with you. I want to please You today. What is it You want me to be available for today?” I no longer worry whether my sermons will be perfect or not, because my only desire is to please the Lord. And I know that if I’m pleasing Him, then the greatest number of people will be touched and helped.
Dreams are subjective, but God’s Word is objective.
God’s Word is truth. Heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s Word will never pass away. Availability, humility, and obedience, bring divine revelation to our lives as we get to know the voice of God. A person who says, “God, I’m available to You, anyway You need me today, and I’m ready to obey your voice,” develops a hearing heart.

The Chilling Accuracy of the Ancient Prophets
An unprecedented alignment of last days nations and groups is taking place today. According to the prophets Ezekiel and Daniel, this alignment would take place in the “latter times” (Ezekiel 38:8, 16; Daniel 2:28).
The specific positioning of many of these nations and groups has never happened in history—until now, and many end-time prophecies could not be fulfilled until these nations fell into place.
Israel (Ezekiel 38-39; Zechariah 12:1-6)
Prophecy teachers of old told us, based on prophetic Scriptures that when we see Jewish people miraculously brought back to their land, we would know that we’re in the final stretch. It happened in May 1948.
European nations (Daniel 2; 7; 8; 9; 11)
There is emerging a “New Europe” confederation that will have an enormous impact on trade, global resources, and eventually will either diminish the United Nations’ role in global affairs or completely take control of it.
In Daniel chapter 2, we learn that the headquarters of the coming global government will likely begin in Europe.
The alignment has begun. It’s clear the New World Order will originate in sort of a revived Roman Empire.
Magog nations (Ezekiel 38-39)
In Ezekiel 38, we find an unprecedented alignment of certain nations in the latter times. Russia, also known as Rosh and Magog, Iran (Ancient Persia), Turkey (Ancient Togarmah), Lybia (Ancient Lybia), Sudan (Ancient Cush).
Modern Ethiopia has historically been a Christian nation but now is sandwiched directly between the regions of ancient Ethiopia (Cush) which included Sudan to the north and west and Somalia to the south and east.
These nations are both united in their hatred for Israel and have hosted terrorist networks like al-Qaeda, and Al Shabaab, known for its murderous slaughters in malls and colleges.
Today we find Ancient Persia (Modern Iran) aligning with Russia and the southern Islamic nations.
Russia and Iran, along with these nations mentioned above will attack Israel in the latter days. Today Russia is supplying Iran with nuclear technology and assisting in the construction of nuclear power plants.
Turkey is now experiencing a national fervor to return to the glory days of their Ottoman Empire. They long for their Caliphate again.
This amazing alignment we see today has never happened in all of history.
The prophet Ezekiel gave a clear picture of this end time alliance coming together for the purpose of invading Israel.
Then in Psalm 83, we see the terrorist alignment of the last days around Israel, identified by their ancient locations. Today they are the exact locations of the largest terrorist groups in the world, including Hamas, Hezbollah, Isis, and at least seven others.
Isaiah 17:1 describes conditions in Syria in the last days.
Jeremiah 49 describes a devastating event coming to Ancient Elam (now Southwestern Iran) that appears to be a nuclear devastation of some kind. That’s the exact location on the Bueshar nuclear power station—the largest in all of Iran.
The Prophetic list goes on, including China and kings of the East, which likely includes North Korea.
It’s all happening before our very eyes in this generation. No other generation has witnessed so many stage-setting events and brightly blinking signs that we could be the last generation.
Just looking at the prophetic markers of our day, tells me something global, dramatic, sudden, and irreversible may be on the horizon.

Seven Steps to Receive a Dream From God
God performs miracles today, and He answers prayers when we pray. He still works through dreams and visions to answer our questions, to save those who are unsaved, to give us warnings and instructions, and to provide us with intercessory guidance on behalf of other people.
Perhaps you have never received a dream from the Lord, or maybe you have and didn’t recognize that it was from the Lord. Let me share with you how to receive a dream from God with this seven-step process.
Step 1: Ask God to speak to you in a dream.
If you want to receive a dream from the Lord, then simply ask Him. If you ask, He will answer as it says in this Scripture:
Matthew 7:7-11 KJV
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him.
Step 2: Expect to receive.
If you ask for a dream, do so with the expectation that sooner or later God will give you that dream. Remember to be specific in what you ask, so God will be able to answer you.

James 1:6-8 MEV
But let him ask in faith, without wavering. For he who wavers is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed with the wind. Let not that man think that he will receive anything from the Lord. A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Step 3: Be still when you first awaken.
Sometimes we have dreams but we jump up out of bed so quickly we don’t remember them. When you first wake up, wait to see if you remember anything. If you do, ask the Lord if it is from Him. If peace fills your heart, know that the dream is from Him.
We need to be aware of Satan’s counterfeits that come to torment us. Generally speaking, if a dream fills you with fear, anxiety, and hopelessness, it is not from the Lord. However, sometimes a “warning dream” may at first be troubling, but when you begin to intercede and get further instructions from the Lord, hope will flood your being, and a supernatural peace will come over you.
Philippians 4:7 MSG
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Step 4: Write the details of the dream down and date it.
Dreams are not necessarily to be taken literally. They often possess spiritual and metaphoric revelation that unfolds to you over time. Dreams of the Lord are usually very vivid and in detail. If you don’t write it down, you may not be able to remember the details later when the revelation comes.
Step 5: Pray for understanding and interpretation of the dream.
Every dream has a different interpretation. Some dreams are literal, some are spiritual, and others may have both a literal and spiritual meaning. Dreams are often symbolic. You don’t want to be led astray in the interpretation. That is why you have to ask God to help you understand it. He will either reveal it to you or send someone to you who is gifted and qualified in interpreting dreams. It takes a great deal of discernment and spiritual maturity to interpret dreams so be careful to whom you listen.
We aren’t able to go into depth about how to interpret a dream in this writing. It could be a book all by itself. There are some excellent anointed Christian books available on this subject. Don’t go out and buy any of those secular or occult books on dream interpretation; they will lead you into error and deception.
Be patient and wait upon the Lord. Sometimes it takes years for the meaning to be revealed such as in the case of Joseph in the Bible.
Step 6: Be careful with whom you share it.
Remember, Joseph shared his dream with his brothers, and they threw him into a pit. Later they sold him into slavery because they were so jealous of him. Other people may not understand the meaning of your dream and may talk you out of what God is trying to show you. Some may even be jealous and cause strife to rise up. Seek wisdom regarding a dream only from someone who is spiritually mature and trustworthy.
Step 7: Never rely on a dream as a sole source for a major decision
Be very cautious about using a dream to direct any major decisions in your life. A dream from God will never contradict the Scriptures because God never contradicts His written Word. If the dream does not illustrate, confirm or illuminate a revelation for your specific situation, it may not be from God. If a dream contradicts God’s written Word or encourages you to take an action that is outside the character and nature of Jesus, it is not from God.
The apostle James spoke about the difference between heavenly versus demonic wisdom in this Scripture:
James 3:13-18 KJV
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
The key to using godly wisdom in making decisions is determining whether the action is taken in a peace-loving manner, in submission to God, and produces good fruit.

Getting Out of The Mediocre Room
You have a choice to make when you hear about the wealthy place: you can receive or reject it.
One time when I was preaching on wealth, I had a supernatural revelation that some people in the room deliberately had not brought money to church because they were afraid I was going to ask for a special offering. They were afraid God would tell them to give their money away.
That’s a sign you’re living in a lower level of financial blessing. It shows the mindset of someone who is not living in the wealthy place but in a place of mediocrity and lack.
Picture it this way.
You live in a room that’s boring and bland. It’s the room of mundane, mediocre living. Your needs are met, and they always will be in this mediocre room.
You get up, go to work, get your paycheck, make your house payment or pay your rent, make your car payment, your stereo payment, and your furniture payment. Then you scrape up enough to put in the offering at church. If you don’t have enough that week, you take a dollar bill and fold it up into a little square, so nobody knows it’s only a dollar. Then you go back home to the mediocre room. It’s not a fun place to be.
Right next door to you is a much better room called, “the wealthy place.” You peek under the door and see how nice and luxurious it is. Soft, soothing music is playing, and there’s a whole lot more space than you have in the mediocre room. It’s a place of peace and plenty.
You try the door handle, but it’s locked, and you have no idea how to open it. Then you spend hours wondering how to move from your mediocre room into the nice room next door. You always think, “If only I could get into that wealthy place, I’d have it made.”
Sometimes you stick your finger under the door or fashion a coat hanger to bring over some of the stacks of money you see sitting there. Now and then you snag a dollar or maybe a five out of the wealthy place. But that door is locked. The wealth and luxury never fully come into the room where you’re living.
Living in that mediocre room breeds stinginess, fear of losing money, even greed. It can lead people to reject true wealth’s principles. It’s the opposite of the way God wants you to live! He does not want ANY of His children to live in the mediocre room. And yet some do. Why? They refuse the key.
The Key to the Wealthy Place
God has given you the key into the wealthy place in His Word. Jesus paid for your sins; He purchased your salvation, your healing, and your deliverance from poverty. He has given you the key to the wealthy place, the concierge level of life, but most people don’t know it.
You may be thinking that God’s promises of wealth in the Old Testament don’t apply under the new covenant. But God doesn’t remove blessings when He adds more.
He’s a God of increase and multiplication, and every time there’s an Old Testament promise, there’s a New Testament scripture to verify it. If it says in Genesis that God made Abraham rich with livestock, silver, and gold, then what He did for Abraham, our father in the faith, He’ll do for us. God gives the seed, Isaiah 55 says. He gives the power, Deuteronomy 8:18 says. God gives the increase, 1 Corinthians 3:7 says.
But you and I have to activate it through faith and action which equals obedience!
“Give $100”
Years ago I was sitting in a meeting at Oral Roberts University, and they were having a situation and needed to take an offering. God told me to give a hundred dollars, but I said, “I only have $5 I can give,” because I brought $300 to buy a new suit. He said to give $100 of my suit money. So I did. Now I had only $200 left for a suit.
I was bummed. We left Tulsa, and I didn’t have any new suits. Driving back home, we got to St. Louis and my wife, Mary Jo and I saw a big sign that said Men’s Slack Outlet. Mary Jo pointed it out, but at first, I said, “Nah, I don’t want to get off the highway.”
Then I thought better of it and got off, and there were all these suits, Hugo Boss, brand name, beautiful suits and sports jackets that came to the clearance center because they were missing a button or something. They had tailoring right there, and I bought five beautiful designer suits for less than $200. I was shouting hallelujahs all the way back to Lansing.
That’s the way it works when you start to get into the wealthy place! Now, do you think I wanted that $100 offering back? Of course not. Listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit and always respond.

Why We Won’t Apologize
If you signed up to be on our mailing list, have downloaded a free resource, purchased a product from our store, or attended one of our events, you’ll eventually receive an invitation to become a financial partner with our ministry. And, you won’t hear one of our representatives apologize for that invitation.
Other organizations might say you shouldn’t feel like you have to give. At Dave Williams Ministries, we know you’ll realize no one is going to MAKE you give. See, our goal is to MAKE you WANT to give without putting you through some gauntlet of guilt.
In 2 Corinthians 9:7 it says, “God loves a cheerful giver.” That’s why we won’t apologize for presenting an opportunity for you to be a part of what God is doing through this ministry.
Here are two excellent reasons why:
1. When you give, it is an act of worship.
When you give to our ministry, it is a gift to God. Mature followers of Christ realize that God owns everything we possess. When you think of everything God has done for you, giving is a tangible way for you to demonstrate your thankfulness. One of the best ways to become a cheerful giver is to make your giving an act of worship, not an act of guilt.
2. When you give, it allows us to do all of the amazing things we do.
What exactly do we do? We help accelerate the Gospel by:
Providing grants to inner-city children’s ministries around the nation.
Providing scholarships to ministry training schools to help train pastors.
Conducting training seminars for pastors and church leaders, publishing educational materials, partnering with bible colleges and seminaries, and ministering to pastors, churches, and church boards that needs our help.
Your gifts help train the future leaders of the Church. Your gifts help reach at-risk children before the drug dealers, cults, and gangs do. Your gifts help with Kingdom work in the United States, and around the world. And, we do it 100% debt free. That means none of your donations go to pay interest to banks or credit card companies.
Last year we were able to give more than $225,000 in grants, scholarships, and resources because of our faithful partners. If you are one of our financial partners, YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!
Literally, through your act of worship, by giving you are helping make our world better! That’s why we invite everyone, without apology, to partner with us financially.
On behalf of Dave and Mary Jo Williams and our entire team, if you are already a regular monthly partner, THANK YOU! If you are not yet a partner, please prayerfully consider becoming one. For less than the cost of going out to dinner once a month you can be one of our Pacesetting Partners. Read more about the special benefits we offer to partners here.

Why Does God Speak in Dreams?
God still speaks to people through dreams because He loves and cares for every person on this earth. If a dream is the only way to tell someone about His love, then that is the avenue of communication He will use.
Five reasons God speaks in dreams.
1: To answer specific questions
The Bible holds the answers to all truth, but sometimes we need answers to some very specific questions that apply to the practical aspects of everyday life.
A pastor who had written a book needed to do the final edit on his manuscript. When he arrived home, he was shocked to discover the manuscript was missing. He called his office and had his assistant search his office, but the manuscript was not found anywhere.
To say he was upset was an understatement. There was no duplicate copy because he had thrown the previous drafts away so he wouldn’t mix them up with the final draft. The publisher was expecting the final draft no later than next week so the production schedule would not be delayed. Before he went to bed that night, the pastor prayed, “God, I don’t know where that manuscript is, but You do. I ask You to show me where it is.”
He fell asleep and had a dream that he was driving down the road he usually took to drive between home and the office. He saw a package on the side of the road. He stopped the car, got out and picked up the package. At that moment the dream ended, and he woke up. The dream was so vivid he got out of bed, got in his car and drove slowly along the road he saw in his dream. His headlights flashed on a package beside the road right where it had been in his dream. Then he remembered what he had done.
As he was loading things into the car that afternoon, he had set the manuscript on the roof of the car. As he drove off, the manuscript rode on the roof of the car and tumbled off onto the side of the road. God knew where it was and answered this man’s prayer through a dream. God will answer your questions if you ask Him.

2: To lead people to Christ
The only way to God, the Father, is through Jesus Christ, His Son. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. He led a sinless life and died on the cross for our sins, not His sins. Then He was raised from the dead and ascended into Heaven. He is the only Mediator between God and man. Nobody can get to Heaven any other way but by coming through Jesus Christ. They must turn from sin and turn to Christ, publicly confessing Jesus as Lord. It is the only way to eternal life.
We all know people who are religious. Jesus met many in His day as well. However, it isn’t good enough to just be religious. A person must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to make it into Heaven.
God is so crazy in love with people that He will sometimes give an unsaved person a dream that will lead them to someone or someplace that they can hear the message of Christ and be saved.
We have to remember it is up to man to preach the Gospel. Even angels can’t preach the Gospel. So God will lead people through dreams to a place where they can hear the Gospel. It is part of His plan.
God may give a dream to show a believer specifically how to reach someone who isn’t saved. If you have unsaved loved ones, pray and ask God to begin to give them dreams that will cause them to be troubled in their spirit until they come seeking the answer—Jesus Christ. Ask God to give you a dream to show you specifically how to share the answer with them.
3: To give instructions
Jesus’ stepfather, Joseph, followed God’s instructions given to him in dreams to protect baby Jesus from King Herod. A woman received instructions how to discipline her son and correct his bad behavior through a dream.
It is evident that God sends dreams to instruct and guide us. In Matthew, we read of Pontius Pilate’s wife having a dream and telling her husband not to harm Jesus.
Matthew 27:19 KJV
While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”
Pilate didn’t listen to his wife’s message. He was a crowd pleaser and listened as they cried, “Crucify Him!” He tried to pass the blame off on the Jewish leaders and the crowd, but Pilate has gone down in history as the one that ordered the execution of the very Son of God.
Sometimes when a situation seems impossible, God will give you a dream to guide you to the right solution.
If you are struggling in some area of your life or facing difficult circumstances, pray and ask the Lord to give you instruction and guidance about what to do. As you submit to Him, an answer will come.
4: To give you intercessory guidance on how to pray for others
Have you ever had a bad dream about someone you love and didn’t know what to do about it? If that happens, don’t pass it off as a scary nightmare. Pray and ask the Lord what it means and how you should pray for that person. The Lord may be giving you forewarning of something so you can pray.
We all need someone to stand in the gap for us. That is why I so appreciate my prayer partners that pray for my family and me every day. I praise God that if He gives them a dream or tells them something about me, it is so they can pray it through on my behalf, like what happened in this next story.
5: To warn us of and to provide an opportunity for repentance
In Scripture, we find numerous examples of warnings given in dreams. The prophet Daniel dreamed dreams and also interpreted dreams. He interpreted dreams for King Nebuchadnezzar, including the one that foretold the loss of his kingdom in the fourth chapter of Daniel. Here is the warning Daniel gave the king:
Daniel 4:24-27
This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree the Most High has issued against my lord the king: You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle and be drenched with the dew of heaven. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes. The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that heaven rules. Therefore, O king, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.
Here is the account of the fulfillment of what was prophesied in the king’s dream. It came about exactly as Daniel interpreted because the king did not heed the warning:
Daniel 4:28-34a KJV
All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar. Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?
The words were still on his lips when a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you. You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.
Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like cattle. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.
At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.
When a warning is given, be assured what is prophesied will take place if we don’t heed the warning. The king could have avoided seven years of torment if he had listened to Daniel and repented in the first place. When the king finally repented, his kingdom was restored.
When King Nebuchadnezzar’s son, Belshazzar, became king, he did not heed a warning given in a dream and refused to repent. He died just as Daniel’s interpretation warned. If we are living in disobedience and willful sin, God often gives a warning to provide an opportunity for repentance. If we don’t heed the warning, we will pay the consequences.
God also gives warnings in dreams for intercession to save lives. Prayer can turn the tide on a disaster, as this story illustrates.
Not Every Dream is from God
Now that we have explored the reasons why God speaks to us in dreams, I want to stress to you that not every dream is from God. The enemy can send tormenting dreams.
Sometimes if we are overtired or stressed, the events or circumstances of the day may spill over into our dreams. And some believe that eating the wrong combination of food before going to bed can even cause dreams. That is why it is so important to learn how to discern which dreams are from God and which ones aren’t.

14 Clues that a Person is an Antagonist
On the previous edition of The Pastor’s Coach, we talked about how antagonism is disheartening and bogging down many pastors across the world, and some are giving up. It’s too hard on their marriages and their families.
But you can identify and deal with an antagonist being used of Satan to stop the work God has envisioned and planned for you. The devil is a dream-stealer, and one of his favorite tactics is to find a “useful idiot” who doesn’t even realize he’s being used by the evil one.
How do you identify infected, contagious antagonists in the Church?
There may be one or more indicators that someone is trying to infect you with the devilish microbial of antagonism.
Innuendos
Questioning your “wisdom” and the “wisdom” of others constantly
Subtle slander and sarcasm
Nervousness and agitation (legs shaking under the table, etc.)
Exaggerations and outright falsehoods
Frustration, arrogance, and knit-picking
False concern about areas outside his or her realm of authority
He or she may claim to be a “change agent” to justify antagonism toward authority
Claiming “lots of people” are upset or going to start a revolution, split, etc. Or saying things like, “I’ve had some authority check this out …” or “I’ve talked with several people …”
Accusing those they oppose as having “loose theology,” or bad doctrine. (By the way, John Wesley, Charles Finney, Smith Wigglesworth, and D.L. Moody were all accused of this.) If a rebellious-hearted antagonist cannot stop a message, he’ll try to neutralize the messenger every time.
Minimizing and marginalizing the leadership currently in place
Claiming concern for the church and you, often using flattery or gifts to soften you up for their bacteria-soaked “stinger.”
Flattering key people with insincere compliments to gain their support
Secretly plotting with others who are like-minded or offended, the way Absalom did to David and the way the Pharisees did to Jesus.
Matthew 26:3-4 ESV
Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,
and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.
Sometimes antagonists are dealing with something they don’t understand.
Judas Iscariot probably didn’t realize what he was doing until it was too late. That’s why, perhaps, Jesus instructed us to pray for our enemies. They don’t know what they are doing and the subsequent consequences they’ll face as a result.
Satan has always been clever, but not wise. He somehow convinced one-third of God’s angelic staff to rebel. And his tactics are the same today.
John 10:10 AMPL
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
My Suggestions for You:
1. Keep your hands clean (spiritually)
2. Stay washed up daily (spiritually and mentally)
3. Test the spirits, whether they be of God
I John 4:1 MSG
My dear friends, don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God. There are a lot of lying preachers loose in the world.
4. If you are approached by a “carrier,” have your immune system engaged:
Ask the carrier,
“Why are you telling me this?”
“Where did you get your information?”
“Have you gone directly to the person?”
“Have you checked out your facts?” And,
“Do you mind if I quote you on this?”
Leviticus 19:16 NLT
“Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people. “Do not stand idly by when your neighbor’s life is threatened. I am the Lord.
5. Read books
Antagonists in the Church: How to Identify and Deal with Destructive Conflict by Kenneth C. Haugk and my book, The Spirit of Antagonism. And get the book, Get Over It! by Kate McVeigh. It identifies precisely what offenses can do in a person’s life when they are unresolved, and how Satan’s strategy is implemented through offenses.
Remember this: Trying to sincerely share your heart, or speak into the life of an antagonist is fruitless. He will misread your intentions, twist your words, reframe events, and his intimidations will increase in intensity.
6. You must disassociate yourself with the antagonist while standing your ground to defend the realm of authority you possess from God.
7. Run to Jesus, sit at His feet, and don’t say anything until He clearly lays it on your heart. And practice warfare prayers. Watch God move on your behalf, and be grateful for the opportunity to grow.
My precious fellow minister, you can identify and deal with the spiritual bacteria every pastor faces from time-to-time. Be comforted in knowing that the New Testament believers faced the same situations you have faced.
You are going over—not under!
God has called you to a glorious ministry of imparting not religion, but real life in Jesus to countless souls. Spiritual bacteria and infections must be stopped. Use God’s Word as the antidote and God’s Spirit will be your strength. He has given you discernment—the divine defense against deception. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.
May God keep you and your church healthy in every way!
