Florida Test Taking Fiasco

The Florida test taking fiasco is bringing further scrutiny to the state's educational system.

It's time we thoroughly examine the test givers' methods, motives, means, criteria, effectiveness and ethics. Quite possibly all of this test taking and giving is distracting educators from the educational process and dehumanizing students.

The Florida test taking fiasco reveals systemic problems unaddressed for far too long.

Come on teachers, let's come together and clean up the system and reform education to better serve students!

Contextual Negotiation - Critical Factors of Negotiation

Contextual negotiation is about critical factors of negotiation as they pertain to you personally and the uniqueness of your company.

For example I serve companies worldwide as a corporate trainer, motivational speaker, and executive consultant. Yet since it is me personally who must endure security checks at airports, flight delays, grumpy airline stewards, and aggravation at airports en route to my speaking and consulting jobs... there are some other critical factors of negotiation I account for when deciding whether or not I want to do business with and serve a company.

Besides the fact I show appreciation to and honor those who send me solid referrals and leads, giving them a 20% commission on all paid consulting, coaching, and speaking obtained from their referral ...

I always negotiate every opportunity based on my availability, desirability and affinity for the project, people and place.

Maybe I don't want to travel there again. Maybe the weather and climate appeals to me. Maybe it doesn't. Maybe I want to play golf or go surfing somewhere else that day.

It's simple opportunity cost, something I learned in economics in college. Life consists of time. I can always get more dollars, but not time, which once it is gone is gone forever.

Therefore for me to consider contextual negotiation, my life's personal pleasure and balance of purposeful accomplishment must be fully accounted for. I don't work with people who annoy or disrespect me no matter how much they may be willing to pay me.

These are critical factors of negotiation for me. Yours may differ according to your personal preferences. Too often these critcal factors of negotiation are not accounted for as a one-size fits all formula is often to regularly applied for everyone, leaving you and your company as a slave to all rather than free to enjoy life and seize opportunities that most appeal to and invigorate you.

Although I studied negotiations at Harvard Business School and the University of Washington School of Business, not once did they ever mention contextual negotiation, nor critical factors of negotiation such as these.

Save Money on Health Insurance - Health Freedom and Personal Wellness

To save money on health insurance, gain freedom for your company and employees to use their hard earned dollars toward health, wellness, medical, holistic/alternative providers (if desirable), life rejuvenating modalities, and put the money into your retirement / savings account if unused... make the shift from outdated traditional medical insurance (where you are restricted to see physicians within the network) to health freedom and personal wellness to save money on health insurance.

http://tinyurl.com/74fj29u

We live in a free country! Don't you deserve to be able to choose how you care for your body (and whom you allow to care for your body), have the freedom to save money on health insurance and use your hard earned money as you see fit?

Beyond the desire to save money on health insurance, wouldn't it be nice to earmark unused health insurance funds toward your savings and personal retirement?

Health Coach for Nutritional Weight Loss Advice

I'm a health coach and can make some nutritional recommendations for nutritional weight loss from my personal experience and results as a fitness trainer with other clients.

Remember many registered dieticians and nutritionists unfortunately still operate out of the old paradigm from decades ago - the food pyramid, etc. and haven't learned much about body detoxification, cleanses and energizing the vital organs.

Even more sad is the ongoing battle between registered dieticians (those who historically recommended and approved the red jello with red dye number 40 and white bread at hospitals and public schools) and nutritionists to try to carve out their market niches within society.

I'm just an old-fashioned health coach who exercises regularly, eats healthy, detoxes my own body frequently, employing daily detox strategies and thus have some valuable insight and nutritional weight loss advice.

Remember if the person you are taking nutritional weight loss advice from is overweight him or herself, or doesn't look good in a swimsuit, you probably don't want to be taking advice from them. LOL

Nevertheless nutritional weight loss advice will vary depending on who you get it from. Understandably the majority of professionals out there mean well and have the best intentions, but that doesn't ensure you results now does it?

Nutritional weight loss advice that works with the laws of nature and honors your Creator is a good place to begin and where I as a health coach and former personal fitness trainer begin.

Medical Tourism Books - Tell Me What You Think and Want

Upon looking online for medical tourism books today, many of the reviews were not very good.

As a world traveling health and wellness speaker, I value medical tourism (but probably define it in my own mind differently). I personally value alternative and holistic naturopathy as opposed to medical treatment with drugs and surgeries.

Yet to be fair and honest, I must admit I did have a hernia surgery in Sri Lanka in 2000, which went horribly but only cost me around $500 as opposed to $2,500 which I would have had to pay in the United States.

Since I've traveled to 68 countries thus far and lived overseas several years, preferring the less expensive option was my initial instinct and reaction. However were I to do the hernia surgery over (and go back in time) I probably would have gone to the Philippines (where I had a food allergy test done for $100 in 2011 at the hospital in Makati / Manilla metro area).

I find the Filipinos to be genuinely caring and more interested in the well-being of people culturally speaking then some other countries and particularly we in the west who are often driven by a profit motive (and understandably because medical and nursing school isn't cheap now is it?).

Back to medical tourism books ...I'm still searching and looking. If you have any ideas about medical tourism books, something you would like me to compile and write, I would be willing to do so.

Last night I watched 'Sick Around The World' a PBS Frontline documentary showing how the medical industry works in other nations outside of corporation nation (i.e., the USA) where capitalism reigns and public health takes the backseat. 'Sick Around the World' is a great film (and expose) revealing how other nations attend to public health at a fraction of the cost and prevent bankruptcies caused by medical bills. Check it out! http://tinyurl.com/7yrry4j

Medical tourism books are still forthcoming and needed for consumers for the following reasons:

1. Medical tourism is defined differently depending on who you talk to.

2. Medical tourism is often being promoted by people who have a financial stake in it who cannot always be trusted.

3. Medical tourism books can tend to favor the country of the author and services his medical facility provides (again for financial reasons).

4. Medical tourism books rarely show consumers the all of the holistic, alternative medicine options and naturopathic alternatives (which are less profitable) across the whole wide world.

That being said, I welcome your comments, feedback, reviews and insight on the good, bad and ugly concerning the medical tourism books that are out there currently and how a new book on medical tourism may be a valuable contribution and addition.

Until then, thank you to all the authors of medical tourism books that currently exist from which we can gain a much needed understanding of this growing industry and learn of consumer options (hopefully not just from a financial point of view, but for improving one's health too).

God's richest blessings for good health, happiness and time to enjoy them!

Corporate wellness programs are near and dear to my heart because I know what it is like to work in an abusive work environment, be sick while trying to put in a good day's work, work with someone who can't concentrate because of physical limitations and addictions, and unproductive because of a flurry of toxic emotions and strife in the workplace.

Asian Heritage Speaker Celebrating Asians and Pacific Islanders Contribution to the World

As an Asian heritage speaker sometimes people are surprised I as a white man (Caucasian) deliver many keynote talks for the many Asian American, Pacific Islander communities and Asian societies throughout the world.

I jokingly reply, "I'm an Asian trapped in a white man's body!" They all laugh.

Remember there is always a bit of Asian in every Caucasian :o)

Truly I feel like I left my heart in Asia, a continent where I lived and traveled throughout for over 4 years. Those were the best years of my life.

I would love to return to live and work in Asia when the time and opportunity presents itself.

Celebrating Asians and Pacific Islanders contribution in the world comes easily and naturally to me, since I weekly receive acupuncture treatment and recognize Eastern medicine as far more advanced and naturally than the Western model of medical care.

I also served as an English Pastor at a Chinese Church in Central Florida for 3 years to ABCs (American Born Chinese youth). It was an incredible, life-changing experience. I fell in love with my Chinese family.

While living in Taiwan for 6 months, I taught English at the YMCA and worked as a fitness trainer at the American Club in Taipei. This is where I first began studying and speaking Mandarin.

Time fails me to tell of all my marvelous experiences throughout Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Papua, etc. but I hope to share these wonderful stories with you when I come to serve as your event's asian heritage speaker.

Not just your typical Asian heritage speaker, I have traveled to 68 countries and lived in Asia for over 4 years, giving me a unique personal experience and insight into the amazing qualities and contributions of Asians and Pacific Islanders throughout the world.

As an educator and the son of a history teacher, I also realize the pains and hardships Asians and Pacific Islanders have had to overcome over the years.

If you're looking for an Asian heritage speaker who can relate, feel, heal, energize, inspire and empower your community to be its best and realize its dreams; I'd be delighted and honored to serve you.
