If it was not for our modesty we would be perfect!

This term is usually reserved for those people that we meet who are brazenly open about their achievements and have no problem as they say ‘In blowing their own trumpets’.

I come into contact with a lot of writers, including when approaching for an interview on my radio shows. The reluctance I met on most occasions was baffling and yet once I managed to winkle these writers out of their modesty shells they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and loved the attention.

Firstly let’s establish why we write. Apart from the odd person who wishes a cathartic experience by writing down their life’s experiences; most of us write to be read. We should also admit at this point that the majority of us do not have a million pound budget or a personal assistant available to market said writing.

1046. The trees down the boulevard stand naked in thought, their abundant summery wordage silenced… ~D. H. Lawrence

Two beautiful poems, lovely photos AND a gorgeous YouTube song by a woman I did not know about! What more could you ask for?! ;-)

Peace, love & beautiful harmonies,

Sacred Touches

Have you ever noticed a tree standing naked against the sky,

How beautiful it is?

All its branches are outlined, and in its nakedness

There is a poem, there is a song.

Every leaf is gone and it is waiting for the spring.

When the spring comes, it again fills the tree with

The music of many leaves,

Which in due season fall and are blown away.

And this is the way of life.

~J. Krishnamurti

“You think I am dead,”

The apple tree said,

“Because I have never a leaf to show-

Because I stoop,

And my branches droop,

And the dull gray mosses over me grow!

But I’m still alive in trunk and shoot;

The buds of next May I fold away-

But I pity the withered grass at my root.”

“You think I am dead,”

The quick grass said,

“Because I have parted with stem and blade!

A Nightmare

A very profound piece of Flash Fiction! Can’t wait to get to know this writer better! Wow, writers are pretty amazing people aren’t they?

Peace, love & acceptance of life & death (what other choice do we have?),

The Girl Who...

Time stills. Memories lag on their march to the forefront of my line of thought. A heavy thrum thump of cherished moments drag their feet like slow-motion characters on parade. Far gone interactions are grayish and frayed with tintype residue like emotional scars. In circles and one/two step, they dance before my closed eyes: dreamy and luring. What is this show? Am I dead? Is this my life “flashing”? Every jarring experience, every regret and embarrassment, every blunder and joyous accomplishment creep in tandem like a circus stuck to an eternal merry-go-round. Hellish. Profound, but I do not know what it means. My head is spinning – too slowly, like a wooden spoon stirring caramel. The processional quickens. A whirr of the projector hums from behind as all memories blur. I have forgotten. The ringleader grows silent, the tent lights dim, the clowns re-squeeze into their bug. In the morning, only dust and popcorn shells will…

First interview of 2016 with OpinionatedMan

I am sharing this interview of Jason (AKA Opinionated Man -OM) first because he is an amazing poet & he will soon have a book of poetry out. Secondly, Jason speaks the truth even when he knows it will piss off some people. The truth is: ANYTHING that is worth saying will always piss SOMEBODY off!

Here’s to all writers speaking THEIR truth! ;-)

Peace, love & harmony (when possible),

Sherrie

Motivation for today's REALITY

This is my first interview of the year and it is with OpinionatedMan aka Jason.

Jason was kind enough to do an interview with me through email. So here we go.

1.Think of your top 3 Southern norms and tell me your thoughts on whether they are true, false, or just get over it.

Southern norms definitely exist and I found out firsthand that some parts of the country don’t understand southerners. I visited Seattle, Washington once and met some people there for a trip. During that trip I asked some individuals where the “weight room” was.” They couldn’t understand me. They thought I was saying “white room” for some reason. Must be a southern thing! I also love southern food and comfort so I guess I fit the stereotype!

2. I got the idea of doing weekly blog reviews from you and would like to know what made you…

Move on…

Just want to add a couple thoughts to this post. Buddha says “Learn the lesson so it will not be repeated.” So do not regret that you are given a chance to learn a life lesson, Be glad it’s over & move on.

Also, I have no regrets in my life because I know that everything I’ve been through has made me who I am today. And I’m happy with WHO I am & WHERE I’m at! ;-)

Peace, love & life lessons for all,

Sherrie

So true…

This poster makes me think about the time in my life when I no longer knew who I was so I just started dancing! One time I danced for eleven hours, taking out just enough time to eat & drink a little. I had many 4-5 hour dance sessions. I got my exercise and I got my self-esteem back.

And, just so you know, I wasn’t drinking much, if at all, during those times. I was just getting high off the music and the people and dancing.

I would never go that crazy again, but I would like to add a few hours a week of dance to my life.

Peace, love & DANCE to the music,

Sherrie

The Neighborhood

My Friend the Wind

written by Andrea L. Harris

The wind sat on my lap today

And told me what he’d heard.

When asked where he obtained his knowledge,

He replied, “Oh, a little bird.”

He said that he has seen it all

While drifting through the sky.

He’s seen some live and laugh and love,

And he’s seen some die.

“Now Wind,” I uttered a humble bliss,

“Why are you perched on me?”

The wind replied, “I’ve come as a friend

To show you what I see.

“I’ll tell you Miss, with tears in your eyes,

Why must you feel so sad?

Just come with me, I’ll set you free,

You’ll see all the riches you’ve had.”

“But I’ve had no riches,” said I to the wind,

“My life is filled with sorrow.”

The wind replied, “Nay, my lad,

You’ll understand all tomorrow.”
So, off we drifted, soaring through…

21 Suggestions for Success

No. 1 is absolutely correct! I was 49 when I finally married the right person (after 2 false starts) and that has made all the difference. These are all excellent pieces of advice.

Orlando Espinosa

I’m always look for inspiration in the writings of others. These are some great suggestions from H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Marry the right person. This one decision will determine 90% of your happiness or misery.
Work at something you enjoy and that’s worthy of your time and talent.
Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.
Be forgiving of yourself and others.
Be generous.
Have a grateful heart.
Persistence, persistence, persistence.
Discipline yourself to save money on even the most modest salary.
Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated.
Commit yourself to constant improvement.
Commit yourself to quality.
Understand that happiness is not based on possessions, power or prestige, but on relationships with people you love and respect.
Be loyal.
Be honest.
Be a self-starter.
Be decisive even if it means you’ll sometimes be wrong.
Stop…

Love Someone For…

I guess this is not a new problem. I should know that: parents used to choose the (richest) man to marry their daughter & still do in some places & among some families.

I know of a woman who broke off her engagement when her fiancé had to sell his home. He was devastated which I didn’t understand. I really don’t get why someone would want to be with someone if they only care about what they own or how the look. And I definitely don’t get it when people want to be with someone who messed around on them. I would say “There you go! You got yourself a new girlfriend cuz I don’t want anything to do with you anymore!”

Some people think I am ruthless or heartless, but look what I got now! My perfect mate who wants to be with me until “death do us part.”

They say “People come into our lives for a REASON, a SEASON or (that very special person) A LIFETIME!

Remember: People can be good people but still not be the one meant for you. It’s just the way it is! ;-)

Peace, love & that special one who hears your song,
