Where'd You Go, Bernadette
by Maria Semple Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Thanks for adding me! I love your books! Two Rivers was the fist one I read. I couldn't wait to finish it however I was sad when it came to an end. It's such a beautiful story! I went on to read Nearer Than The Sky, Undressing The Moon & Breathing Water. I share all of your books with friends & family members! Just started The Hungry Season! Hope I'll have time to "get lost" in it this weekend! I also enjoy reading all of your book reviews on here! Happy reading & writing!! :)
Just finished Nearer than the Sky, and was blown away! So far, for me you are 3-for-3! the only one I haven't read yet is Undressing the Moon and I am looking forward to it! Your writing, characters, plot, continue to amaze me.Thanks for another great story!
Thanks! The new one (The Hungry Season) just came out. I believe it's available for Kindle/Sony etc... as well. Happy reading :)
Thanks! I really enjoyed Two Rivers -- it was my first e-book! I'm looking forward to reading some more of your work.
Just a note to let you know that your novel "Two Rivers", has just been stashed into my backpack. Tomorrow morning the book will be on it's way to Mexico. I chose your book for my "traveling read", it will be getting a fair amount of "face time" :>)I've noticed, when I travel, that there are two groups of readers. There are those who hunch. They lay their books face down on their laps and tend to cover the areas of the book that they are not immediately engaged in. It is clear that they feel that what they are reading is their own business. THEN, there are the "rubber neckers" (a group to which I count myself among). Those who try to see which book someone else is reading. I've been known to do some strange contortions and/or I have resorted to outright stareing, just to see what the stranger across from me is reading.
The fact that I am a "rubber necker" and that I like to think of myself as somewhat of a thoughtful person, leads me to openly display what I am reading. I hold the book upwards, I make sure the title and the cover art are visible. I've been known to comment on the book if I catch a fellow "rubber necker" sneeking a peek or doing some outright stareing. I guess I've never given up the "hand sell" urge (use to work in a small independant bookstore)
SO...........Two Rivers will be getting face time in the airport (leaving from Wisconsin's insane cold temps), aboard an airplane and on a bus in Mexico's balmy sunshine. The book will probably get some poolside time as well.
Thank you for the stories.....without them, what would life be ? Even traveling would be somewhat less exciting :>)
Jeannie
Thanks...from your shelf, it looks as though its in good company. And I hope you both find and enjoy the other ones. And strangely, this time around, they're carrying the book at places like Target and Sam's Club, so you can always try there :)
Thanks for the add. I seldom choose books without any prior recommendation, but I'm glad Undressing the Moon caught my eye. I've been looking for your other books, but I live in a nearly illiterate area so no luck so far. I might be left with no choice but to actually wake up in time to deposit money in my bank account and order your other books online.
