Northland's News Center: MN Lawmakers Pledge Support For Major Military Program
Several of Minnesota's lawmakers have pledged their support for Duluth's effort to win active association air force personnel at the 148th fighter wing.
Wednesday Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar, along with Congressman Chip Cravaack pledged their support for active association while meeting with members of the military affairs committee of the Duluth Area Chamber Of Commerce.

Washington Post: Franken, Blumenthal introduce mobile privacy bill
Senators Al Franken (D-Minn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) on Wednesday introduced a smart phone privacy bill that would require companies like Apple and Google to get permission from users before sharing geo-locational data with third parties.
The bill comes amid increased concern that mobile phone and apps makers are collecting information about a consumer's whereabouts based on GPS and other technology and sharing that data with outside parties.

The Nation: Robert Mueller's Questionable Extension as FBI Director
This morning, the Washington Post reported on some deeply disturbing accusations against the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Last fall, FBI agents armed with twenty-three subpoenas raided seven homes, mainly in the Midwest. The targets of this "mysterious, ongoing nationwide terrorism investigation" had one thing in common: they were all either involved with the peace movement or were politically active labor organizers. The bureau will not comment on what is being specifically investigated, though some court documents indicate the FBI is looking into "material support" of Colombian and Palestinian groups designated as terrorist organizations by the government.

WCCO: Franken Studies Effects Of Proposed Medicaid Cuts
U.S. Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota got some first-hand information Saturday on how cuts in Medicaid would affect the disabled.
"This is something that, I think, ah, who we are as a society both Minnesota and this country is how we treat the most vulnerable," Franken said after touring Hammer Residences in Wayzata.

Echo Press: Minnesota to get $3 million for foreclosure counseling
With high foreclosure rates plaguing communities across Minnesota and across the country, U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken (D-Minn.) announced that over $3 million in federal funding will go to the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (Minnesota Housing) to provide counseling to families and individuals facing the threat of foreclosure.

Alexandria Echo Press: More than $800,000 going toward job training for Minnesota veterans
U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken (D-Minn.) recently announced that more than $800,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will go to Minnesota organizations to provide for job training for veterans. The funds are awarded through DOL's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program and Veterans Workforce Investment Program and will provide training to help area veterans succeed in civilian careers.
