Monday Mechanics: Paragraphs

Paragraphs consist of (at least) three sentences: the one that introduces the topic, the one that expands on the topic, and the closing sentence (think of it as a beginning, middle, and end—microscopically):

John was my brother. He was five years older than me. I loved him.

Dialog is a paragraph—meaning when a person speaks, they get their own paragraph.

"Where's John," asked Susan.

"In the store," answered Marc.

Writing Challenge: Day #19 & 20

Nothing—I'm taking a couple days off to unearth the papers from my study, clean the house, and—oh yeah—celebrate a summer well-done!

Awesome Review from TBR!

If you're in the mood for a sexy, light hearted read, this is the book you need to get…one of the funniest books that I've read in quite awhile.  Not stupid funny either, it was snappy, quick-witted humor.

For the full review, head here.

Thursday Time: Keep Going Up that Hill

I hit 32 pages for the month yesterday.  That's 8000 words—the goal was 7000. I was getting all upset because I'd miss a day here and there, but seeing the number just reminds me that it's okay not to be 100%, that if I take a break it's fine, as long as I keep climbing the hill, eventually, I'll reach the top.

Wednesday Whoa: Man's Search for Meaning

Viktor Frankl changed my life through this book.  It's the perfect story of love, loss, triumph—and all in a memoir form that will change the way you look at the world and yourself.
